Japanese Dude Puts Lace Keepers on Red Wing Iron Ranger 8111

I really love the look of the American flag on the iron rangers. I think flags usually look tacky on clothes but they look down right fierce on the boots. Probably gonna pick up some for my boots.

Put the flag on if you like it. I don't have those on my boots. I ride a Harley, and I don't want that catching on my shifter peg.

I personally like the flag on the laces, makes them pop more. I used to use the original boot laces on my red wings, but after a few years I wore them out. Switched to leather laces and I've been using them since.

I think they look good. I would add that I think they’re more commonly worn on the moc toes.

Do what you feel is right! We have plenty of shirts with flags on the sleeve, flag patterns, flag badges, etc. I'd rock these if I knew about them. Most people wear redwings for work, so looks are not a priority. But yes, it can be cheesy/corny if you rock too many patriotic stuff except on Memorial Day or something. But whatever do whatever you want, and don't mind others too much.

If you like it, then it's cool! I understand the culture in Japan is different though. Great boots - they last a long time and get more and more comfortable.

You live in Chicago, the boots are American made and you like well made American products. You do you and show the flag if you like. I would not where it because i live in Canada but i do like how it looks.

I have these same flags on my Iron Rangers, so you're not the only one. They came in the box. I've seen these with the Canadian flag as well.

Those look spiffy as hell on you man! With the lace keepers. Obviously it's a matter of personal preference. Wear whatever YOU like as long as you wear it with confidence. As an example look no further than your fellow countrymen and how they wear that tech/ baggy style. With confidence, so they make it look good. The flag is cool, no doubt about it. However for some people, including myself, it adds that little bit of unwanted color (and I know it's a bit of a stretch but even a slight bling) that might stand out in a certain way from the rest of the outfit. I live close to Lincoln Square and funny enough today I went to the red wing store to try on a pair of 875s. The reason why I'M not considering Thorogood is the flag tab on the side and their company stamp towards the heel. It's just not my thing. But plenty of people like to have an item on them sometime that stand out a bit, myself included. I sort of look at those lace keepers like a watch strap. You could wear your black/ brown/ gray etc or from time to time you can put that colorful one on. It's good that they're removable. In the end, you do you dude.

We do it in Virginia. We put them on our work boots. Some of my friends do not as we are electricians and they don't want to put any metal n their feet.

No it’s common with blue collar workers. You see iron workers and carpenters sometimes with them. Or at least I do in my area.

I'm Thai and I wear Iron Ranger with US flag lace keepers everyday. If you bought an American product then you should be proud to wear the US flags with your boots. There's nothing to be ashamed of.

I'm very patriotic, but I just think this looks silly. It reminds me of jibbetz for crocs. A pair of Chippewas I bought came with something like this, and I took them off immediately. These are classic, timeless boots, and to me, this just makes them less so.

I liked your video. I've learned that they are called Deubré's. Deubré is a generic term, originating at Nike, Inc. and dating from the mid 1990s, for an ornamental shoelace tag, most commonly seen on sneakers. I'm pretty sure that because they are a somewhat "new" thing that are commonly seen on sneakers, the trend just hasn't quite moved onto boots. Anyways, I think they look really dope. I like your outfit and it fits you really well. Keep rockin what you love man.

Well, the way I see it, these deubré are more like part of the Americana fashion, wich I guess is part of your aesthetic preferences wich is completely a valid point. Personally I don't know if I would use it, mainly because I don't live in USA. Now, I've seen before in other RU-vid videos people using the deubré in their Red wings... I think in 2 or 3 videos but the people in them weren't part of the main boot tube, they were more normal people talking about they everyday experience using their boots. Thank you for the video. PS. I have seen people have the flag on their work boots but for fashion boots many Americans tend to avoid flare because they want the boot to be the statement and not have the flare be the statement piece. I think the flag looks great on your boots.

I own a pair of Iron Rangers and I don't wear the flag lace keepers, but I never thought about it being " too Patriotic". However, in my own opinion you should do whatever you feel comfortable. I don't think it's a big deal either way and don't feel uncomfortable about it.

I also like the flag, but I'm a patriotic kinda guy! I have many shirts, hats with flags and have several of them around the house! There are groups in America that are ashamed of the flag too, but I'm far from that group. 🇺🇲

They add a bit too much color/noise to me. I also don't know if it would age as well as leather does.

Immigrants usually wear the flag of their home country, or even fly that flag. I see several Mexico flags everywhere I go here in the Chicago suburbs. An immigrant showing pride to live in the United States is unique and gives you some flair. I say wear it if you like it!

I wear those flags on my Red Wingd. I've heard Americans are the only people that proudly wear their flag on their clothing. I wear both American and Japanese flags. Alot of people especially Mexicans think I'm Mexican. I can just point to the flags

Also, I’ve been to several Red Wing stores in the surrounding Chicago suburbs and have not seen these deubré available. So it may be something that makes it “limited edition” which might be worth something to overseas collectors… idk

I'd keep the flag on the laces. I'm Filipino who's been living in Chicago for a while, and I want to get a USA pin for my Barbour waxed jacket. It's interesting that Japanese people can't show their nation's pride in public. Japan is such a different country now compared back to WWII. Many westerners visit Japan b/c they admire Japan's culture, food, & etc. Japanese shouldn't be ashamed to show their flag these days. Maybe keep USA on one lace and the other lace w/ Japanese flag?
