Artists always do not follow dotted lines. Everyone has his style and so long they do not kill essence of the poetry it is Allright. Jagjitji has done full justice to this great gazal. A big salute to JAGJITJI.

If you love Begun Akhter's or Farida ji's rendition, well and good, nothing is wrong in saying it. But you don't expect everyone to copy them....Great singers have their own style and interpretation. It's not fair to compare between 2 great artists, nor its easy to compare. Enjoy music, and appreciate great musicianship even if a particular performance is not up to your own taste. Om Shanti.

Begum Akhtar should be avoided by other ghazal singers they lose their own respect as it is not possible to reproduce the same feel. Nearest went fareeda khanam but still far away

Jagjit singh 's soleful rendering brings out the latent & absolute emotions at the heart of each ghazal & his magical voice fully translates its spirit , & is extremely touching & at the same time relaxing. Sorry, but Jagjit did make mistakes in lyrics... Also the feel Begum Akhtar put, no other singer can match. Although, Fariddah Khannum did justice to quite an extent, but even she was far away

Love Jagjeet Saaheb but this ghazal not his one of the best something is missing..

I am a fan of Jagjit Singh but I felt he was not upto his usual excellent standard here, but then I am nobody to comment on the quality of sangeet of a most popular singer but his slip in the wording of the lyrics saying dard-e- ishq"main " instead of dard-e- ishq "se" was not something you expect of someone like Jagjit .

Unbelievable that Jagjit Singh could make a mistake in ghazal lyrics. He sings several times 'main hoon dard e ishq MEIN jaan ba lab...' The correct line is 'main hoon dard e ishq SE jaan ba lab....' ☹️
