About The Guest:
Jakob Schubert is one of the greatest competition climbers ever.
In 2023 he won the World Championships in both lead and combined, secured his ticket to the Paris Olympics, sent his first 9c with his FA of ‘B.I.G.’, and sent his hardest boulder with ‘Alphane’ 9A. We talked about his incredible year, learning from Adam Ondra’s risky and efficient climbing style, what he learned from failing on ‘Sleepwalker’ V16, plans for more 9c’s, and much more!

Adam's climbing style is so fast! It's especially impressive when he's on sighting. The level of precision is unreal! I've been trying to channel that speed in my climbing, and it definitely will take some time to get the precision up. But climbing fast definitely makes me feel less pumped.

1:19 is that how speedclimbing used to be? looks so much better than what it is now? just set a hard route and the first one up wins, that seems like a much better proof of skill? :D

It's a different format. They still do it in some competition like the RockMaster in Arco and it's called Lead Duel. I mean speed climbing it's just different and shouldn't be compared with the traditional one, it's just another thing with a different set of skills.

Speed is your friend on hard sections. Simon Lorenzo does this so well on boulders, he has excellent footwork and moves through precisely and with speed. Commen sense really to move through hard stuff fast to save energy

Common sense yes, but it is really hard to pull it off all the time. A lot of holds benefits from readjusting, specially pockets and uneven crimps.

@@qweasd9153 i wasn't saying to be sloppy with technique, but to move fast doing everything u need to do and taking it easier when u get to rests or easier sections
