I just Google Translated my way through the game, the plot is very simplistic, as are the side quests. It's a pretty friendly game to go through. I only understand the damage calculations when I got near the end of the game. The damage numbers seen in the menu when buying moves is a multiplier rather than the damage amount. If the move says 110, it's your attack x 1.1 - enemy defense. I hear the max level is 127 but I stopped at 45. You gain a level every 9 floors in the waterfall dungeon, all the way to max.

A note for Crisis City: It's possible to play as the bosses! With the Extra mode unlocked (by code or legitimately), on character select, go to random sleect and hold L1 and press circle for R-Nimbus, or R1 and circle for Ashlay.

It's wild that it's as unknown as it is considering the quality of the package and people behind it. I think being a Japan Only RPG or RPG-adjacent game means you'll generally be ignored by the larger Enlish speaking world since theres an assumed language barrier involved, but it just goes to show how many interesting titles we could be sleeping on. Appreciate the kind words man, thanks for watching!

Popn Tanks has eerily similar vibe to Advance Wars. Which is very interesting when you consider that earlier Nintendo Wars game didn't have this tone (they were comical but they didn't really rely on cute and appealing characters like Advance does).

There has to be a team that makes a English Patch for Brightis (54:45). This game is very worth it! 🤩 Only problem is the main character could have more variety or depth. He starts the way it ends, without changing armor, clothing or any aesthetics customization. This is the type of game where the main Skin of the game would be replaced by Link, Goblinslayer, 2B, etc. It would only increase the desire to play and replay it. 🤣

I like this channel a lot because I learn about a lot of games I've ACTUALLY never heard of, even though the PS1 is my favorite console. Other channels are like "This N64 game you've never heard of: Mischief Makers!" and I'm like "Alright..."

To be fair the N64 has a real shallow library, but yeah, because of this series I have found so many games I actually haven't heard anybody talk about before.
@JetWolfEX
@JetWolfEX 5 месяцев назад
I think they do that on purpose, if a video is talking about a game that truly no one has heard of they are less likely to watch it, most retro gaming channels rely on well-liked games and nostalgia to get clicks, and they get a lot of extra comment engagement from people saying that it's not that obscure. Having the games selected and not revealed in the title or preview is how channels (like this one) should do it, you get peoples' curiosity and more engagement, it just makes the whole video more interesting.

You highlight something I really like about games from this era: the length of play segments. A lot of modern AAA games will demand you play for multiple hours in one sitting before you've felt like you've made enough progress to be satisfied. Now, these games are loaded with detailed graphics, fully voiced dialogue, elaborate cutscenes, and endless open worlds to explore -- they're technological marvels, without a doubt. But I can't tell you how many times I've gone back to an old PS1 or N64 game, played for a bit, put it down at a reasonable stopping point, and then been surprised to find that only about 40 minutes to an hour had passed. It's like the perfect amount of time. A game with a well-paced story or tight level progression can make it feel like quite a lot has happened in a short span of time, and that sort of trickery will always be more impressive to me than any advances in graphics hardware. In case it's not obvious, I played FF7 Rebirth recently. Boy did that game make me contemplate the importance of brevity.

For whatever reason I happened on your videos while looking for things to listen to/watch while sorting/entering MtG cards into my collection and, after being shocked at some of the things I'd just never heard of, I started using your videos as what I'd always have on while doing this. Today I finally hit the end of what you've currently uploaded, which is sad but I wanted to let you know how much I appreciated these very interesting dives into the PS1 library that I, as a Nintendo kid, have very little familiarity with even past the obscure ones. While I suppose for now I'll have to find something else for what I'm currently sorting, I look forward to your output in the future and I'll certainly be tuning in to each new vid that comes out c:

I come from Gunt-a-mania, but I stay for Mr. Seanson's excellent work 😀 Seriously, the videos are always entertaining, but the amount of legwork and research done here is always top-notch. Like top 1% of RU-vidrs care to look into actual information when talking about games, it must be. I mean, _it makes me sad_ to now know that the remnants of Quintet are now working on terrible budget anime schoolgirl action games with costume break features instead of cool RPGs, but *knowing* that now is cool! Love this series. Congrats to all the winners who got their games covered this ep!

Ah, so happy to see another Japan Only PS1 Games! Game #1: For some reason this was my favourite one, probably because of how fun it looks (even if the AI is simply stupid/stupidly simple). Colorful, quirky, fun. Game #2: Speaking of quirky fun, this one would also be some nice, rather arcade-like, frantic action. Gives me Cannon Spike vibes and that is a good thing. Game #3: As someone who loves fighting games, I probably could find some enjoyment out of it. Can't be worse than the DOS fighting game "Battling Butlers" anyways. Since it is set in a highschool and they are teenagers and thus underage, I'm not a fan of the boob jiggling though. (Just writing this makes me worried to be on some list) Game #4: Yeah, I had a feeling you would say a lot about this game, considering how many screenshots you posted on Twitter. 😅 But the game looks really fun and I love the enemies, especially the fat fishmen. Okay, since it is me who is commenting, you know what time it is, right? That's right! It is kitty spotting time! 0:18 Okay, not sure if that counts but I'll add it in anyways. 3:56 Luna and Honey (Honey kinda hiding) 53:54 Honey 1:33:10 Luna Hope I got them all! Anyways, thank you so much for yet another fantastic and funny video! Can't wait for your next one!

Great video, man you really made me want to try Brightis, the kind of game I love discovering. - Pop'n Tanks: seems a really cool battle tank game, gameplay looks interesting but the repetitiveness affects the game. Just by watching first minutes of footage I knew it's kind of repeptitive, but this is a fairly common fault in PS1 games. Love the visuals, by the way. - Crisis City: This game looks completely crazy, I like this kind of nervous and arcade gameplay, if on top of that it's this crazy, I definitely want to try it yes! - Battle Arena Nitoshinden: I don't like fighting game, even less Batlle Toshinden saga, not interested at all - Brightis: my God this game looks insane, the atmosphere, the universe, the dark atmosphere, the music... you reflected well all of this in your video, this looks top notch Playstation 1 era adventure game ! Thanks a lot for your work, always discovering new things with your videos, see you in the next one, take care !
