Japanese stationary is just on a completely different level. Thank you for sharing Martina! Running over to king kogi to watch the rest of the reviews and I hope I can find some of my favorites on Amazon.
@@eatyourkimchi i like quality because my Japanese mechanical pencils last years and perform like new while my American ones break a lot easier and good notebooks are also super expensive here in the US 😔
Head on over to King Kogi RU-vid for the full Stationery review! Hope it brings you a chuckle ✨ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sMrpCYXwtoQ.html
Heads up: never write tests/exams/assignments in friction erasable pen. I had a whole exam disappear once in highschool because the teacher had left them on the dashboard in her car, and the heat erased it. But apparently you can make it reappear by putting the paper in the freezer, so if your writing disappears, maybe try that.
Was about to say the same thing. A proffessor from University told me he had the same thing happen when he took a bunch of exams home to grade in summer he had 4 exams go blank which was hy he started researching and then put them in the freezer. But I am very sure that a lot of professors would not have gone through that process.
The freezer works! Lol! I literally just commented that this happed to my sons exam papers!! The teacher put them beside a radiator!! Had to put them in the freezer!!
@@katyb2793 she actually had her daughter copy over the indentations left in the paper from what I’d written! Really went above and beyond. If only she’d known about the freezer trick!
Because frixtions lose thier color by being heated, sometimes it says "don't write the envelopes with an erasable pen" in Japan. If you want to have more fun with that pen, I recommend you using a hair dryer to erase everything you wrote.
A lot of us in med school used Frixion pens to write our paperwork, unfortunately we were told to stop using it since the inks would disappear after awhile..😆
Friction pens are great right up until your work half erases itself in your bag because it doesn’t discriminate the type of friction 😂. Speaking from experience. Lost half my notes from first year uni 😭
What I love about these adjustable notebooks is the ability to add and remove paper with ease and without tearing them. As for their covers, I see an opportunity to get some pretty scrapbook paper and use Mod Podge or white glue to adhere that paper to the covers. It would be easy to remove the original cover and use it to trace the form onto the paper and cut the shape out. The decorative possibilities ... Of course, I'd recommend not using just the paper as it would need the original cover adhered to it for structural strength.
I have a Rocketbook notebook that uses those frixion pens. You can use an app and upload whatever you've written in the notebook to a PDF document. So amazing for taking notes, recipes to email to friends and family. And they wipe off the notebook with water. I love it.
i looooved Frixion pens and used them all the time UNTIL - once i left a notebook in my car in summer for a long time, and when i opened it again all my notes had faded O_O The *heat* from friction is what erases the ink so leaving it in the hot car was not a good idea. I believe its also not meant to be photocopied for that reason, idk. I totally share your love of japanese stationery
I love these types of videos. Honestly I just love all Martina videos. You’re such a special person. You make your videos so entirely you and that means they’re fun, creative, funny and clever.
Finally! Japanese stationary is elite. My obsession began years ago when I discovered Midori travelers notebooks, then I became obsessed with their custom multi pens.
One problem with those Frixion pens is they can also be affected by heat. I put a hot dinner plate on one of my notebooks and noticed the next day a few of the pages had been erased in the middle in a circle lol
Oh yes, there is even a case where someone left their notebook in their hot car and the writing disappeared. I live in a hot climate so it’s a no for me, but it’s fun to play with!
So for years my go to doodle when I'm bored has been a tree with grass kinda like yours, but you drew your sun behind the tree and it's gorgeous and I've never even thought about drawing the sun behind the tree instead of in the sky. My mind has been blown!
The frixion pen can also be erased with a hair dryer - say you highlight your musical score, or your part in a play, with a borrowed score - donor with Frixion, erase with hairdryer and turn back in.
The erasable pens! My dad had some old pens (I think paper mate) where the eraser on the cap of the pen was a regular eraser and they were terrible!! it mainly just ripped the paper, always wondered why nobody had improved on that. So exciting to see ones that actually work
Hi Martina! Hope you’re well! I remember watching first time some decade and change ago because I love KPop and now I stay wanting to explore the Japanese culture as my too bucket list item! Love you Martina
Omg my first experience with japanese stationary was with a set of Gelly Roll glitter pens! ✨ Uuughhh my diary was filled with elementary school drama, love letters to my crush 😏 AND it was also very sparkly. Loving your content Martina 💖 i will also be going over to king kogi to watch the rest!
I love stationary ! 💜💜💜 thanks for sharing ! Love you guys so much. So happy you're still posting. My RU-vid world wouldn't be the same without you guys ! I've been following for so long haha take care, stay hydrated, take your vitamins :)
Ok, I’m just going to say it. Martina is basically carrying this channel at this point. Partial shade to Simon. I just relate more to the content she is producing. It’s fun and colorful, which draws from the previous content on this channel. And you can clearly see an elevation in her work. ✨🌸💅🏼🌈 Simon’s Book Club is very niché and it’s a stark contrast to what this channel previously produced. He unfortunately does not narrate/explain the books he is reading well. It feels like he expects you to already know what he’s talking about and follow his train of thought. Now, I’ll admit that I do not fully listen to his content because while the books may be interesting, I’m bored out of my mind listening to Simon’s portrayal of it. His monotone of voice just ironically screams boredom. Like I’ve mentally checked out within 5 seconds. And there is no engagement allowed on the audience’s part besides liking, disliking and subscribing. Seems pretty one-sided. Anyone else feel that way? 😪😪😪 I know he’s done it as a measure to protect himself from as much negativity as possible, which is fine and completely his choice to make. But it’s not the same.
It’s totally fine to connect to one person’s characteristics over the other. But saying that, we don’t have to go bagging on the other. I’d say, keep negatives thoughts to yourself. Better yet, just let them go~~
Book clubs do require that you read the book in question for discussion, but it does help to also have the discussions do overviews and summaries regardless.
I bought Frixion pens in the states but when I went to Japan I discovered Frixion highlighters! I got a whole set and used the Frixion highlighters in my textbooks because they gave me the confidence that I wasn't going to ruin them forever since they're erasable.😂😂
I looked at that Friction Pen the way my cat looks at hair ties, like it is something I must have at all costs. I'm running to my local Japanese stationary store (I'm lucky I live in an area in soCal that has that) and see if they carry them here. Yay!
I used frixion pen to write notes on an A3 paper and ran it through a photocopy machine on the back page. The heat completely erased the what I wrote. Just be careful. Official documents don't allow you to use frixion pens either.
@@TemperedStorm they need to be careful about fineliners actually. Some of my uni notes have faded to yellow.. Now I always use archive quality for anything I want to keep! Didn't know Gel pens were a problem though :S
@@katyb2793 Neither did I, but I had been handed back referenced documents with the gel ink on it and was told to redo the documents and complete them with a non-gel ink pen. Bureaucracy. 😐
Haven't even started watching yet, but I know I'll wholeheartedly agree. I am a big fan of Japanese stationery and the poor online store I go to has an order from me every once or twice a week. Update 1: I'm almost certain "Campus" is the Kokuyo brand (fellow nerds correct me, please)
When I was living in Japan one of my favorite things was going to the stationary store near the elementary school as I was working in. I still have the cutest animal stamps that I bought from there.
that was a thing i loved on my japan trip years ago all that amazing stationary stuff btw the frixion pens are not really erased. it's from the heat of rubbing it. you can also use an iron to do it. also it comes back in the cold
Frixon used to be pretty popular 10-12 years ago here in Germany. Everyone (!!!!) was buying these. I myself still have a ereasable ink pen from them and also a highlighter by Pilot since this brand is literally everywhere. Sometimes there will also be deals where you can get stickers from their website that you can put on the pens to customise them. A youtuber I follow did such a colab one, she is a fashion designer here in Germany and used one of her paterns for her fashion for the stickers, but I sadly owned a pen allready cause the offer was only for people who bought the pen (you had to upload a pic of the bill/receipt) from the day you bought it cause only a certain date was able to get the stickers...
Martina if you made an ASMR video I would probably be able to die because I would truly be happy so can you please make an ASMR video just once it could be like 5 minutes, I'll just put it on repeat and then pass out because why not. Also I'm kind of obsessed with stationary and I thought it was just me and I was just a weirdo and now I feel so much better knowing that I am not alone and it's pretty awesome lol.
Fun!🌸😊🌸 🌸 A friend used friction -erase pens to take notes, then left the notebook in her car. Half the page of notes, where the sun hit the paper - vanished 😅😅
Loooooove Japanese stationary!! 💖💖💖💖 I discovered erasable highlighters by.Pentel last year at work. I swiped the last pack!! 🤘 I was in the Niagara region at the time. Soooo cool!!
I just wanna say that the frixon pens are actually heat activated, not friction! You’re warming up the page with the rubbing! I would use these for class, and it came with a warning that it might fade if it gets too hot
Japanese stationery is amazing! I only wish I was able to find it while I was still in primary school/high school or when I did my first degree in person (I'm doing my current degree online). Love your washi tape stickers! Have a lovely day :)
I miss your videos. RU-vid without you Martina , is not the same like the old goods days . I have been following you all from the very first video. Please keep it up with the great work and content creating.
The washi tape is soooo cute and soooo dangerous because I cannot stop buying it. I've never tried the one with the individual stickers because I was worried about how it would work but they look great it the video so I think I should get some for myself!
This video was created for me because this is my jam! I spent hours on the stationary store in Kyoto. I love friction pens, love refillable packets of paper, And now I've moved on to the electronic version with the Samsung Note and it's literally the same thing. I downloaded the stationary note packs and made my phone notes rilakkuma. It's so freaking cute!
Of all the things I want to do if I ever had the privilege of going to Japan I daiso and all the stationary stores! I have an unhealthy love for stationary and art supplies
First thing I watched as soon as I got home!!! I love Japanese stationary ❤︎(๑ᴖ◡ᴖ๑)❤︎ sometimes I wish we had this in the states lol thank you so much for sharing this Martina I hope I could find some of this online ♡
In Australia the Frixions pens are banned at exam time because some people did all of their highschool final exams (which also determine which universities we can enter) in Frixions pens and one of the exam marker left the exams in their car on a hot day and the heat literally erased all of the ink on all of the students' exams and they couldn't get into uni 💀 💀 💀 💀
Martina I loved, loved, loooooooved this vid! I love Japanese stationery, I was wondering what your thoughts would be of them, there's so many awesome options. I'm mainly watching your King Kogi vids, but I'm totally supporting you here too! I'd loved if you did any more future Japanese stationary vids if you find more treasures that you find fascinating! I get them through online stores so if you recommend or discover something awesome, I'm totally getting them too!
Yup, I use the highlighters when I do cross stitch on the pattern and when I am done I hit it with a hair dryer and it is good to go again if I want :)
I didn't know this! Or do you know of a store where you could look around all day and never get bored? It is a fun store for DIY enthusiasts. It also works well as a gift for friends and acquaintances. I recommend the Shibuya store because it has many parts and is well-stocked. It is almost like a toy store that adults can also enjoy. It's famous, you may have already been to this store... how many years do you think I've lived in Tokyo? If you think so, that's good enough for me.
Hey Martina! Thanks for the free month of Skill Share 😘 Will put it to good use and maybe help me get back into some art/drawing/painting/creativity etc. etc. You're inspiring xx Much love ❤
Yay! I really enjoy the classes, and they aren't paying me to take classes or talk about it. It's just a really great sponsor for me, and I just discovered they are doing cooking stuff on Skillshare too.... 🤯
Lmao when I was in highschool I had erasable pens I feel like hugging Martina. (I graduated highschool in 2004) not that many colors but blue and black? Yup. Not sure if they really caught on or are still a thing cause .... I haven't really used much stationary or had a need for a bunch of pens in a long time but. Also I'm not going to burst her bubble so. Martina YOU FOUND SOMETHING AMAZING!!! (Rediscovering my childhood here)
I could really use the refillable notebook. Finding the refills might be difficult to find in Canada though. 😞 I own fiction pens already. They are really nice quality. But I stopped purchasing but I cant find the refills.
