We are in Brooklyn Bridge Park, where we see the beautifully restored Jane's Carousel in action. This carousel has a long history and was originally built in 1922 by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company, and was originally located in Idora Park in Youngstown, Ohio. This carousel has had a storied life. From Youngstown, the carousel went into private ownership with the Walentas family. The Walentas family has since donated the carousel to the people who run this park, and it sits here today as a testament to restored classics everywhere. Enjoy the sound of the original pipe organ and drums (which are actually connected to a MiDi file player), as well as the horses and all the paintings, all of which have been meticulously restored. It take two bucks to pony up on this not-for-profit ride. It is well worth the money to take a ride back in time. Come see Jane's Carousel in the park. Enter from Dock Street or Main Street. If you have any questions about the video, feel free to message me. Comments are welcome. The video was taken on May 30th, 2012.

It is nice to see something from Idora park that survived. I always wondered what happened to the carousel and it ended up right here in NY. It is a shame that the Wildcat coaster from the park couldn't be saved as it was badly damaged by fire.

This is such a nice carousel! It just irks me a little bit that it runs so slow and the band organ shuts off when the ride stops. If you ask me, the music should be continuous and and keep the atmosphere whether the ride is running or not...

I agree with you 💯%. I grew up on the West Coast in San Francisco and we had a amusement park called Playland at the beach. It had a beautiful Charles ID Looff carousel that had 4 band organs operating on it. And even when the carousel wasn't running, one of the band organs was always playing. It was a very fast moving carousel too (around 22 mph). But sadly the amusement park was demolished in 1972 for condos. The carousel was eventually restored but with a new driving mechanism and motor that made the carousel run more slowly, and with no band organs, just taped CD music!!!!! 😡

This carousel is absolutely fabulous, along with the Bruder 107 band organ. The tunes are, 1. Faust Waltz 2. I'm D-Zug Gallop (On the Express)

@Wurlitzer157 Last time I checked, the Bruder 107 was also playing from the original cardboard organ books

When I went there I had no idea that this was originally from Youngstown, OH.

Too bad they cut off the band organ when the carousel is not moving

This organ is NOT the original organ that was at Idora Park. The original band organ was a Wurlitzer 153 and was sold to Jake DeBence in Franklin, Pa. It is now in the DeBence Music Museum in Franklin.

The facade I believe originally sat in front of the 153, however.

Also, it's not a 'Pipe Organ'. It has pipes, yes, but it is a self-playing band organ/fairground organ. I'm not sure if the organ plays MIDI but it is ACOUSTIC, not computer generated!
