@karengreen83 Thanks for telling me about James' Country Idol performance. I watched it, and was completely blown away!!! I personally don't care for Country music, but I could listen to it all night if James was singing it!!! This proves that he can sing ANYTHING and make it sound spectacular!!!

James is so incredibly versatile!!! He can sing any genre of music (probably even country if he absolutely had to) as if it were all he knew how to perform. The passion and emotion he brings to this classic Sam Cooke song are unmatched by any other Idol contestant this year. James is a complete performer, putting his whole self--body, mind, and spirit--into every song he sings!!!

much more to the pop side of rock and roll. James' performance shows that he favors grit and complete abandonment of the restraints that come with pop music. This works very well for him, as he is quite obviously a heavy metal performer. And as any music historian will tell you, metal directly owes its existance to the blues, which is the approach james durbin took for this song. In conclusion, i will say that James won the competition over THIS SONG because his unrestrained metal/blues
well my opinion is that james rocks and deserved to win . and for those who compare him to adam lambert i compare to in some simple words. Adam is a show off artist(could be a dancer to) ,james is a natural born star ,he sings with passion and has and still have the courage to show in a program for masses that heavy n rock is only for "few" people. And only "few" people understand music. James do not sing for the money please,sing for the "few".
You know what annoyed me about Adam? He was supposed to be THE American Idol Rocker, singing Zeppelin and whatnot; then the guy comes out with one of the popiest albums I ever heard. James on the other hand, seems like the kind of guy who'll stay true to himself. Out of all the Idols ever, he's the only one I'd go and buy his album. (Well, Haley as well).

shows a lot more soul and passion than Lambert's performance. Now to be fair, Lambert's performance of 'Tracks of my tears' is one i love a lot and i think defines him as the musician he is. However, the purpose of this comparison was to show the obvious differences between the two, and 'My Change is gonna come' certainly highlights those differences. Ok, take it or leave it, that is the only comparison i will ever publicly make between the two.
This shall be my one and only comparison between adam lambert and james durbin, and i shall make as objective as possible. Adam lambert is indeed an extremely talented rocker with a tendancy for flare in his stage performance (specificly, the costume) James also has all these tendencies, but definately doesn't hold back on the flare i mentioned earlier (and that's a very good thing in his case) Contrasting the two singer's performance of this song, one can clearly see how Adam lambert leans
@Sulsalogan And Adam's clarity and technique squashes James. I'm not sure how high Adam's range is for sure, but if he went for it, I bet he could get higher and still be clearer, and given how clear his notes are, if Adam were to put as much effort into hitting the notes as James clearly does, he'd probably be able to get higher and still maintain a better technique and tone than James does.
@xosamxo54 Meh, it really depends on people's taste. Adam could be better for some, and for some, James is the "10 x better." Adam is a bit more popish, while James, on the other hand is more on metal. Two different genres. As for me, I love James Durbin. He ain't a copycat, he ain't the next Lambert, and hell, he'll never be an Adam Lambert. James will be James.
@AIReject Adam obviously has a naturally clear tone, whereas James does not. Also, why does such matter? I said that James clearly has more range than Adam, not even close to his tone/technique. And what you said is merely a theory. I don't like theories XD. If Adam were able to go higher, he already would have. With a more showoffy-ish (Yeah, just made that word up) personality like his, there's no way that he would hold such a thing back. Bottom line, James' range is greater.
James is the shit, he was voted off because the final 2 had more friends to spam txt votes. James, Casey or Scotty were the winner. Scotty is still in it and he has a a lot of talent but in my mind, he isn't the winner, no matter what happens.
This was so awful, i mean seriously, this was so bad. But hey, he got way better, like wayy better. All i heard in this was screaming, but now he knows to only use it a little in a couple of his songs. I used to hate him, but now he's my favorite out of all of them. I'm still bummed out that he was voted off, all his performances were the best.
who cares about the range when all you hear is someone trying to sing like a cat. plus, adam can go much much higher than his version of change is gonna come.
