There was a mental ward in Jason’s home town called the 400 unit. His mom used to tell him if he keeps up his bad behavior he’d wind up in the 400 unit. She was right.

Easily my top song of the year and my top album of the year. This song is also absolutely blistering live.

Don, thanks for the great reaction! I like that you highlighted his struggle with drug abuse. On the other hand, the thing that stood out most to me in the song was losing his girlfriend/wife. Especially the line, “Mollie don’t believe me/says she’s gonna leave me/says the kids won’t know my name.” Wow! Talk about a gut punch. It’s truly a man whose life has spiraled out of control probably due to a workplace accident (his back was hurt). He “doesn’t have anything left to lie about.”

Wow, now that's a powerful song. Yes the video adds a lot too, but the song itself is brilliantly done. Thank you Claxton for this awesome request, and thanks Don for the outstanding reaction.

Love this. You already know, but Jason is the elite of elite songwriters working today. I put him up there with songwriters like Dylan, McCartney/Lennon, and Joni Mitchell. His ability to tell a story with such intimate personal details and to draw you into the characters in a song is incredible.

Thank you Claxton for the good request. Powerful song The band takes its name from the 400 Unit, which is what locals once called the psychiatric ward of Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence, Alabama Thanks Don for your reaction

Jason has really honed his guitar skills over the years. He and Sadler make an awesome 2 guitar attack. There's another video out of this song being performed live and his guitar playing steals the show. As if the lyric writing talent wasn't enough.

I’ve known a few “Kings of Oklahoma” in my life, and this songs just lays it bare and hits hard. I hope anyone who is struggling with addiction, along the horrible chain of hardship that comes with it, has access to treatment and a solid social support network of real deal friends and family.

I think write my own prescriptions means he's getting his pills on the street. Doctor got him addicted and then cut him off. Leaving him to find his fix on his own.
