I can explain a heating mechanism of the bento boxes. Slaked limes and a water pack is built-in. Once the string is pulled, a pack is broken and water is poured to the slaked limes. Finally, it makes the box heat.
It’s kind of satisfying to see the whole box heat up with only a single pull from a string. Now if only there is a way to do so multiple times without throwing it away. In case you ever pack cold leftovers if microwave is not an accessible thing while outside
you can buy the water activated heating pouches seperately, i'm sure you could find a washable reusable bento box that is meant for use with said heat pouches.
@@straightpipediesel those kind of reusable heat packs just don't put out enough BTU of heat to reheat food in 6-15 mins, the water activated ones are far more exothermic. The ones found in these self heating bento's and the hotpots dancingbacons has featured previously are calcium based and don't output flammable gases unlike the metallic based ones found in MRE's and other self heating military rations that liberate hydrogen gas!
One thing I’ve noticed .. Japanese packaging actually tears open when a person wants to tear it. That never seems to happen with packaging here in the US 😵💫
Due to the aging population alot of their product designs take into consideration availability to an elderly person or people with certain weaknesses. Good rule of thumb when it comes to Japanese products is that if you have to use a lot of force, you're probably doing it wrong or didn't read the instructions properly.
@@zelosmiman5533 you can find them at asian stores in America , they are just very expensive. i see similar items all the time but being broke and in college i pass them up
I wish we had self-heating foods in America! We have such a busy lifestyle, and even students could benefit from a nice hot meal in school! I hope it comes to the US sometime soon!
how old are you sweetheart? these have existed since before you were born. They are stand issue for US military MREs and most civilian MREs also contain them.
I'm probably a bit jaded, but there's a reason we don't. Knowing us, it wouldn't be long before someone burned themselves on the heating element and sued the company. Probably the same reason why we don't have any "instant" foods that come with a flameless heater like in our military rations.
i mean you can find it in some 99 ranch store but those self heat pack come at a cost. Instead equip microwaves in cafeteria area will be a more realistic solution
The Shinkansen trains employ advanced stabilizers and the resulting ride is very smooth. In fact, it is possible to balance a coin on its edge on top the interior window sill while the train is moving. I tried that myself during on of my trips riding the Shinkansen and it proved to be true.
These would be really nice to buy at the airport to heat on a plane cuz its got to be better than the cheap half sandwich and tiny thing of Pringle they sell for $15 on the plane now half the time the ham is green and the bread stale
I was glad to see you opened up the last heating pack to show it off. I was wondering what they looked like. I have to assume that the string was only to rip the water packet open to start the system working. Though I may live in Florida USA I have traveled around the world and really enjoy watching the both of you at work. The most exciting thing to me is to go to any Japan town (San Francisco's is the one I love the best) and find the smallest restaurant and enjoy a bento box there. Sure you can go to a large location for tourist, but, I find the little mom and pop locations where the locals go to eat are always the best. There is just love in the food and it shows
I'm glad the Bento Boxes were Tasty, but the Heat Pack PAT is Not the Same as the SMaCK! Also, I'll admit that pulling a String to Heat Food is Pretty Cool
It's very convenient to have a self heating food product. Eating various food became more fun and yummy. Wish we can also have them here and I can review it at my channel 😁
In America someone would burn themselves like an idiot then sue then noone in America would ever have self heating bento boxes again😢 I'm surprised that the military trusts us enough to give us MRE heaters
watching your videos makes me want those bento boxes so bad! even the token veggies look good lol although a little sad as you delicately lift them up.
It's funny that I felt like I needed to watch a video on how to use a self-heating bento, when literally all you do is pull a string! I was expecting it to be like an American MRE or something lol
1 slice of carrot & 2 green beans is not enough! 😂 Should treble them. Those meals do look lovely though. Wish you could get those meals here in our food stores in England. Would love to try them. 😋Yummy! 🍱🥡
Now that's a neat idea, a self heating bento...I should see about getting me one of those next time I go to Japan and take my train from the airport to the hotel. Where can you get those at train terminals?
