I think the "casualness" of his delivery in this one aligns with the lyrics describing him resigned to what he's gonna do and accepting the inevitable consequences
Need to do some of the newer stuff for a little more emotion in the voice, “Cover me Up” live at the Ryman. “What’ve I done to help” , “only Children” everything is great though
I feel like his live performances give more of the emotion you're looking for! You guys should check out Pale Fire by Amanda Shires (Jason Isbell's wife), it's a beautifully written song and Amanda's voice is so good!
I get chills listening to his voice in this song, not to mention the words and music. I love you guys and hearing reactions to each songs(all kinds of reactions) but I do not like “rating” an artist’s music. You guys are very thoughtful in doing so. Thanks for that.
Good reaction. Isbell's lyrics paint a picture. A true genius. I would be interested to see you guys react to The White Buffalo "The Whistler" at Guitar Center. I think you guys would really dig it.
Hey guys! Loving these videos. Now to help support your future endeavors here comes a request bomb. Can you review these songs? Jimmy eat world - sweetness, pain, big casino, gotta be somebody’s blues Jason Isbell and the 400 unit - If we were vampires, white man’s world, anxiety Turnpike troubadours- good lord lorrie, before the devil knows we’re dead Whiskey meyers - stone Miley Cyrus - nothing else matters Nice cave and the bad seeds - where the wild roses grow
Is it a reaction video if the creators look ahead in the lyrics mid song? They literally looked up the best line before he even sung it, then READ IT OUT LOUD and said “oh that’s good”.
His delivery on every word is calculated by Jason. He will start songs over if he misses one word at times because each word is so measured and important. He doesn't waste any lyrics in his writing. I've been a fan since the early 2000's with DBT. He is the best. I have a hard time listening to other artists because I don't get that punch in the gut. Btw...it's pronounced Iz Bull. Not Is Bell.
La La La, he’s purposely being casual, and juxtaposes the subject matter against the casualness. You’re forced to really pay attention to catch what the story is about. Imo.
