The forgotten locality. We owe it back to Jampeas to shine the spotlight on the locality that started it all for the Dwarf/Superdwarf trend and for the owner of Reach Out Reptiles himself. Come discover why we think these are seriously some of the coolest snakes on the planet!

The terms "Dwarf Reticulated Python" and "Super Dwarf Reticulated Python" are used to describe Reticulated pythons of the subspecies Satuprai and Jampeanus, along with half-blood crosses of these subspecies into mainland reticulated pythons to refine the amazing array of genetic morphs within that species, and reduce their size to something generally more suited to a life with humans. Unfortunately, these terms are often used to mislead uneducated buyers into purchasing snakes with insufficient Dwarf and SD influence (lower than 50% Dwarf/SD Blood), or by completely misrepresenting larger growing Retics altogether!
Pure locality Dwarf and Super Dwarf Retics from the Selayer, Jampea, Kayuadi, Tombolongan, Kalatoa, Madu, and Karompa islands of Indonesia form a group represented by two unique subspecies of Reticulated python that have actually adapted to live in harsh environments with their diminutive size- packing all the intelligence, confidence, and incredibly beautiful color and pattern of the world's longest snake into a tiny little package, some being even as small as corn snakes! Unfortunately, they are still quite rare in captivity, and difficult to find except through dedicated breeders.
At Reach Out Reptiles we dedicate ourselves completely to Dwarf and Super Dwarf Reticulated pythons like no one else in the world! We want everyone to be able to learn about this little known and under-appreciated, misunderstood, and highly misrepresented group of animals in a simple, straightforward way. Stay awhile, and connect with us, and with the WILD in you that really makes you HUMAN!

l would certainly take a Jampea in a heartbeat and l truly love the pure lines and l hope more get back into doing this. We are losing this in captivity and that is a shame. Keep doing what your doing Garrett, doing an amazing job.

That was enjoyable, I appreciate learning about the history and heritage of the animals. I would be super nervous to breed that female after the sad outcome for the one that produced this clutch you showed us and on the other hand I would certainly like to see this lineage preserved.
@ReachOutReptiles

It’s always a concern for breeding, one of the main reasons we work so hard to give our animals ample opportunity to build and maintain proper core strength, best diet, etc...

We also need to start preserving the locality here in Infonesia. I think People start taking more from the wild here and we need to preserve them before it is too late

Hey ROR! Can you guys do a video on retic taxonomy.. I know there is a lot lacking when it comes to classifying retics but even that information is not readily available to everyone . I find boa people push harder for taxonomy related stuff

id like a super dwarf retic but unfortunately i live in the uk, so they are hard to come by and the ones that i do i cant guarantee arent mainland retics which would be the last thing i want.

Ok I think I finally know enough and have enough want in my life for a SD , I am definitely interested in one this year , but the hardest thing is figuring out what local i want , I mean I would be happy with any , I do need something big enough to eat all these dang rats that I freeze that are oversized for my Amazon’s , Balls, and Ratsnakes, How better of a scenario, can I deposit on something or is it a Morph market deal ? How do I reserve one coming this year ? I live in Poconos and my Wife is originally from Pittsburgh, ttyl thanks

The reason there are no jampeas is because the money grubbers took over. They just wanted the money from morphs.

Funny how all things are cyclical. Now the Jampeas are worth more than most morphs.
