People commented I paid less, so I came back and gave him extra 50MAD (US$4.90) now👍 He knew that I didn’t know the proper price, so he didn’t say anything to me at that time. But to be fair with his great job, I decided to pay him extra.
That was very nice of you. He did the complete service with shampoo and even hairdryer so he deserved some extra! Here in the US you pay at least $10 for a simple cut alone.
Yes I said to my self what ! 20 Dirham it’s not the price of the water and electricity of he use for your haircut, it’s good thinks you go back to him more he deserve , but btw he must to put the price like another salon. I hate people don’t put the price and after complaining. So salon guy’s put the price and be happy
@@L__M-bb2zv Fez, Marrakech is a must, both cities are the heart of Morocco, more than 1000 years of history. Chefchaouen, Tangier, north of Morocco is beatufifull... In one word, Morocco is a magic and wonderfull country.
@@yousseflaaguid660 oh yes I agree, Marrakech Chefchaouen Tangier Fez Agadir the Sahara desert 🏜 especially at night, im very excited to see these beautiful places myself and thank you 😊
There is a place called Seven Men in Marrakech, right at Bab Doukkala That's what this woman wanted to say 7:38"Seven men are seven of the jurists, judges and Sufis whose shrines are located in the city of Marrakech, they are Youssef bin Ali Al-Sunhaji, Judge Ayyad, Abu Al-Qasim Al-Suhaili, Abu Al-Abbas Al-Sabti, Muhammad bin Suleiman Al-Jazouli, Sidi Abdel-Aziz Al-Tabbaa, Sidi Abdullah Al-Ghazwani"
Even if there club are down to 2 division 😢 they always cheers the club everywhere 😊 the people of Marrakech are known by their joy and sense of humour and I like their accent 😂 enjoy your trip and welcome to Morocco from Agadir 🇲🇦 you're a very nice guy 🇯🇵
Hola George! 👋...you look great!. By the way, I love how friendly you are with all the people, but I'm still pleasantly surprised by how friendly people are in Morocco, that's great!. Keep enjoying your trip!, saludos!
The price of a haircut in small towns without washing the hair is 10 dirhams, but in Marrakech for regular barbershops I think it is 20 dirhams... but for modern barbershops the price is more... The problem with barbers is that they do not comment on the prices of haircuts and beards because there are people who pay them More than the real price.
Why don't barbers put the price of haircuts in a clear plate for customers? Because they simply covet the people who give them more than the original price, and if they set the price, no one will give them more than it.
@@DamassiTV i agree with you, that's how it goes in a lot of moderated countries, or even some highclass places in morocco, but since he's going to a barbershop in a let's say normal neighborhood, you know that's how it goes, no barbershop is displaying prices in the frontdooe. The hairdresser could have charged him 150dh, and he should pay it because he didn't ask for the price before getting the haircut, i would expect that question from someone like him who travels a lot. Tbh 20dh is kind of an insult after the haircut and the hairshower, he tought he is getting a haircut in the street of bangladesh.
I like your vlogs in Morocco. You visited popular neighborhoods and it's a good way to get closer to the population and here culture. Thank you and welcome in morocco 🇲🇦
9:30 The name of this Tacos is the French tacos, a dish made with a wheat patty and where you can choose your meats according to the one you take (1 meat, 2 meats…) with cheese sauce on top of the meats, the concept arrived in Morocco a few years ago with these differences of course (example: in Morocco you can find a seafood tacos but certainly not in France).
Welcome george in morocco. Enjoy your time. Eat well and everything in morocco 🇲🇦 I visited your country as well your people very nice and very welcoming
enjoy your seven days in marrakech ..you're gonna be amazed by the food there .and it's my turn to tell you welcome george in morocco....don't miss a trip to the city of ESSAOUIRA another taste of the country
Something that barbers appreciate in Morocco, is when you give them a little more than what they ask for as a payment, especially if you like your haircut. It's not mandatory, but that's what a moroccan do in order to make the barber remember him, He'll do his best to satisfy you evertime you pay him a visit.
Amazing the haircute with fire !! In Belgium, in my city there are a barbershop who cut hair with axes 😂😂😂 The chicken tacos look so good 🤤🤤🤤. Thanks for the video !!!
When u are in Fes u must try the Sushi there from the Shop named iki its from a Japanese Guy who lives in Morocco and makes authentic sushi really hope you will like it but u have to make a reservation
People commented I paid less even tho I made sure the price with other barbers, and it should’ve been 50MAD(US$4.90) or so! I actually tried Pastilla today, and the video is coming tomorrow 👍
@@GeorgeJapan oh no! it happens some times when you are in another country. When I moved back to the USA from a different country after a long time away, I forgot to tip in certain circumstances and was told off LOL! I look forward to the Pastilla video!
@@GeorgeJapan No you didn't pay less , that's the local price in these traditional neighborhoods , (i pay 10 for beard and 10 for haircut and 10 for wash )
@George Japan, The Barber told you as you like so you can be generous! The type of service that he provides to you deserves a lot more than $2. Enjoy your stay!!
I saw people criticizing the amount of money that you spent at the barber shop. But, to be fair it's tough to know the right amount of money to pay if you don't live there. I certainly wouldn't know how much to pay. I still think you were very brave to cut your hair in different countries. 😬 looks nice 😁
Yesterday I decided to go back and gave him extra 50MAD after seeing those comments! Yeah it’s hard to know the proper price, but now I know hahaha Thank you 😊
Boy, the hairdresser was really quick! He did a good job. I wonder what a Mexican person will think of that taco (that was more like a burrito) with fries in it. They might feel similarly to how you must have felt when you learned about Brazilian strawberry sushi 😂. Thanks for the video, as always!
@@m.jsouza2782 ok, now I have to rewatch, I don’t remember how the back was - one sec. OK, I don’t see it - the shots of the back are kinda quick, but it looked normal to me. From the front it looks fine, though.
@@m.jsouza2782 I’m pretty sure that that’s the cut, he left it t all even - George asked for Morocco style, that might be the style! I see a lot of arabic/middle eastern people where I live with haircuts like that, not short on the back.
Konnichwa Georgie Boyo World Travellor sensei!!! I am constantly AMAZED at how laid back and brave you are. You have taught me not to fear these famous African places. You have shown how friendly and sweet everyone is, even groups of youths, that would have scared me But then, Japan has been pacifist for seven decades... Aussies have not... following USA into Iraq and Afghanistan was wrong. I guess no one in North Africa or the Middle East would welcome me now...😢😞 PS After your haircut you look like a SUPER MODEL!

Hi george, you’ve been in my hood hhhh the children those asked you to say “dima kokab” they trying to make you support the local football club named kACM , the women with the yellow hair she a little bit crazy , she’s name is Malika , in the Barber shop a super kind people because the regular price is 30 MAD minimum but like you see , it’s not a deal 😊 , the name of this hood is Ain Itti , hope you have a good experience in morocco and spicaly in Ain Itti , happy to have you in our area ❤😊
im moroccan, and in morocco we consider marrakesh like you japanese consider osaka (both cities with extroverted people compared to the rest of the country). If you go to other cities in morocco instead of marrakesh (casa, rabat, etc...), you'll find people that are more "cold" than tokyo 😂
they light the thing up with fire for your safety and for efficiency 1) safety: someone might have a dangerous bacteria or paracite in there hair and so they use alcohol in it to light it with fire to eleminate it 2) efficiency: makes the knife sharper(cuts faster)
Come on George you only paid him 2 bucks for a great cut that was fast (time-saving!) and he even washed + dried + styled your hair for you? Please go back tomorrow and give him a tip!!
Oh I learned something - I am FAR too introverted for Morocco or at least a street market in Marrakesh. Cool hair. Olives as raisens, lol Then again, Olives don't really grow in Japan, wrong climate - historically I think it was one island.
hahaha, the vlog was so good, I am Moroccan and I like Japanese people and culture, you are welcome anytime. Please come to Meknes city it is like Marrakech!!!
"A lil bit agressive" Yes indeed it's manly gestures but it's fine 💪 I like your trip, first time on your chanel and I like the state of mind and gonna see more Thank you for sharing that👍
Thank you! I wanted to pay the proper price, so I asked other barbers, then they said 20, so I paid 20. But I’ll definitely pay more next time. Thank you for your comment!
@@GeorgeJapan No problem.....2 $ is the minimum without washing the hair......3 $ is ok but u can pay a little more if u f satisied......Welcome in Morocco
@@GeorgeJapan I kind of wonder if it’s supposed to go like: the barbers say 20MAD, you give, like, 40MAD and _then_ you see how much, if any, the barber gives you back. (In other words, it’s one of those cultural things where the barbers won’t “insist” on a high price, especially if (1) you’re a non-Moroccan and (2) you’re filming for RU-vid, like it’s a “hospitality thing.”) Of course no one can fault you for trying to do the right thing, asking, and then paying whatever they say.
@@jeff__w its like the men who washes you in a traditional moroccan hamam (kssal) you can give him 20 dh or you can give him 200dh, it's up to you. It's more of a cultural thing. But 50 dh for such jobs is the minimum imo. After all in Morocco nobody will leave you without a haircut/food etc
I think it’s a cultural difference. Japanese people are honest and straightforward, the barber asked for 20 Dirhams that is what he got, on the other hand as a Moroccan when we have an average Moroccan customer we tell them the normal price but if the customer is a foreigner or a Moroccan that looks wealthy we say “ it is up to you or as you like” because we understand that those people are more likely to be very generous and the odds are that we will receive a lot more than the actual price. Neither one is wrong it is just different ways of doing business.
A tip for anyone wanting to visit, get to know someone morrocan and take them as company with you,

Hey George, it's funny to say that but just for information, he took from you 20 MAD = 2 USD, and all moroccan barbers work with 35 MAD = 3.5 USD, that's so humble from him, welcome brother! JAPAN for us is love! we know about you everything!
You have to go to the city of Nador. I used to live there, but I am currently in Spain. I miss my city so much. What do you think you should go to? You will like it very much.
The price of getting a haircut in Morocco starts from 20 MAD (Without hair washing), It is not your fault that he didn't tell you the price, for me you shouldn't have came back and give him the extra 5 bucks coz his intention for not setting a price was to hopefully give him more than he would tell you and this is because he knows that the price of getting a haircut in your country is much higher than it is in Morocco. But I was surprised that he accepted the 20 MAD.
The barber thought all tourists are the same. Japanese are different, they're not stingy with money just thrifty (big difference), I have a very nice Japanese friend, she is always careful with her spendings. Anyway, salute to the barber for not asking for a higher price & to you for going back & paying what he deserves.
Man you could give him at least 50 MAD . It's not like Casablanca or Rabat . Marrakech is an expensive city . Anyway, it's just an observation and the price still ok . Welcome to Morocco George ❤️☺️
I had a haircut in Marrakech in 2023 inside the medina in a small run down barber shop (far below the luxury of the barber shop in this video). The barber asked for 150MAD for a simple men's haircut without wash or shave. I negotiated 100MAD which is about what I'd pay at home in the West and roughly what I'd pay in Asia from a high end salon. A local told me off for negotiating but I felt 150MAD is a rip off and far above the local price. Who was correct? Did I do the wrong thing by negotiating? The haircut itself was pretty good.
