agreed, I hate it when people call him a pop artist. He's so much more. Like you said, you can't really describe his music with a genre. The best thing I can up with is its real, true music with substance. He's one of those people that really feel and enjoy music.
ive seen jason 3 times and seen countless over performances on youtube and not once have i seen him play the same song the same way twice thats what i love about him
I have this DVD it kicks ass! Its a shame the other songs arnt up here. On this DVD he has the best performace of Absoutly Zero which is just unbelieveable vocal.
i love the whole band thing he does, but if he would ever decide to settle on only small acoustic shows with toca, maybe 3-400 people, i wouldn't be opposed lol, i love his ability to flat out improvise on the spot, not just lyrics, but to put a spin on the vocal melody too, something fresh and new =)! started listening to him in the late 90's, and don't think i'll EVER stop... the man is a true inspiration!
Have any of u ever heard the acoustic version of this song of an album called Sold Out(in stereo) its simply amazing epic use of all types of instruments and his voice sounds more raw and natural if u loved this version u have to look for the version im talkin bout its simply amrazing
Yes, yes, he does! Saw him in september in Zurich. It was truly amazing. It felt like spending a few hours in the sun or somewhere...I expected to come out to a bright sun and a nice beach after the show! :-)
Yeah, I agree. I was first exposed to Mraz on the radio waves, through some pretty Pop-ish treatment with his songs. And even back then, he stood out. But this guy is in a totally different league live. It's a genuine "experience" by itself.
jason mraz does quite a few european tours though luckily. i saw him in frankfurt last month and it was amazing ! i think he's got another european tour coming up soon, you should check it out !
Sometimes, I hate the fact that I live in Europe, because there are so many artists we never see here... But we have some good artists too you don't get to see!! :-) Kidding! Altough, it's a bit frustrating. For my sake, there's RU-vid! :-)
@leicestergirl63 buy the album "live at eagles ballroom" youll find both of them on there. theres a dvd sold with the album. this video is from that dvd :)
i think you are dead wrong on one thing.. dave has great lyrics.. he is more so a songwriter than a singer.. keep in mind he never wanted to sing, he wrote his songs for him to play guitar and someone else sing..
it's called "Blue eyed soul" It's the perfect definition of Jason's music. :] He's heavily influenced by 70s band like Earth Wind and Fire, Steely Dan, Bob Marley, etc. He takes the best of a lot of different, talented musicians.
@Lairdmbex Thanks. I had a look on the UK Amazon site and I can get it from there. I think someone may be getting it for me as a present, fingers crossed ! !
Actually he has, not well known, but he mentions some of his songs are out dated in one of his countless mini-interviews, curbside prophet has a lot of his brilliant outside of the line notions and experiences from the late 90's =). You're right though, he got signed then, but i mean even bands like hanson played for 5 years together before recognition (btw not a fan of mmbop but their 2007 song New Great Divide, is pretty crazy... random i know lol)
Well I believe it's about him and a girl, and he makes the choice to split and since breaking up he can't go back on his choice or doesn't want to, therefore the title 'No Doubling Back.' My take on it anyway!
@freeOurMinds31 I think John Mayer seems to have a reputation for being a douchebag! Jason Mraz, on the other hand, seems to be a really likeable, down to earth guy and he's a great singer too - better than John Mayer!
