I think people need to be realistic. The damage the Tories have done to the country is both serious and extensive. It is not going to be fixed quickly, perhaps not within this term of parliament.. The Labour government are going to have to make some hard decisions, and it's not always going to be easy. We aren't out of the woods yet, but I am hopeful.

I think you need to be more realistic. Labour are committed to the same austerity, fiscal drag, corporate prioritization, and culture wars, that have made the last 14 years so unbearable. And with the Tories in opposition and the youth vote going far-right, Labour have no reason to stray from that path.

@@SashaGrace94 I don't like the Green Party, yet I think next election from what you've said they will stand a better chance in getting your seat. Reform will take more Conservative votes next time across the board I would imagine, and that will take the pressure off of Green voters there to vote tactically. Plus I think Labour are going to loose their far left voters next election. I hope Labour do well, but if they don't, I think these last two decades should teach us that tactical voting doesn't seem to work, and you just got to vote for who you want, and be patient.

Keep in mind Reform had more coverage than the Lid Dems, Plaid, the SNP, all indpendents and Greens combined. Yet got 14% of the vote and 4 seats, where as they got 94 seats and 22% of the vote. Reform at times having equal air time to the tories and labour, there was talk of them being a 3rd party in the debates. This is why reform did so well.

Only 2 out of 10 people voted Labour. The rest either voted for another party or did not vote. Do we really live in a democracy?

You can't really count eligible voters who choose not to - that itself is a democratic decision (even if a bit worrying). I think the constant blowout polling state of this race since the date was announced dampened turn out a bit. Having the election on a Sunday or making poll day a bank holiday would probably help.

I think a lot of people didn’t vote. I remember talking to my hairdresser who is in her early 30s & couldn’t believe she wasn’t going to vote. Women gave their lives for our right to vote but she hadn’t a clue about that.

@@taefravis I am neither happy nor upset. I merely state facts and ask a pertinent question. This is the lowest proportion of the electorate to get a landslide I have ever seen. I think Thatcher and Blair got in with about one third of the total electorate voting for them. Personally I would prefer some form of PR.
