Sait Pehlivan the only thing which this car is better at is handling, which really almost no one cares about because all german competitors handle good enough.
Strongholdex front design can change and to break prejudice also ı think so back needs comment bad or good side and include back I volvo s90 front is fabulous and looking so charismatic but back is horrible apperence you're right
This is indeed one of the prettiest sedans. I think only the Giulia looks better. All the recent german models look boring compared to this :) Great review Thomas!
I think Jaguar have intentionally positioned the rear seats slightly off-set from the front seats. This is so that rear seat passengers can get a better view towards the front, hence making the rear seating experience less claustrophobic!!!
I've recently taken delivery of a R Sport 25t RWD in Caesium blue so thanks for the review Thomas. It's a good car and the engine is frugal if you drive it sensibly... still good fun if you don't !
I've had my XE R Sport 25t AWD petrol for just over two years and I still love it to bits. Great handling and pretty quick car. Would recommend to anyone.
@@Dr23rippa Excellent reliability. Replaced front discs and pads and cost was average. No other issues. I change the oil myself every year (I only do about 6000 miles a year) and although it takes about 7 litres it's not any more expensive than it's competitors. The car has only done 25.000 miles since new in 2017 and is in immaculate condition.
I test drove an XE recently, and met a couple who were looking to replace their 8 year old XK with a brand new one. The wife was German, specifically got her British husband to buy a Jag so they can take it to Germany and show up some of the BMW and Audis gunning it on the Autobahn! I am glad to see Jaguar have improved build quality. Generally, these cars now are no-comparmise alternatives to their Saxon cousins. Excellent review!
Great review! I just don't understand why the XE hasn't sold more, especially as all reviews I've seen are very positive about it. Even in its home country the volume sold is shockingly low. I can't remember the exact figures, but I think that each of the German competitors sell at least 10 or 12 times more. Such low figures that the XE will now be discontinued in the US.
Great review Thomas. I have a XE R Sport 300 AWD and the same smile that you had during your review. Cant beat the XE in this segment.....and even if it could be beaten it would still be my choice.
Once again excellent review Thomas! My issue with this , and other makers is the lower exhaust valence that are grayish panel that looks odd on a otherwise pretty car!
Great review as always ! Your channel is one of the greatest discoveries I've made on RU-vid (thanks to my husband !). I used to be none the wiser about cars ; in a word, I could barely tell one model from another. Now, thanks to your team, I know EXACTLY which brand I love (Bentley for the dreamcar, BMW, Mercedes...) which one I hate (Audi...), I can recognize the sound of a 4-cylinder compared to a V6 or V8, and know quite a lot about alcantara and leatherette packs :-) From my point of view, you, Sir, acts like a real teacher - your reviews are so complete and useful ! They should create a whole section for cars in Universities. There is much more to it than just vehicles : there is a social, political and industrial in-depth analysis with how countries favor one brand over others, and how the manufacturers approach questions such as safety, fuel consumption and so on. Not to mention the groundbreaking technology behind certain models, such as the Tesla and the S-Class night-vision. Thank you all !
+Autogefuhl - another really entertaining and detailed Review. Also, as always, we love your driving style, calm attitude and excellent commentary when driving, along with the great views out through the windscreen, giving us a really good idea of the car, so we can form our own opinions too! Once again, many thanks to the team, Thomas.
Finally 2019 model received new rear lights! On your tested model, there are still those grumpy, clumsy one. Make 2019 model, all reviews are very positive. Thank you
In my view it's still a beautiful car, and the improved interior quality is very welcome. Most welcome, however, are these new petrol engines. Over here in the Netherlands the old engines were very expensive due to the high CO2 emissions and our wonderful CO2 based tax. This new engine makes the 200hp 2 liter version almost 10 thousand euros cheaper! So now it is a realistic choice for those, who do not want diesel. And with the addition of the Giulia there is a lot more choice in this segment now. I like it! :-)
nice review and a really nice car. but i dont get it that jaguar did not fix the issue that the trunk still is not covered in the upper inside so that you can see the bare metal. that looks so cheap and unfinished. not very premium
Even the new BMW 3 series and Mercedes C Class don’t have covers on the upper inside of the trunk. You will see the bare metal on those models as well. You are just nitpicking because it’s a Jaguar and a British brand.
I really like my 2017 Jaguar XE R-Sport however, the InControl Touch Pro system is very erratic and often plagued with computer hardware and software problems. The base model is far superior and has fewer issues.
The best review of XE. Thank you! I want to buy XE before lifting with 2.0 ingenium 250 and now I know everything about it and I love it more than other sport sedans. Do you know how reliable is this engine with higher mileage?
Jaguar 5.0 l V8 N/A was bullet proof. The Diesels are horrible in reliability, my XF 2.2 Diesel blew up after 8000 km. Small petrols are mediocre, not super bad but also not super good. I d check if the vehicle had regular oil changes / was well maintained. I love Jags but they do have their problems. Check the history and dont spend too much money. Thats about used. If buying new, rather lease and keep it in warranty.
@@autogefuehl Thank you. Im looking for only 2.0 250 ingenium, because i need engine which can has small consumption and nice performance when you need it. I want it for daily car. So i understand, this 2.0 petrol engine its not bad choice when it was regularly serviced
This Jaguar XE looks really elegant and it differs traumatically from the old Princier Jaguar S-Type that was way more executive. Today when I see a Jaguar S-Type on highway it simply looks awesome and puts shade on the newest Jaguar versions like XE.
Markus Deep I own an 2007 S-Type 3.0 and a 2013 Mercedes Benz S-550. Both of my cars turn heads even though my Jag is 10 years old. My jag is in a color called Frost Blue and it is amazing. Look it up when you get a chance. But my jag isn't very reliable. I've had it since new and I am trading it in for a CPO 2014 Range Rover Sport. Loved that car.
consolence s I can't deny that your car Jaguar S-Type color looks way amazing. The Jaguar Is the only brand that proposed a pallet of different colors for their S-Type. I like that and just want to own one soon only for my garage. My friend owns one and every time he drives it he looks like an Emir of Dubai
Please can you do Jaguar XE R Dynamic New 2020 version review please? Got a 2018 version and need a Thomas review to make up my mind whether to upgrade :-)
Autogefühl could you help maybe to explain when driving at 43.56 liters per 100 km how can the car return so quickly back to averaging 9.8 liters after less hard driving and returning to more of a crushing type of driving?also should this be possible in a bmw three series?
When you watch and listen closely, that was because I have reset the trip computer to get to know what is the "idle consumption" when driving steadily. Happens with any car
Autogefühl I measured the fuel used per miles driven then refueled and repeated the process and drove more conservatively. also the car recovered mpg really quite well when just accelerating to normally drive and pass on motorways.
Autogefühl I think maybe it was just I used too much acceleration possibly. I did not know it was even possible that i could consume so much in a six cylinder bmw so i did not expect it and tried just normal conservative driving but this worked so well that I was also amazed.
Another excellent review Thomas! Keep up the great work!. As for the XE, I wish you'd call into spotlight how the interior devolves into a symphony of rattles and creaks b/c of poor build quality. And also, see egregious defects like this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zpX6Ob73P44.html simply should not exist on a modern Jaguar.
Close to Thomas Blue, but no cigar! Handsome car. If I was going for a powerful performance car, I'd still go for the M3 (for the handling and dynamics), but otherwise, the XE is definitely an alternative to a 3 Series or A4. Wonderful design. I do think BMW and Audi are a bit bland these days in terms of the design. Great review, as ever, Thomas.
This is the car you buy over a Ford Fusion but you buy a Ford Fusion because it is cheaper. I still can see a bit of Ford in Jags. This is not a bad thing because I own one. The true sporty version of the Ford Fusion.
I feel the overall design is a bit boring isn't it? I was in the market from this segment and the interior wasn't great either. I kind of expect full LED headlights also, at least as an option.
Totally nailed it, Audi has better interiors however, Brits have better exteriors! German exterior design is really conservative and boring. I really like Guilia's interior and exterior, however, their interior quality is inferior to A4. ...what do you think?
Yes, our thinking is exactly the same. Audi's new interiors are superb, but I agree, the German exteriors are too safe. Each new model looks too similar to the old. I loooove the Alfa Romeo Guilia and even more the Stelvio SUV, but I jumped in one the other day, and I thought, there is no way I can pay this amount of money and live with this plastic cheap interior.
I really like the rear with the narrow exhaust openings. But why do Jaguar have these plain boring rear lights? A darker deeper red would really look better. If they have to add separete reflexes then do it :P Otherwise a really beautiful car. But wouldn't wanna own it out of warranty as.. well. It's a Jaguar :P
Sorry Thomas, like your revieuw, but you made some big flaws about the interieur/ doors , normally you are more precisely , sorry for my bad spelling ! Mercedes c/ Audi A4/ VW Passat , look from the inside much more premium/ better quality etc. Also the styling from the outside, I found it very boring, would never consider this car, Big respect for all your effort, watching many reviews from your whole team, and Love it most of the time very much
hmmmm watching now 2 hours after UCL final or tomorrow first thing in the morning? I have decided watching now and tomorrow first thing in the morning also, since is on my top 3 cars at the moment!!!!
Wrong. I drove an S Type for 14 years. Spent 3k after 11 years on replacement shocks, brake calipers, heat shield etc. Other than that it only had an annual service. Not a single breakdown. This in Scotland with cold wet winters and salt on the roads. 25k for car, 3k for unused extended warranty, and 3k for maintenance type wear and tear repairs in addition to 12 services. Cheap motoring in a luxury car. Get a jag and drive it before making throw away comments
