Looking very good indeed! I'm sure it's tricky stuff but to have an aluminum bodied car is so worth it. If i was the owner I would polish it and leave it unpainted for a while. Really taking shape 😉
Great progress on your aluminum welding. Have you ever tried Aluminium brazing using a flane and flux? I found it works well on thin guage aluminum. You only need a hot concentrated flame like oxy-acetylene and the flux is cheap. ( I used one from pinnacle that is specifically for aluminum)
You are becoming accomplished at TIG. One suggestion if I may, can you move your lights over the work area? Personally I have multiple lights from different angles over my welding table. I find that good lighting helps me do smooth work. But perhaps your eyesight is better than mine, but , just a suggestion.
Danie, I’m impressed by how quickly you figured out how to tig those panels together. I’m having a lot of trouble with mine. You do awesome work man. I’m trying to learn how to tig thin aluminum now. I just got an AC/DC tig as well and I’m struggling to butt weld my aluminum panels together. I keep blowing holes in the edges. I’m using .050 3003 H14 aluminum. Can you please tell me what settings you had success with on your tig? Also tungsten size and tungsten type? Gas flow, etc. Thank you so much for any advice sir!
Hi Chad. thanks for the message! I'll be honest with you but it wasn't easy for me either in the beginning. Blew lotse of holes in the Ali. as far as setting up is conserned I learned a lot from this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ALieUi3sCYs.html . He know just about everything there is to know about welding! If there is one thing I can say thou is to always use a foot pedal for perrfect control.
There aren't so many people left alive who know how to do this. Of those that are left, not so many have 3000hours available to put into a project like this.
