Say what you want about Angela Yee, but if it wasnt for her research most of these interviews would be over in 5 mins or simply filled with small talk.
Black Kurama Her name is Janet Mock, she’s been interviewed by plenty of other straight men that took time to do research. Conducting an interview without doing any type of prior research is the definition of lazy and shortsighted.
@ Marrow Morrison (who preached, "Have a wonderful day my black brothers and sisters, stay woke and stay protecting one another"): This interview, more than any other Breakfast Club interview, needs your positive vibes.
perspicaciouscritic The Crying Game period they say you can't help who you fall in love with especially if you don't know who you falling in love with! S.P.E.E.C.H
Marrow Morrison positive vibes ? Get that fake crap out of here. Did you actually say this out loud to someone today in real life or just on youtube? Doubt it. It's fake
My thoughts exactly. And when he asked about her hair I was like really here we go again with the most Negro question I have ever heard is your hair real. B**** what if it is? Be classy some questions do not need to be asked. He needs to have more tact than that
As a gay male, there's a lot of things that I didn't understand about people who are transgender that I now do. I have much respect for Janet Mock and I commend HER for HER courage to speak out. Shout out to the breakfast club for this interview. Although there are people who just don't care to understand, but oh well. Life will go on, as it should.
No matter what people want to label her or call her , no matter how much someone might hate on her , this is a BEAUTIFUL human being , that can’t never b denied 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹❤️
An intellectual is up on this screen talking about the academy, intersectionality, inclusiveness, unity in the Black community, Audre Lorde, James Baldwin, identity politics, respectability politics, etc. and y'all giving dislikes? But y'all would sit and watch self-proclaimed rapist Rick Ross talk about lemon pepper wings.
I already know some comments will be disrespectful but i hope people listen so we can better understand each other and work but as a community. The black communities biggest issue is a lack of unity.
James Tyrell we will never have unity because black ppl find ways to not like other black people. For one gangs will not unify then religious blacks wont accept certain ppl then just because you may be a darker shade light skinned blacks might not accept you. Its always something and its terrible but its reality.
James Tyrell I think the real problem with black people is the fact we think every issue is exclusive to only us! A lot of you guys don't realize other races go thru the same thing. Including slavery! Shows how closed minded we can be to current events because of agenda.
Glad Janet mock was on here. This was an important interview for the Breakfast club to have. Angela Yee tends to get a fair amount of hate on here, but she is skilled at being compassionate and speaking on some more sensitive topics. Kudos to her... Envy on the other hand. Hahhahahha
Janet is the queen of decorum. They could not have continued to ask me personal intrusive questions about my body. Like she said, Google It. But this was good interview overall, no doubt because of both women present.
Janet Mock is intelligent and beautiful! As a cis woman, I don't feel threatened by Janet at all! I embrace her as another woman in the sisterhood. She's doing more for women than what I do on a regular basis! Some of you need to free your mind!!!
I was expecting the comment section to be like VladTV, where the majority is hating. But there's just as many open-minded, respectful, understanding people in the comment section. This is a beautiful, wonderful thing. :')
DJ Akademiks' Yeezy Plug, don't be childish . People are allowed to advocate for their cause. If we didn't live in a society where that was possible, black people would still be riding on the back of the bus
DJ Akademiks' Yeezy Plug nigga you know damn well if they went the whole interview without saying anything about her gender you would've thought she was cute. stop playing yourself
Narong Road lol she my worst nightmare. The ones that don't tell you. Plenty of love out there for all of us. You can find someone that'll except you, no need to trick me
Here's a crazy idea.Different people find happiness in different ways. Why not let people be whatever they want to be? Only time you should have any legitimate grievance is if you slept with some transgender person and they didn't tell you they were transgender. i'm 100% for transparency up front. But other than that, why get so worked up about how other people want to live their lives if they haven't caused you any harm? Life is too short to hold so much hate & vitriol.Maybe live and let live.
Chance The Trapper It's a gay agenda pushing the idea that it's okay to be gay when it's NOT okay, look at rappers today, look at this black man acting like it's ok to be gay. This is just another scheme by white people to end our race.
Innuendo Hazbarz You are comparing her being transgender to a murderer? Murders have victims, she does not. Why not just let people be happy with the one life they are given?
+Inneundo Hazbarz No offense my man, but did you really just compare sex change to murder? I think the difference between a murderer and a transgender is that the person having a sex change isn't harming anyone.
+DJ Akademiks' Yeezy Plug But ask yourself one thing. Have you ever heard of a man who was into women, then watched a couple advertisements with gays and turned gay?Anyone? Do you think after watching this video you're gonna say "i like men now"? You should raise your children however you want to raise. That's your prerogative my man. But i really don't think people just wake up and change their sexual preference after seeing a couple gay people on TV.
Innuendo Hazbarz actually she said she waited for months before she told her boyfriend who she was. She was young and made a foolish mistake. She told her now husband after 3 weeks of dating and no sex. Listen wholeheartedly not to what you want to hear.
I hate when white people say this like what do you mean she speaks well ? How did you expect her to speak ? You wouldnt say a white person is well spoken
Miss Mock handled this interview with such grace. Even when Envy and Charlemagne asked her very coarse questions regarding her physical surgeries and referred to her past episode of stripping as her being a man in a bikini on a stripping pole, she still played the game and smiled. This is why she is a champion for transgender rights. Her intelligence is astounding, and I love that she was able to educate without preaching.
Chaz * I think people are lacking empathy when the FIRST thing they want to know about a t.g. experience is all about the surgery and their sex lives...there are soooo many issues facing these folks that have nothing to do with sex and everything to do with marginalization, rights, economics, and personal freedom. They just don't seem to get it. Janet handled this with class.
Erika Arnold if they aren’t free how did they get it done in the first place ?? You can’t be mad at people for wanting to know certain things when they are exposed to difference
Ra Wo but certain things aren’t their’s to know. You aren’t going to walk up to some random person on the street and ask questions about their genitals.
Despite the willing hate and ignorance, shout out to the Breakfast Club for taking risks and breaking ground. We gotta start somewhere. If you're not for ALL black lives, you're not for black life. Period. A lot of you need to learn the difference between 'visibility' and 'agenda.' Every one does not have the same story and you need to get over it. I will say this to my trans brothers and sisters, be honest with your "T" when you have physical encounters. Every one deserves the right to know who they are getting involved with: gay, lesbian, straight, bi, trans, etc.
Much love to Janet! She is so courageous for coming on the show and being open/willing to be transparent for so many people that can not. I read her first book and can not wait to read the second.
Mlucious67 that was the stupidest rebuttal I’ve heard thus far. How does that prove that gender and sex are the same thing? Also, most jobs ask for your gender instead of your sex.
I'm not even going to read the comments because I know it's full of hatred, ignorance, and prejudice. So sad coming from the black community. Anyway, love Janet and the work she's doing for the trans community. #SpreadLove #EndHate ❤️❤️❤️
Most of the comments are pretty respectful. There are obviously some transphobes, because there will always be someone being hateful and discriminatory as long as a minority is being discussed, and even more when they aren't accepted as widely.
@@brightflamee okay but I'm not in the video, so we're not talking about me,. Everyone in the video was born the way they are (if you're talking about gender). If you're talking about literally anything else, people grow and change. Adults aren't babies because they were born that way. I don't understand why you think people don't change from the way they were born. Also, if you're talking about genetics, then mutations can happen and spread too. DNA isn't always the same as what presents on the outside. DNA can be different in different parts of the body. Are you the same as you were as a baby? I guess I'm trans-height since I decided to change my height. I was obviously not born this tall, so I should have remained baby height forever.
They were SO respectful to her. Mega kudos to them. She's so intelligent, articulate, and intellectual. While people here are trying to drag her, listen and educate yourself. I myself learned a lot from this interview.
This has been one of the best interviews I had the pleasure of watching. Thank you Breakfast Club for allowing Janet on your show to promote awareness and her book!
Such a great interview Janet. You touched base on so many different topics and handles the interview effortlessly. Such an inspiration for so many trans women of color .
Realmatic Schisms luckily for HER and all LGBTQ people, you are and will never be in a position of power to influence the masses with your bigotry. What's interesting is that homophobes/transphobes like you are labeled mentally ill by people who actually have knowledge on the subject of mental fitness. Janet is fine. SHE is being herself. Good luck with dealing with that in your life.
After watching Bernice Burgos and even Joseline's interview I can appreciate Janet Mock for actually standing for something. The women who are hating on her are more than likely jealous because she is a beautiful and intelligent trans woman who represents femininity better than most and they're just intimidated by her so the use the "but she used to be a boy" card to diminish her worth. Straight men or men (who are attracted to women) can not say that they wouldn't be sexually attracted to her if it was not for the fact that she used to be a boy. Janet embodies all the physical characteristics that men generally find attractive in women. So their real issue is not that they wouldn't want to get with her, its that admitting it or thinking it challenges their masculinity and everyone knows that's a man's greatest fear is to have his masculinity challenged. Therefore, that says more about them than it does about Janet!
@Last Action Hero to be heterophobic is foolish because without a mom and a dad none of us would be here. Its hard to buy into your comment when Janet Mock is an activist, Best-Selling author and a great representation for the black and transgender community. Neither of us have lived her life so you can't speak on her choices! You dont know what conversations she has had with god.
@ Last Action Hero Luckily that's just your opinion! Makes me wonder what and who you believe is a good example for the Black Community. Just because you don't agree with someone's choices doesn't make it wrong! We need to stop judging eachother! YOU ARE NOT GOD!!!
Rey S. that _don't judge me_ isn't Biblical, it's from a Tupac album. When you see your people going off, you're supposed to say something. Staying silent when you see your brother destroying himself is hatred. A man who throws away his manhood at a time when the Black community needs Black men to be men the most is not a hero or a good example.
@ Lena Adonis that's only necessary when you see something that is hurting/harming them in some way, but when someone is living their truth and are content with themselves and their lives, what is being destroyed? I understand doing what's right for the community which is why Janet Mock is on the Breakfast club to be a spokesperson and representative for other colored people like her!
Aww look at our LGBTQ family up on the breakfast club! This is exciting and inspiring. Perfect person to interview. She stays on her toes and keep our community on ours.
Thank you Breakfast Club for having Janet Mock. She is such a positive rolemodel and messenger. Knows exactly how to speak on this and educate us all. Thank you again.
I love Janet Mock and I applaud the Breakfast Club for an awesome interview. Mock is a powerful communicator. She is able to articulate issues related to the trans experience in a way that opens the door for greater understanding within the African American community. Few others have been able to do this. I know the work is sometimes personally frustrating for her, but it makes a huge difference. Kudos to Janet.
Why is everyone replying ignorantly to my post 😳 ... with. I avi picture ... however regardless Janet Mock is obviously a beautiful intelligent woman and she projecting positivity and fights for our black women rights both trans women CIs born women no one defends our African American so regardless of what you want to label her Ass being a black man I support anyone who stands up for my sister and my mother cause they are clearly at the bottom of rat race 🏁 so do your research on "her" before you judge and use ignorant terms so Janet I applaud you sister 🙌🏾👍🏿 #Makeemmad !
Yes, because your top degrees in psychological and medical sciences make you the best to judge her. Clearly, you don't know better than everyone else if you can't even form a full sentence to share your thoughts.
I sat & watched this interview without skipping but with Bernice’s interview, I was over it by the 3 minute mark. Love this interview. She is so well spoken & articulate, and she’s gorgeous, that’s a bonus.
Thank you Ms. Mock! You have made so many aspects of your life and journey clearer and garnered my respect and admiration. With this knowledge I feel I can be part of the change you have begun with your courage.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ this I swear this has got to be the only interview I actually sat @ watch in it's entirety. Big ups y'all. I soooooo love y'all right now. Janet baby U were captivating & well versed as always. Love U & Ur work. Thanx Breakfast club 😉😎
I love that you guys strive to be inclusive of all people from all walks of life. Having someone like this on your show shows how far we as a people are coming. Thank you!
As a Black gay brother I support Breakfast Club for having Janet Mock on. GENDER is social, SEX is biological. Janet is beautiful inside and out and I'm grateful she is enlightening our community. Let's let God do the judging and we can spread the love for one another. Stay Black yall
*Angy De La Rosa* Most biologists, anatomists, endocrinologists, psychologists worth their salt would disagree with you. Maybe in the politically correct liberal lala land that you're from chromosomes don't define gender. People like you deal in fanciful concepts like _gender performance_ which in the real world, barring psychological issues, is largely dictated by the chromosomes present in every cell of your body
I don't understand the amount of dislikes: this was an informative, enlightening and educational discussion. I suspect the negative voters didn't even watch the interview. They just saw the word "transgender" in the title then closed their minds.
W.Price Bruce isn't nothing but a cross dresser , nothing about him screams Trans to me. He literally have 0 femininity in him. He should have just stayed to trying on Kris's Met Gala dresser. 💁🏾
Very enlightening. Janet is a beautiful spirit. I didn't know what to expect, since BC has never had a segment like this, but they asked a lot of the right and honest questions. Bravo Breakfast Club 👏🏾🙌🏾
[fijiqueen ] hes in disbelief hes scoping her features trying to see a man in what looks so much like a woman....she could've fooled me if she didnt talk and smiled 24/7
I would love to see her speak somewhere- she is a very intelligent woman and so articulate (goes without saying). I think she does a great job of breaking things down in a way that people who are less familiar with the topic can still draw connections to it and gain a better understanding. This is a conversation worth sharing, especially amongst our community.
Janet is academically and emotionally intelligent with drive, integrity, and class...and for all her life battles hard won and hard lost, her mistakes and successes, she's trying to pay it forward from all the lessons she's learned: she really is black excellence personified.
This was by far THEE BEST THEE BEST interview I've ever heard on Transgender people...Janet Mock was very eloquently candid and did not hesitate to answer any and all questions. she made me want to hear her story understand her experience. one of the most important things ppl can do when advocating their story is have the proper mannerism. no one is receptive to anger, hate, ignorance and impatience. Janet was the total opposite of that and what we mostly see Transgender ppl being represented as. although this is my 1st time ever hearing of her, I can almost tell her mannerism on this show is also how she conducts herself thru out her life. I can respect her work and activism. I luv the fact that she is true to herself and Lives her truth. she also accepts responsibilty for her life and choices and ALLOWS ppl that she has been with intimately aware of her journey. I can now appreciate looking at Trans ppl from their perspective. she answered ALOT of questions for me. I may NEVER agree but at least now I understand the why and how and the differences. each one teach one....Thank you!!!
This interview was amazing, she is amazing, Janet is inspiring, just a go getter, Angela is a brilliant interviewer, Envy was so eloquently respectful and Charlemagne asked the questions I was even scared to think. It is a difficult topic to navigate respectfully and the Breakfast Club did a sterling job!
She conducted herself so well and answered those questions and gave her experience in an amazing way...while sitting through the male hosts and their ignorance...which is a societal issue that a lot of people should address and educate themselves on, but I love Janet Mock and her work with POSE and look forward to seeing her bring education about the Trans community to more.
The ignorance in the Black community is really sad and depressing, we can honestly be crabs in a barrel...traitors to our own cause. Women like Janet get up and fight for the ENTIRE black community in spite of knowing they don't have your general respect for them as a PERSON.
Mrs & Mrs Washington Exactly! It is sad and sickening that no matter how much good someone does in the world or even their neighborhood, if someone "finds out" they are gay or trans all of that is now discredited because tearing each other down is always more important than progression.
Janet Mock's interview was so insightful and pleasant to watch. She provided so many answers and put SO MUCH into perspective. My favorite part was 28:52 when she mentions legislation doesn't keep up with culture and the lives that people actually live.
Very intelligent. Very well spoken. I only have positive things to say about this beautiful woman. It's amazing that we now have someone as wonderful as her to use her knowledge and experience to speak on topics such as this one.
*Lena Adonis* Yo you are a TROLLLL. Lol you are REALLY commenting on all comments that are positive WEEKS later LMFAOOO why are you soooooooooo mad??? WHO hurt you?! NOW I gotta know!!
Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean it's not real. Therein lies fear of what is not understood. How whites fear blacks, how straight people fear gays and how gender identity being totally misunderstood - strikes fear in the hearts of men. I am open to learning about something I do not understand but I don't fear it. Some of these remarks are made out of pure fear because you don't understand it. Language evolves 'transgender' is merely a label. She is clearly educated. Gender identity is the issue.
*7Reload* I'm a werewolf who skin bleaches. I'm the first trans-racial werewolf. But I don't like other werewolves, I'd rather submit myself to vampires instead. They're more sexually appealing. But vampires of the same sex only. I don't submit to male vampires..... to oppressive and I don't want my strength challenged.
*Lena Adonis* You enjoy this too much to be considered any type of "normal". Even when your troll friends are giving up. Any corny joke you make don't take away from the fact that you aint changing ANYTHING by having no life and commenting on youtube. The US is more pro LGBT than anti LGBT than it was 20 years ago, and 20 years from now it'll be even more so. So you're literally wasting your time and showing how HURT you are.
