Hi James, I'm an American and have been an avid viewer of your show. I usually do not comment, but I thank you for providing a platform to the teacher who shared her student's distressing plight. It not only highlights the ubiquity of food insecurity plaguing millions, but it endows similar stories with a vividness and authenticity often overshadowed amid the influx of data. Keep up the great work in 2024.

James is just as excellent at holding space for others and directing attention to those whose experience should be heard as he is at exposing the emptiness of bigots and ideological weirdos lol Sangita myska is excellent as well, I can't remember her schedule exactly but know she's there on Saturdays. Although not a direct answer, but James, Shelagh and Ian Dale did sit down and do a two-part program for Christmas, where they looked back at the year, looked forward to 2024, and did (to a degree) critique each other.

Just some words for encouragement from Australia. We've suffered endless decades dominated by tory liars, who like yours are now taking their cues from trump and maga. We finally got sick of the corruption (and it was nothing like as bad as johnson) and let Labor have a go. Calm your expectations, politics is politics, but at least hate isn't winning another day.

I'm so glad that I started listening to O'Brien this year. He is brilliant at challenging poisonous opinions by breaking them down to the base level, and he shows great compassion to sensitive topics and callers' predicaments. There needs to be more presenters like him around.

Hello johndewhurst ,,, during Jacob’s conversation with Mr O’Brien on James Radio show Mr Mogg allowed it to momentarily creep into the dialogue , of course O’Brien was immediately on it , ‘ Jacob that was originally used by the Sun Newspaper but they were forced to delete it “ because it wasn’t true , Jacob why are you still using it ? .

You don't have to do anything, the Thought Police still are as far as I know still not a thing (although we might be getting there 😏).

@@chatham43 ya I can’t imagine why. He was born to a single Irish mother and adopted by an Irish immigrant and raised catholic, so he is of Irish descent and heritage. There’s nothing particularly unusual about him, about 20% of the people of Britain have Irish ancestry.

"Voting is not like getting married, but like getting on a bus that is going in the right direction". This is a brilliant analogy and unless there is a major issue represented by only one or two parties (e.g. Scottish/Welsh independence) that you believe in, then it makes clear the folly of voting for a party just because you have always done so or your parents did. People need to seriously scrutinise the policies of their local parliamentary candidates better.

One thing that impresses me about Mr O'Brien is his ability to listen and learn. It's a quality I lack! But I have seen him take in information and adapt since being on this show and throughout his career and that is a quality that FEW of his colleagues possess. I'm not suggesting his stances or opinions are weak, but in terms of unconscious bias? He is an example of someone who is willing and able to evolve. There is hope for us all.

Greetings from Germany. I just wanted to let you know we all enjoy your program while travelling on our gold plated hot air balloons. Joking aside, it's at least comforting to see things are going poorly in other countries as well. I do wish Britain simply joined back, this time as a proper member with Euro currency and everything and we simply focused on actual problems - Not the ones we make ourselves out of boredom.
