Has anybody known that electronic pulse starters for fluorescent lamps were made for the Japanese market? What you see here in the video is a test run of a Toshiba FE5P electronic pulse starter that is intended to replace Japan’s commonly used FG-5P glowbottle fluorescent starters designed for their 32W preheat circline fluorescent fixtures, their 830mm 32W preheat linear fluorescent fixtures, and their FPL28 preheat CFL fixtures as well. Additionally, these FE5P starters can also serve as a suitable electronic pulse starter alternative to a North American FS12 glowbottle starter. A well known advantage that these electronic pulse starters have over conventional glowbottle starters is the fact that they can help prolong the lives of fluorescent lamps used in preheat fixtures because they gently preheat the cathodes of fluorescent lamps to the right temperature for optimal starting and cause no sputtering of electrode emitter material that is caused by conventional glowbottle starters whenever they ignite fluorescent lamps by causing them to blink during startup. Electronic pulse starters are also known to typically have end of lamp life protection because they only attempt to start fluorescent lamps with just one attempt rather than multiple attempts with conventional glowbottle starters.
