Tried this today. It was so easy and turned out great. I used double cream instead and after I whipped it I separated it into two and made a strawberry flavour too. I blended the strawberries and just added it to the whipped cream. Delish! Who knew making ice cream could be so easy

I crave that stuff! When I was in Jamaica in the 1980's, a guy came riding around on an old moped. He had a cooler on the back and stopped at various places along the road. All the kids would run up for ice cream and I think he sold them for 10 cents. Some kids didn't have a dime, but they shared licks! We were there for two weeks, and I could not take the heat, it was June. If I wasn't in the water, I was in the room. We showed up at the time he stopped on day and we asked if we could buy some. He said yes. We knew all the kids didn't have money, and we bought "a round for the house". It was by far the one and only time I had REAL rum raisin ice cream. I always wondered how it was made and it's soaking those raisins that makes it taste the way it does. I have this book marked. Tart Cherries are coming into season where I live and I will be making Cherry Bounce-made much the same as these raisins. Then I'm making ice cream with those and the raisins for Christmas.

You can make grapenut ice cream using the Chef's methods. The base is the same which is the whipping cream condensed milk and vanilla. Only difference is to use 1Cup of post grapenuts and allow them to soak in the whipping cream to soften and infuse flavor. Once the grapenuts have softened strain the whipping cream and beat the cream to stiff peaks as instructed. Mix the softened grapenuts, condensed milk, and vanilla in a separate bowl as instructed. Incorporate both mixtures together and freeze as instructed. Enjoy!!!!
