Renault had extremely rearwards weight distribution. Reason for this can be speculated far too much for one message, but as far as driving goes, Renault drivers did often turn the wheel 'too much' to get rid of excessive front grip, which in turn settles rear grip, giving car more predictable handling.
Before I got to this video, I saw one where Trulli put 100% of his reflections in Canada in the rain. This is also repeated here, because Jarno's reflexes were part of his handling.
What is the weigh distribuition of the R24 - the Renault of 2004? Why does Trulli and Alonso steer so agressibly - had they understeer or ovesteer, at turn-in, because of weight distribuition?
Something you guys might find interesting: the reason he sort of 'throws' the nose of the car into a corner violently is to exploit the Renault's weight bias. Something Fernando used to great affect :)
@@FeintMotion Alonso got beaten by Trulli in 2004. 46-45 for Jarno (plus a race win)before Flavio fired him after Monza for absolutely no reason other than to favor his Spanish investment. Trulli beat Alonso in 2004 and outqualified him over their 2 seasons together. In 2005 Alonso got lucky with Kimi's McLaren breaking down. And 2006 he was nowhere once the mass damper was banned.
@@ciaronsmith4995 You have a big obsession with Fernando, i don't know why you hate him, it's good to be so fan for a driver like you are with Kimi, but being a fanboy of a driver and throwing hate at other drivers that's not good at all and a very very bad behaviour on your part, you always talk about 2004 about this duo but you never mention 2003 when Fernando clearly dominate Jarno because in 2004 it was so tied between the 2 and they had so much reliability problems, Flavio fired Jarno becasue he was so angry with him after magny-cours when he lose the double podium for Renault in his home grand prix in the penultimate corner of the last lap against Rubinho and it was unacceptable for him to lose the position by that way letting the door completely open for Rubens to pass him, and the team was angry with him because in mid-season he signed a pre-contract with Toyota. In 2005 Fernando and Kimi were exceptional and the 2 would deserved to win the title, Kimi had the fastest car and Fernando had the most reliable car, so in the end it could only be 1 winner and Fernando was so consistent that year with 15 podiums. In 2006 Fernando deserved the title more than Schumi because he was better overall during all the season and more consistent than Michael because Schumi made 2 big mistakes in Melbourne and Monaco that cost him so much points and in Budapest he made so much mistakes during the race and the direction could not resist on the final laps, he was only unlucky in Suzuka but Fernando was more unlucky that year in Budapest and Monza when he lost 16 points without being his fault, so even without the mass damper Fernando was so so good in that 2nd half of the season and did the maximum, he won in Suzuka after a very good recovery from p5 and an amazing pace matching the Ferrari's pace, in Budapest it would have been the biggest victory in his career starting p15, in Shanghai he would have won if the team not made him lose 20 seconds in the pits, in Monza he was p3 after a big recovery after the unfair penalty in qualifiyng, in Istanbul he give his maximum to fight against the Ferraris that they were a completely rockets in 2nd half of the year and to resist 15 laps Schumi with the powerful Ferrari behind him like he did in Imola 2005, in Magny-Cours he did the maximum he could done by finishing p2 just behind Schumi, the 2 only grands prix when he really suffered with the pace were Indianapolis and Hockenheim and he manages so well to finish p5 in both races and scoring very important points, so in general Fernando was really good in that 2nd half of the year
You never mention 2003 when you always talk about the trulli/alonso duo, the qualifiyng duel in 2003 was 8-8 and in 2004 it was 7-8 in favour of Jarno so it's very good for Fernando considering that Jarno was a beast in qualifiyng, but on the race Fernando beat him the 2 years they made together in Renault, in 2003 he beat him 5-2 in the races when the 2 finished and in 2004 he beat him 5-4, so in general Fernando was better in the overall of the 2 years with 100 points and Jarno with 79 points.
@@flazone4486 So Alonso was outqualified by a guy Ralf Schumcher demolished in quli in 2006. Ralf also beat Trulli in 2005 and 2006 easily in points. Something Alonso failed to do.Food for thought.
@@ciaronsmith4995 Alonso was faster in first sector so not much faster... also this year was bad for Alonso but who cares? Speak about france gp where Coulthard beat Kimi :D
