James Brown performs "Night Train" on the TAMI Show (Live) [Reaction] 

James Brown was 31 years old, when he and The Famous Flames performed on the 1964 Rock concert film, “The TAMI Show”. It was the greatest gathering of Rock music artists until Woodstock in 1969. I highly recommend that you buy a DVD copy of this concert film for your home video library.

James Brown is my favorite entertainer of all time since 1968 when I was 12 years old. I saw him over 100 times in concert I have all of his records. So basically anything you wanna know I can tell you. He was 31 years old here. The TAMI SHOW was a rock/soul concert with The Rolling Stones and other groups. They followed him in the show which was a big mistake. And Mick Jagger actually try to do some of his dance moves. This is the earliest concert footage of James Brown that I have seen. Keep in mind his first record was on 1956 PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE. From the age of 22 on he was even much faster than he was here, there are so many recollections of him on stage at that time my former band members and people like that saying he used to do backflips off of pianos onto a split and things like that. But there’s really no footage available that I’ve ever seen before this. The whole portion of his show on here was great. So if you wanna react to all four songs they are OUT OF SIGHT, PRISONER OF LOVE, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE and NIGHT TRAIN. That show causes his famous cape routine better than any other filmed performance.

JAMES BROWN first began his career as a member of the singing group THE FAMOUS FLAMES…not as a SOLO ARTIST fronting a Funk Band. He had many hits with THE FLAMES…and THE FAMOUS FLAMES were inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012. James was inducted separately in 1986.

Just watching this performance wears me out, he just whipped that crowd into a frenzy and kept pushing and pushing with those electric dance moves. Can you imagine being the group that had to follow this? Yeah, the Rolling Stones had to follow this showstopper.

He wasn’t called the Godfather of Soul for nothing- he influenced EVERYBODY. ❤❤❤There’s video of the Jackson Five auditioning for Berry Gordy- and MJ does this exact dance- at such a young age.

Now about your reaction, I think it was an excellent reaction. Every time you paused it and spoke about it you gave good insight into it that’s what I look for when I watch reactions.

I first saw James Brown in concert in 1962, when I was a college student in Tennessee, 20 years old at the time. It was at a concert and dance at a venue in the black part of town, when there was official racial segregation. A few of us white music lovers were confirmed to the Balcony above the dance floor. It was the peak experience of my early years for sure. I always get excited whenever I see this cut. This was before he crossed over, so to speak, and was known mostly by The black community. I saw him several times after that in the 60s in Memphis. Yeah, the sound quality on this is terrible, but it was just a recording for television. I am happy to see younger generations get just as enthusiastic as I was about old JB.

James Brown was supposedly 30 at this time, however there was reports that JB signed a number of documents claiming he was born in 1928. People from the day always dogged him because of his age, or mystery thereof. JB mentioned his biographies that the first video performance was in 1961 on American Bandstand. There is a few other TV performances of JB(Shindig) on here from 1963.

Here is some history to what you are seeing....this was 1964 and this was a movie concert called T.A.M.I show.....it featured the top acts of that time on this one show.....one of the biggest acts of that time were the Rolling Stones....they were the closing act....James performed next to last.....when Rolling Stones saw James performnce lead singer Mick Jagger got sick to his stomach and said how are we gonna follow James performance.....i wish you had shown the full James performance.....its 4 songs and like about 17 min....James Brown's T.A.M.I performance is listed as one of the greatest of all times......and yep this is the young JB who inspired many to come after including MJ and Prince

James Brown was definitely born on May 3, 1933 in Barnwell South Carolina. The 1928 date that’s been floating around is completely erroneous, they mixed him up with another James Brown, born in Tennessee.

These young people today….they are TOO YOUNG to remember when. JAMES BROWN used to be in a SINGING GROUP…THEY are called THE FAMOUS FLAMES…and the OTHER members were : BOBBY BYRD (Yes…THAT Bobby Byrd) , LLOYD STALLWORTH, and BOBBY BENNETT. He was Lead Singer of The Famous FLAMES for well over a DECADE…YEARS before he became a solo artist leading a Funk band. Young people….don’t just look at VIDEOS….R😊EAD YOUR MUSIC HISTORY!!
