jacarasunny You are so right if you mentally and physically unable to pay your own bills that’s when you do a power of attorney, but I will never understand why these players need financial advisors. In every sports league you only play the sport for a couple of months you mean to tell me you can’t get your moms, father, sister, brother, or even aunt, or a uncle you trust to tell you what bills you got and how much everything is, and you take care of it later it’s that simple..

Its easy to say that, but when you're young, rich, and never had money before, it feels like its never gonna stop. You feel like you're the man, and it also makes you an easy target for predators. The NFL has mandatory courses for rookies about money and contracts, but at the same time, you can't make someone do something they don't want to do. Some ppl just have to learn the hard way, unfortunately.

Bad call Jalen. Unfortunately, this type of financial scamming will ALWAYS occur. Crooks will find a new way to scam these athletes who’ve never seen such large sums of money 💰 in their life. Also, many of these “scholar” athletes have an AVERSION TO READING. Sad but true...

@gaffle7646 4 года назад
@@faheemcurtis-khidr7409 I agree sir. I don't mind reading but my eyes glaze over when it comes to legal jargon. Considering that, you've got to imagine it being worse if you're close to illiterate or remedial. On another note, Jalen mentions these guys should know better based off previous player's dealings and financial hardships... NOT! If this were the case, gold diggers and thots would come up with dust when dealing with these men. Instead, they get anchor babies and hit the jackpot off baby-mama status. Men need to do better in protecting their money and $eed.
@faheemcurtis-khidr7409
@faheemcurtis-khidr7409 4 года назад
@@gaffle7646 this is true, functional literacy is essential. There is alot of truth to that. I would like to see players that have been drafted/on a rookie contract complete a month long training which focuses on navigating the pitfalls of being a professional athelete. At a seminar like that former players like Jalen and others could come in talk directly to the young athletes about being a pro. All of the details particularly socio-ecnomically. I dont think a week is enough for most players.

If you're a millionaire athlete and don't know how to handle money, you need a Financial Advisor, a Private banker, a CPA, and possibly a lawyer One for investments, one for banking, one for taxes, and the other just in case. Have all of them check the other's work and suggestions.

Most athletes loose their money by investing in things they know absolutely nothing about - Why buy a restaurant when you never been to culinary school much less school of business? - Why start a record label when you know absolutely nothing about the music business? - The list goes on - Athletes hire people without checking their backgrounds - Not checking out their previous clients and business dealings - Athletes also hire family which is a big mistake - Most black athletes would rather put a "Brotha" or "Sista" in control over their money thinking they wont do them wrong just because their the same race - Big mistake

its not fate, its psychology, most people trust titles and names, it makes the person sound smarter, more professional and under some type of regulation so they think they're the people to trust. its the same as keeping your money in a bank, people think its secure because they feel its a corporate body that is under guidelines and regulation, but most people dont really know how and even if their money is really protected.
