So delightfully weird. Thank you . I think my favorite part was the refrigerator ad.

i’m watching every single version of jane eyre tonight, this one’s so strange because of the very american-ness of it all! kevin mccarthy is always the doctor from invasion of the body snatchers for me, but i actually like this sorta kinda maybe rochester; thanks for sharing!

Yes I love and collect them all. The 3 best ones are the long ones of 5 + episodes. I never get tired of them. ####

Thank you! This one kept Charlotte's words intact. I'm on an 'Eyre' a thon. :-) Timothy Dalton and Zelah Clark 1983 hits her novel on the nose.

it was a better adaptation than the 1957 tv version.

+mstrsims2 Ah so you watched that one too! 100% agree, even though this was a little unmemorable for me. Will you be reviewing both soon?

+Charlene C I don't review all that much. It is only one person's opinion. But overall i liked the storyline better in this version. Finally watched the Scott/York version. I stayed away from that film for years because I thought they were both too old for the parts (he-43 she-31). But it wasn't too bad. Scott's gruff line delivery worked well for Rochester. I did miss the backstory of Jane's childhood, and the subsequent inheritance. I did like the way they played out the Rev/2 sisters sequence. That is a thankless role. At least he was given some depth of character.

I don’t like the blonde hair but this is better then some other adaptations from back then, at least it uses Charlotte Bronte’s actual language.

Thanks for uploading. I love these old oddities, and comparing the different adaptations of my favourite novel. This one isn't too bad and it's good to see a Rochester who isn't scowling all the time! Lol. It's great to see Doris Roberts (Marie in Everybody Loves Raymond) as Rochester's mad wife! :)

Thanks for posting this. It's so bad it's embarrassing! 😆It is the worst adaptation yet by every measure. However, it makes one appreciate the merits of the others.😀

This version is akin to the 1934 version but it is far better. It's far from good but far better than 1934.

It is more about the "morality" of the time this version was made than about the real content of the original novel. Sad truth.
@yvonnewood1
@yvonnewood1 6 лет назад
777...I agree, but it still is not half as bad as the 1934 version with the docile Mr. Rochester. That was really just WRONG!

Not I. Men of the NWO are eternally bro zoned at best and nemesis zoned at worst. I know my love too well to quote Morrissey. I guess nobody cares. You won the world, congrats 😎 I’m not interested and talk to the hand as per the popular 90s catchphrase ✋sinners of the earth (who earthblocked me from finding the one) Hope you’re happy earthlings. Please repent
