He saying u made it personal by attacking me. Jalen said skip took it personal. But it was jalen that why he brought up skip hs shit. Pay attention smh
@@ayyemoedc5533 Skip was mad cause Jalen brought up something without knowing the facts about what he commented and in Journalism that is a no no. Your success is based on gathering facts. That's all this was about. Jeez. Skip even said to go ahead and ridicule him for his poor stats. He didn't care about that.
Brad Bennett What facts did Jalen not get? That Skip had problems with his coach and playing time? I’m pretty sure Skip doesn’t go out and get details like that after every game. Jalen stated his Skips numbers. Jalen stated that facts. He didn’t say any opinions. Skip heard how Jalen stared the facts and got offended. He didn’t call skip out of his name. Didn’t say that he was a terrible player. Just said when Skip played Varsity and what numbers he averaged. 🤷🏾♂️
That's their job the point is Jalen Rose chose to be media now before you attack me I Rose is one of my favorite players of all time he is married to Molly who hosts that show now & on Jalen & Jacoby & I'm sure has a lot more going on. Just saying Jalen Rose chose to be media & crossed the line.

If you watch this and the other videos on the topic it gets very frustrating to watch. Not because it's a debate but because Skip, Steven A, and Rob Parker are not understanding something so simple. They are arguing that funny name calling is part of reporting and has been for a while. That is true. They all agree that they have the freedom to call a person a name. It's unfair but also true. They all say that it's not their responsibility for how the athlete feels about it. Also true. But they are all missing the point entirely. The question is about journalism ethics and whether it is right, fair, or form of fair practice to call a person a noun other than there name to describe their performance. I'm not sure what their contract says, but I'm pretty sure sure that every network has a rule on the range of how far a demonstrative name a host or reporter can say. The definition of a sports "reporter" is a person who reports and analyzes a team or athletes performance and reports their stats and their opinions on their performance. I would have to check with a lawyer for sure because this is very sticky from network to network. However... a report by the very definition of it would report clear and quantifiable stats: Who played, what time, points, scores, injury reports, comments made by the athletes in game or in conference, etc. All of those things can be described without a nickname or funny commentary because each one already has a name for the type of stat, ( time, points, rebounds etc., Direct quotation from athlete). Technically anytime they use a name other than their given name they are potentially crossing the line, because any other name other than a direct reports of quality: Good, bad, lower, higher, not as much as, . Is a potential risk because that leaves room for interpretation erego the potential for a negative interpretation. Joe might think scrub is a funny way to describe a poor performance, but Bob may interpret that as an insult, because the term is not within the real if qualifying language. Now would I want commentary that never does funny anecdotes. Heck no, .....but using the arguments they used, ie in sum "I'm not responsible for their feelings", "Sports figures get paid big money they should take it" etc. Is something that may well be something that a reporter can get away with because the media can control and create a narrative. Nevertheless it doesn't answer the real question. Is it fair, best practice, or just to call an athlete a nickname to describe their performance? Since it technically goes outside their job description and has the potential to cause controversy and potential for claims of slander and or libel. It certainly isn't best practice. It is relatively just and or fair considering if the analyst used language within their network guidelines. The answer is no name calling is not fair and or just because it brings potential dangers to the athlete network and analyst and is outside their literal job description. Best practice: To use language that if in the event name calling or or funny anecdotes are used that they acknowledge the potential risk that they invoke and have the anecdote followed or preceded by the analysts reasoning for the anecdote. Language suggestions should be given to their report hence language such as, "The reason why I said ##$#$$$ was because in my definition of " clearly indicating the potential risk and name call and why they felt the need to describe their performance and or person that way despite it being out of their necessary job description.
Yea, Jalen stood strong even when they was clearly threatening his job and changing the talking points. Got to take my hat off to this brother. Jalen never lost his cool and stayed consistent with his facts.
@@korrysipp yea I went back and watch that whole show and they tried to make jalen apologize to skip for talking his truth but he didn’t lol. We are in a world where criminals are celebrated and honest people are villains, now how does that work? Kwame Keep speaking for the normal people like me who don’t have an audience. ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
Skip and Steven A have no right calling a professional player a scrub or anything like that. They never played in the league and are disrespecting millions of players by saying that. How is a man a scrub who played all those years and made millions? What does that make everyone else who never made it? The man is now retired and living a good life as a family man so give him respect. This is all about Kwame regardless of what other examples they use and they were clearly wrong. The only people to blame for Kwame not living up to his draft status are the ones who hyped him then drafted him number 1 not him for being a teenager playing ball.

Y’all clearly missed everything. There was A LOT he didn’t report on Allen Iverson. Because it was personal AND NEVER GOT OUT TO THE MEDIA. No video, audio etc. He’s a reporter and did his job. Even Allen Iverson spoke on this very topic and said Smith wasn’t wrong.

I can see both sides of this argument. If I had one complaint it would be that it didn't stay between Skip and Jalen. In my opinion Stephen A. didn't offer anything of real value. If anything he stole time by getting overly loud and made himself the center of attention.
You’re wrong. Stephen a has gone on record saying that Jordan has complained to him about how he says stuff. To the person that said “they are in the same fraternity.” Stephen A just became a member of our organization in the last 7 years. When mike played, they weren’t bruhz

@@tssss1197 it was never the job to be gossip columnists. They created that shit and now fans who didn't know a time before these dudes think it's normal. It's really because this new generation are like females wanting to hear gossip and personal shit, when back the day it was purely about the sport. The only time we learned about personal shit was when the athlete wanted to share it or there was a huge scandal that was reported on the new in general. These days you hear these idiots talking like women about these athletes, giving them names like ex girlfriends, gossiping at what they're doing off the court, trying to stir up beef with their teammates or other athletes. They're on some girly shit because y'all r all bich raised.
The point is, journalist like Stephen A and Skip at some point started to believe they were as important as the players with real life talent... They dont understand that they only have a career because of the athletes... The athletes dont owe the reporters a got damn thing
Jalen: "So asking you means I'm reporting it?" Skip: "Absolutely." Jalen should have ended the debate right then, you can't win an argument with idiots.
@Kenny Jalen asked if it was true... he didn't ask WHY it was true...he ran with the fact it was true and he's now using it to discredit Skip.... which is wrong.........like if you ask Jordan how many points he scored in his second season and MJ says "not many" and now you tell MJ to stop talking about being a consistent scorer....but you never bothered to understand that he broke his foot and missed the season that year....
Yeah, okay lol Skip put him in his place. To this day Jaylen is an NBA analyst, and no one value's what he says. Skip on the other hand, is not only still on the air, Fox Sports courted his services, and he legit makes millions of dollars now, with Shannon Sharpe, debating.. 🙂
Can someone please tell Skip that Jalen didn't lie on anything? The info that was released regarding about Skip's basketball senior year season CHECKED OUT, meaning IT WAS TRUE. Jalen never dug it up but learned about it the way others did. Hell, I learned of it before Jalen called Skip out. Plus, trash talk is freedom of speech because it goes both ways: you judge others, others judge you. Jalen played 14 consistent years in the NBA so he knows what the hell he's talking about.
Skip never answered Jalen's question made it about him and then they proceeded to say why their opinions matter more than anyone else's opinion because they get paid
Wow. Kwame Brown becomes truer and truer with each receipt I pull on these serpent- tongued "journalists"... Jalen Rose and Kwame Brown are the honest type of men that this world needs.
They're just basketball players bro. Jalen said he outplayed Jordan (when he was on the wizards) one time and the video shows Old Jordan still waxed Jalen. What about Jalen putting Chris Webber's personal business out there?
@@michaelrobinson540 if Jalen did that, then he violated as well. "They're just basketball players" is the same narrative these White exploiters push to minimize our value as men. How can people who didn't play a minute in the league denigrate a man who was in the NBA for a decade?! I could understand the disrespectful talk if these haters were in the league and actually busting his behind on the court... But to be chirping on the sidelines for money is a bad look (Unless it is a person who values money over respect).
@@marcusdarden1535 I read your point but Kwame was in the NBA because he was 6-11. If he was 6-4 he would be just another nobody. The media plays dirty but they've carved out their roles. The athletes and celebrities make millions so its only fair that they have to take unfair criticism the second their performance isn't good.
@@michaelrobinson540 there are plenty of 6-11 players that didn't last for 12 seasons. I've been listening to all of Kwame's videos, and he brings up an interesting point: kids coming out of high school and going straight to the league was costing college basketball a lot of money. The powers that be wanted to eliminate the possibility of that happening, so they made it seem like he was sorry to deter others from skipping college. Soon after Kwame, the league made the rule that you had to go to school for 1 year and had to be 19 to go to the league. Why? To get at least a little more money off these young black men (who may have been poor like Kwame).
Both of Skip’s main arguments are bogus. The claim that Jalen didn’t do his homework was absurd. He did in Fact average 1.4 ppg. The rest of that sorry excuse of a story was not remarkable in any way and does not paint him to be a superior player. If he were good he would have been on the court 😂 Jalen’s fortitude was quite remarkable. At the end of the day the amount of money you make does not mean you don’t have the right to get offended. Skip also claims name-calling is part of his job but got offended when Jalen, another media member, called him Water Pistol Pete Jr. On top of all this, Jalen was not allowed back on First Take even for schooling these guys 1-on-2.
NO HE DIDN'T...! THEY ALL MADE GOOD / FAIR POINTS, FROM THEIR (UNIQUE) PERSPECTIVES... THEY ALL HAD CLEVER, SMART, ENTERTAINING etc... POINTS... AND ARTICULATED THEM WELL.
Imma tell y’all what’s really going on here. Jalen was just coming to ESPN as an analyst. And he was better than skip and mabe Stephen A. He was extremely unbias on every topic. He basically was a rogue analyst. ESPN skip wants him to pick a side the media or else. Jalen is like this is the truth.
3:40 that prove kwame point... Iverson was yo boy and you still basically sold him out yea he told everybody he with his daughter while partying but when yo BOSS Told you yo report on it what you do report it on it that says your boss dictate everything you do which is understandable but still iverson show you so much love and gave you a jump start to yo career
Jalen is dispelling what this show is about, and that's why he had to go. Jalen always speaks his mind, but these guys are "entertainers" nothing else. Jalen didn't fit.
@@willsamson8758 does the teammate have "skill" to check personalities?? if the government checked his "mental state" and based on his DNA evidence that he's gay that's a good evidence.. but stamping that the info from teammate as a solid evidence is laughable at best
HOW CAN SKIP BE OFFENDED?!!!!! THIS IS WHAT HE DOES ALL THE TIME! Does skip know why kwame brown didn't develop? but jalen is supposed to know skip's story thats BS
You’re an idiot. Lacking in perspective? Using terms and sentences you don’t understand. You perceive one as criticism and another as slander. Others see the two as the same. What makes your perspective the right one? Just the fact so many others see what I see, should tell you that skips “criticism” isn’t just criticism. It’s insulting. Was then with bosh spice and is now with George Paul etc. So when he gets given it too. Best be man enough to swallow whole.
The truest thing that anyone could say, was said by Jalen. EVERYONE will say that if they were in someone's position, they would work harder, be better etc. UNTIL they get that position. Once they do, they don't end up saying what they said they would. Just think about it, people would do almost anything for $1M but somehow, there are a whole bunch of ungrateful millionaires.
Skip: you hurt my feelings Jalen: you talked about my skills first Skip: no, that doesn’t matter, I can talk about you or anyone else, but you can’t talk about my basketball failures.
Skip & Stephen got some nerve. They talk about people & their games all the time. Skip got some real nerve to get all girly & sensitive about Jalen questioning his game. Love the show but those guys are two rank hypocrites.
yea its not about the game, its the creditbility of what skp bayless has done.., when a reporter or journalist such as skip or stephen A or anyone speak about an athletes play , they speak on what is VISIBLE, you cant deny what you see on tape! , so how are they hypocrites??
Skip and Stephen A. have absolutely no shame. They both need to stop talking for a change and actually take a look in the mirror. They are so hypocritical , biased, and sensitive. I hate it when all of the topics for the show are only about their favorite teams. Soooo much stuff happens in the sports world on a daily basis, and all these clowns want to fret about are: the Cowboys, Romo, Aaron Rodgers, Lebron James, Tebow, Manziel, etc.
@@alexgalarza6908 what kinda of credibility Skip bayless have?? he's not speaking objectively to LeBron and Kawhi the moderator on the other made a great quote "skip you always focus on lebron on the single ugly pixel while disregarding the overall beautiful picture about him" how can you shaming someone and have the audacity to whine when they retaliate back? thats the same as police shooting an innocent civilian while if the guy retaliates, it will be classified as "criminal". and then at the same time he and SAS protects Michael Jordan like he's a Jesus and anybody that mentioned his name in comparison must be crucified and even be dead what kind of journalist that is credible shaming other people and then defend the guy they liked? (if somehow you can defend his credibility like a dickrider then go ahead) and then to SAS, regardless what he's mocking he's an idiot 75% of the time, what kind of entertaining show, that fills with "shouting nonsense and interrupting other people" while himself "don't want to get interrupted". and then if you're a sane human being, someone calling your name and questioning your integrity, who the fuck wouldn't be pissed?? also the moderator in this video alone is 100% more logical and understands from both POV and CAN TAKE THE POSITIVE NOTES about it, WHILE Skip and SAS completely ignoring what jalen was thinking about 'shaming other people while being a whiny bitch when being called'
Well conducted fab fiver. Way to show class as well as make great points!!!! Keep up the great work. Let them show themselves while they think they show others. Bravo
Another example is how Stephen A repeatedly calls Jamarcus russel "Jabba the Hut" but when Ryan Clark insulted him about his hairline, the very next day he responded like an emotional little girl. But then have the nerve to say "Athletes today are too soft". Its nit that their soft, its that their fed up with these journalists taking needless shots at them to make a name for themselves and get paid.
Jalen Rose was on point with this entire argument. Skip was only upset cause he was exposed. But at the end of the day the sports media and media in general shapes the energy people feel about public figures. And then they get mad when those public figures clap back at them. It’s corny
But Jalen did do his Homework, he presented Skip with straight up Statistics from his time playing Ball in Black and White. How many times has Skip brought up a Players Stat's without out elaborating on the circumstance's that led to them?
When she used the word "bloviate" I thought to myself wow, that's exactly what his life is based on. Talking at length about a topic, in an empty way. 😩😩😩
Anyone that has a problem with a critic doesn't understand a critics job. If you are talking about someone personally that's different, but if they are criticizing your game then that's fear game. When you sign up to be a professional or celebrity you are open for all criticism. That's what comes with the territory.
It's funny how they wanna validate the constant belittlement and bullying tactics but when the pressure is applied they deflect and deny taking any responsibility or accountability for their actions jus because you're in a position to speak on someone from an elevated position doesn't give you the right to slander discredit or smear anyone's character by saying whatever you want
Jalen is right on this. My problem with Skip is that even after Jalen apologized to him off air, he is still clearly pissed at him. This is why I stopped apologizing to people. Jalen is a real man. But, I'm done apologizing to anyone 🤣
Thats because Skip was embarrassed. He doesnt want to be considered a pro athlete, but his ego wants him to be considered by the public to be enough of an athlete that hes NOT seen as one of these sports reporters like Mitch Albom, Peter King, and Mike Lupica, who look like nerds and people who have NEVER played a sport well, in their lives. He thinks that being a promising athlete, being screwed by circumstances, gives him more credibility and truth to what he says, and Jalen crushed that lol.
