At Knitwear, we've always been big fans of Japanese knives, and while we love locally made blades, they haven't quite fit with our lineup. That all changed when we met young Alberta knife maker Kensea Aaron! Kensea is a self-taught blacksmith forging some incredible Japanese-style blades in Canada. This summer, we brought master blacksmith Masashi Yamamoto down to meet him and share a few of his trade secrets!

I've been looking forward to this video. That's awesome masashi offered him a year apprenticeship. If I were him I would definitely take him up on that as soon as he graduates school.

He got a scholarship to play volleyball in university, so he's focusing on that right now, but we're hoping he'll return to knife making after university!
