Jaguar XE 25t R-Sport (ENG) - Test Drive and Review 

I've had 16 cars, including 5 Jaguars. The XE has been my most favourite one of all cars I've ever had.

Literally the only guy on the planet that doesn't rate the jag above all its German rivals for driving dynamics. Also slates the ZF 8 speed wtf?

I have just bought this exact car, and i have driven it in wet and dry conditions on country roads, in no way did i find it tail happy. I had a BMW 330 prior to this car and i can say the XE handles better in all conditions, and is a much more enjoyable driving experience!

Very poor review, the BMW 3 series which I own and my wife has a c class Mercedes could never compare to this. Just bought the new XE R 25t and this was the standard one for my country. The basic 3 series is a 1.6 engine and it's worthless. It doesn't even come with air conditioning at the back. The interior and exterior of my XE is spectacular and the drive is amazing. The 3 series feels like an old Lexus IS 200. There are many other positive reviews about the XE R and the XE S. There is also a production of an RS model which will compete against super cars. This is the first of its kind in this model while the 3 series and c class is the same ugly boring look. Such a biased ridiculous review.

I have a xe r sport and love the car .It is made for young executive not a family car .It also has plenty of boot space .The veh is truly a drivers car not a passenger carrier .

Wow! How can someone be so at odds with other reviews conducted on this car? Jeremy Clarkson loved it and professional journos to amateur commentators all seem to place this car between the top of the D segment and on par with the German old guard. The ride appears to be universally considered second to none. While different opinions will always exist in motoring, it seems highly unusual for someone to try to present himself as impartial while completely contradicting the general consensus on almost all counts. Very suspicious. Discerning car buyers should skip past this one...

Sorry but after reading numerous other reviews I find the steering comment BS. There is no other word for it. Jaguar used the same ZF steering rack as the German units & Jaguar noted they spent a good deal of time fine tuning it. In fact everyone (but you) stated the car feels much more direct than the BMW 3 series & Audi A4, both of which newest generations have greatly muted from increasing in car size. The biggest qualm I have is the size of the car; yes many people noted the XE is smaller than its German rivals. However did anyone compare the XE to the E90 3 series or the W204 C-class? It is within mere centimeters to the older cars. The German Big 3 all seem to enlarge their D-segment cars to ridiculous sizes to cater to the market, almost to the point of intruding the E-segment (E-class, 5 series, A6 etc.) size of yore. If you want to seat 5 adults, buy a E-class or the XF.

Hi Marek.First of all I want to thank you for your videos.Keep up the momentum and review something a bit older and rare such my Saab 9-3 MY08 Convertible ;) My father-in-law just bought XE and I'm really curious whether it will outclass the competition.

Design is like 5,2x cooler than XF. Traded my X-Type V6 AWD in to XE 25t. I traded X-Type V6 sound into V4, but gained back performance and consumption. I could not get XE 3.0 AWD in Finland at the time and Germanny only got 3 second hand for the market. XF as like S-Type were too big for my taste, X-type and XE are just lovely. What a head turning car in Finland. Guys with XF v6/v8 race with you just to see wtf you are driving with and raise "a thumb". for you. Beautiful!

Why does everyone jump down this guy’s throat? It’s a review. An opinion. I’ve never driven the car, but so far I think it’s the one I want. A negative review (especially when it goes against every other review on this car) is very useful (as long as you accept that everyone should buy the car that THEY want), as it makes you aware of important considerations when purchasing. I think the jag is easily the best looking in its class, and the badge is very appealing to me. Just accept that it’s not the car for this guy and let it go. Your Jag is still a Jaaaaag.

I was expecting something amazing when I saw the model the first time, with their amazing Diesel engine and design, but passengers and boot space is the real issue here. But they give you 100% 3 years warranty and no KM limits and not like all the other companies, and that's a plus.

When I saw some of the negative and downright petty / childish comments, I specifically watched reviews from UK reviewers to see if you were alone in your comments. YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!!. The XE is an improvement over the prior offering in this segment BUT it is a compromised car. However, that is not a bad thing. Jaguar has stated they are going for a more value oriented price point and that is reflected in spec, components, or other areas of the build. In this segment Jaguar brought in a good car but did not aim for outdoing the Germans. Jagur has time to refine the product. The 'bones' are good and can be bought at a range of price points. I feel your review was 100% spot on. The Honest John UK review does not stray too much from what was called out here. Continue the good work.

Basically every review ever made on this car says it drives at least on the level of the 3 series, which is best in class. Funny that there is one single review that states otherwise. Hm... who to trust here? Guess I don't trust the guy who is out of breath from sliding across the rear seats.

I'd still get the 3-series. XE seems to have too many niggles and obvious design flaws, and in this price segment, I would not put up with them. Nice looking machine though.

I'm surprised by the amount of negativity in comments here. Like if your review doesn't agree with other reviews, it must be a bad and biased review... Well, if people expect all the reviews to be the same, then there is no reason for more than one review and that's it... Back to the subject: I test drove the XE and I was not convinced. I drive BMW 330d (F31) and I have to say it is better car in many aspects than the Jag. Excellent english by the way!

Have not driven a Jag before, but I agree nowadays Jag has lost its classic exterior and interior design. I had experience taking a ride on my dad's friend's Jag Daimler back in 90s, and it was very special. Now if you cover the badge on steering wheel or grill and call it an Infiniti, I won't argue with you.

Sliding and control is very easy.... Even in comfort mode. Driving on ice is fun I love my MY18 xe 25t r-sport The 3series is shit... And the c class is nice but the Jag is more fun to drive

I have this car , it is better than a BMW, Mercedes & Audi . This car is an 'art of work' that John Steed would own, what more do you need to know ..........

I almost stopped watching this when you claimed X-Type being disguised Mondeo - remembering that X-Type shares only 17 per cent of Mondeo parts, having different wheelbase and track also. But my interest in XE overruled that shit so I finished the video.

Good review. Most journalist reviews the fully specced Jag and claims it's great. I've driven the same one as your test unit. I find it disappointing around corners and good at straight lines

I can't even begin to understand this review. "Slow steering"?! It's got the same mechanical hardware as the BMW 3 Series and it's tuned to be a quicker rack. The steering has been praised universally by pretty much every other reviewer as being more direct and more communicative than the 3 Series. As for the ride - there is just no match in the balance between comfort and handling with a C Class or 3 Series. The suspension set up is more advanced on the XE and it's immediately obvious. Perhaps unlike this reviewer, I have driven the new 3 Series and XE back-to-back and signed on the dotted line for the XE there and then. I have no bias but the XE was demonstrably better. I honestly can't understand this reviewer's comments.

Oh boy, the Jaguar suits are not going to love you anymore Marek! Evidently there are obvious faults with this car that really ought to have been ironed out during development, sadly, the emphasis at Jaguar these days is to design cars with rock solid suspension to give that "sporty" feel rather than a comfortable, compliant drive that is necessary for say 98% of the time. I used to have a car that froze my right arm/wrist/shoulder and i learnt to hate it!

OK a fair review of sorts but 10 mins of viewing and he never really tried to plant his foot in sport mode with the paddles. I think he would have been happier with the lower powered diesel.

My man you are extremely negatively biased....I'm listening to the review and I'm waiting for you to say anything good about the car but I'm already 10 minutes into an 11 minute review....if you don't like the car why review it...smh

Poor review, every other review I've seen of the XE has been brilliant, until this one, and I don't the believe the rest of the world journalists are all wrong! Everyone else says that the Jag has better ride and handling, than the likes of BMW, Audi and Mercedes... There might be a couple of things which will no doubt changed soon, but this car is almost perfect, it's positives completely out weigh any negatives.

Mercedes-Benz C300 4MATIC is better.

The interior is unacceptable . The 2nd generation will probably be better.

Starting off your review negatively is not the way to go. 2 minutes 40 seconds into your video you're still being negative. This is where I turn you off.
