Saw this live and will never forget it the day I become a big Jaylen Rose fan.... and now aging like fine wine..... #Jaylen was serving mama’s cooking before mama’s cooking was popular.
WTH are y'all talking about? Jalen was absolutely right! You're sitting here and degrading someone who's not there to defend themselves. To me that's a PUNK move!
@@andrewa8161 exactly, but that serves the show and it’s interests, not so much as to provide a platform for the athlete. The fact that most don’t show up to “debate” these losers is because them coming on the show in a way validates what was said about them
I remember this clearly, Skip damn near cried. They had to come back and do a whole show to try and smooth it over because Skip was about to cry because his feelings were hurt
Stephen A has told Skip that he didn't know what he was talking about 'as usual'. And he has the nerve to lecture Jalen. Stephen A is such a hypocrite.
Steven A is phony perhaps he at least is aware of this and can work on it, because this same level of personal criticism is absent in Hockey, MLB, Soccer and Tennis. Meaning they go out of their way to promote 3 major sports yet athletes should be generally treated equally---which too often ends up not happening. The sport industry has hockey baseball tennis and golf analysts who examine the sport without singling out their play in such negative and moronic terms. In an ironic twist of fate Steven A and Bayless benefit from covering these major sports by salary and contracts and should demonstrate more discretion in how they cover these men. Jalen is very correct about the personal attacks and name calling as it is not universally repeated in other sport analyst's programs. This is unique in the 3 major sports and Steven A and Bayless cant pretend its okay when hundreds of other analysts not covering the big 3 approach their athletes, in heathly and respectful manners. Track and Field may be the only black dominated sport in the premier sprint events where they rise to great prominence without the negative and personal attacks, with some notable exceptions.
Jalen is not a b**** ,.....he is calm and collected. This is the way debates should be done . GOD wants us to have a spirit of gentleness...GOD Bless you all !
Jalen Rose is low key so clever. Watching this back I realized that every time Skip accuses Jalen of saying Skip doesn't know what he's talking about be he didn't play (which Jalen never said), Jalen always claps back with "| never said that. Plenty of women do a great job reporting on men's pro sports". This statement is basically intimating two things: 1. Skip is of the same importance to men's pro sports as women reporters are. And 2. Skip has the same knowledge and influence as a reporter does, which is insulting Skip's qualifications and credibility since Skip views himself as an analyst. You could tell every time Jalen clapped back with that statement, another little piece of Skip died inside. Jalen ripped this man's heart out back to back nights on live TV. What a legend.
Skip getting mad at Jalen proves his mindset back then. He got all upset cuz Jalen gave him the truth in which he didn't like. His coach gave him the truth by benching his ass. If Skip was as good as he tried to proclaim then why work on your game so that u earn at least more minutes ?? He ain't like it so he got upset and cried about it then went to the school paper so he could bash his school athletics. He carries that mental till this day, he doesn't like what you said or did he gon use the media to bash you.
Start at 12:30 and listen for a few seconds. You'll hear Stephen A say that he doesn't do "name-calling", which has been proven to be false on more than one occasion.
Just my opinion so I could be wrong, but this seemed like a giant misunderstanding. It was a conversation about positions, so I took Skip asking Jalen “what were you?” to mean what position were you when you played. Jalen seemed to take it in the dismissive “you can’t have an opinion because what were you as a player” sense. It launched an important discussion but it seemed rooted in an honest but unfortunate misunderstanding.
i think jalen was looking for any reason to use that insult cause I remember him doing an interview on the whole situation and saying he had these insults ready for any opportunity and sure he could have misunderstood it, but i think he was salivating using that insult any moment he could and would have been used eventually anyways.😂
Jalen was talking about name calling in the context of demeaning or destroying someone's character. We play the dozens our whole lives, especially when we were children. As an adult, when you call someone "a name", it's usually in an affectionate manner, jokingly if you will. That's what happened here.
Couldn't agree more. At least he was impartial, as far as the who the debaters were and what common sense about the topics were. I missed the days of Cold Pizza and 1st and 10. It's funny how they make a disclaimer that everything was genuine while following it up with commentary that proves it. You'll never anything like this on First Take. Fuck them for placating to ratings. ESPN used to be the one place I could go to and feel like I wasn't being had, thanks Obama....
thanks for uploading the whole thing dude loved watching these "threatened scribes" (they can't stand athletes coming on their turf) try and shut jalen down and fail to do so
He should take a look at why the job he has exists. It's not just positivity all the time. On the show, it says by his name "Jalen Rose NBA Analyst" not "Jalen Rose Public Relations".
I think the difference here is that what Jalen called Stephen was 1, not a derogatory nickname nor was it something negative like "Jabba the Hut Russell" or what he calls Kwame Brown. And 2, Stephen was on live with Jalen so he could respond
Jalen got this. Too funny how these “two sports” commentators want to prove their point by speaking out loud or being animated. Keeps going out topic ... this tabloid reporters sheesh !! Lol
The issue is some analyst cross the line when they question and say something about an athletes integrity, Most of the time Skip and Stephen a Cross the line in insulting athletes like Lebron james for celebrating and looking happy during offseason when he hasn't won a ring. What the hell is that? So they mean LBJ can't be happy because he didn't win a championship ring? They insult other people, yet they WHINE on espn first take when other people fires back at them, and they took it personal
I like how Skip can sit up there day after day...5 days a week and say whatever he feels about a person, but the minute someone brings out FACTS about his lie on air they make it into a whole 45 minute segment. Funny, he and Stephen A call athletes soft and too sensitive but out of allllllll the athletes they've spoken about badly, how many have responded??? The minute ANYONE says something about them they have to respond right away. So who's really the sensitive ones?
Bottom line is that Skip couldn’t handle it when Jalen gave Skip a bit of his own medicine. Skip tries to justify his name calling and SAS just riding Skip’s jock. Everything else that Skip & SAS said was to make Skip not accountable for his actions.
I do too, theyre passionate, skip more often than stephen a but i like them both, jalen rose doesnt seem to debate, mad respect as a player for jalen but he cant debate
It's not professional for Jalen to tackle skips integrity in public. It's a low blow, and Stephen A got hot at him. As for the argument on media criticism, it goes both ways. Sports stars are elevated financially from media popularity. Drama that media creates brings much more money to the table. However, insulting a man's character, work ethic, family, personal life.. Could cross the line only if it's not completely true.
Lol if Jalen had just said that...skip would've shut up..and the debate would've ended. Then they would've continued onto new topics. INSTEAD Jalen brings up the media thing..THEN they add the fuel to the flame that is STEPHEN A. SMITH..and somehow the debate rages on for another hour. Lol...classic.
i agree with stephen a. athletes feel in order to be a analyst you should have playing experience but are quik to take a commentating job with no degree in the the field
That's sad if you're a junior and you still play JV, but now we know why skip bayless hates derrick rose and russell westbrook because their scoring point guards and skip couldn't be one in high school and he's basically jealous that they are
He didn't get mad when Skip answered, he got mad when Smith got involved and tried to talk down to him. So you're saying Jalen should mind his business. Wabout Skip? You say Jalen should respect Skip. What about Skip respecting Jalen? You say Jalen should not take it personal. What about Skip? You sure give Skip alot of passes. Why is that? What is the difference between Jalen and Skip that allows Skip to treat Jalen and any other player like him that way?
I have no problem with reporting pr analysts etc. Where we have a problem is the utter LACK OF RESPECT shown to Professional athletes. Truth is, steven a, you want their job. You can't say "thiago splitter" like you could even hang with him on the court. When you don't show the appropriate respect to athletes who've earned their dues being where they are. No one is gonna show you the respect as an analyst either
