Shaun Mitchell I know right! It blows my mind that society just stopped embracing good quality R&B. That's how I know the youth is getting worse. Too much emphasis on sex and not enough about LOVE & ROMANCE. Too much emphasis on looks and not enough on TALENT. Hip hop and R&B are so interconnected now - the R&B artist today sounds like he's rapping & singing at the same time - Songs don't sound melodic anymore. And with artists like JT, Thicke, Sam Smith getting all this publicity, it almost feels like R&B doesn't belong to the black community anymore, similar to what Hip Hop is going through right now with Iggy -- but that's another discussion. I grew up on 80s-90s R&B. So much love, soul and culture in that music, and it was on the radio EVERY DAY. It had me feeling like black was the thing to be!! (Tupac voice) I don't get that same feeling anymore with the new music today.

Keep your head up I love that tune! Yeah it's sad definitely. Another thing, artists before they get signed are true to themselves and what truly makes them happy, then they meet their producers and it's like they get transformed into robots. Really look and see how many artists have done a complete 180 from the time they started till now. Why does an artist have to completely disregard who they are to sell records. Ive heard many artists come out with albums that are all about music that they truly love recording. For instance christina aguilara's album stripped. She was tired of doing everything they wanted her to do and just said fuck yall and did her thing. She really has that soul that we are talking about. I hope artists like her can inspire the up and coming talent.

I remember the part where Jermaine Dupri says, If you're 25 or older you need to turn this up, and if you're 18 to 21 you need to turn this off! Well, I was around 20 or 21 when this came out, and I would always blast this when the radio played it. Now I'm 43 and keeping my eyes open for looking around for my future wife. Jagged Edge made bangers back in the day! Jermaine Dupri definitely should have won a Grammy for this!
