@calholli
@calholli 3 года назад
Just a suggestion... You would be a lot better off to take some of your flatter rocks and lay them out in the bottom of these puddles/ holes.. and then bust gravel over the top... So then you're only breaking the biggest pieces with the machine and not having to break every single little piece; so it's a much more efficient operation, and also it will keep the gravel from sinking into the mud so easy over time.

I adore your videos and in the next video you could make a receiver for the rock crusher so that you would fill it once or a few times and that's it that way it would be much less work for you

Need a conveyor belt so you can take the crusher to the rubble dump and crush gravel straight into a tipper trailer. Saves double-handling into the trailer, plus spreading is easier from a tipper trailer (like Andrew Camarata does gravel with his tip truck). Munched that flint no problem - awesome machine!

Definitely need a jack shaft; making more powder than you probably like. Base layer you're on the right track with the larger sized aggregate; top layer you actually want more concrete powder, the original cross bond's of the concrete will partially reform and really pack in well. Another trick we used on the farm was to rake in some fresh concrete powder with all of the crushed in the top layer, it really tightens up the mix, but is only useful for the finer sized aggregate, like you made in your initial tryout video. The coarse stuff you made in this video is great for the initial layers in potholes, but you need the finer stuff if you want a smoother finish.

Absolutely love the build first off. There seems to be something about the motion of the jaw that's causing it to be ineffective. To short of a stroke or to long or maybe how the lower part of the jaw moves. This looks like it would make a good secondary crusher getting fed consistently sized rock from a larger crusher. Love it man keep em coming.

You may want to use A.R. series steel for your next set of wear plates. Also if you use 1 set of horizontal crusher teeth placed like louvers down to the last 2 inches (keep that part horizontal) of jaw on the stationary side of the crusher it will help with feeding the rock through and speed up the crushing process the horizontal louvers catch and prevent the material being crushed from climbing the jaws also reducing the wear on the jaw plates

You should try to adjust the tire pressure,or solve vibrations "issues" with dampening or global mass modification. The mobile jaw is closing while the trailer is boucing up : the rocks are pushed upwards when they should be pinched and crushed : take a look at reduced 0.25 speed. It's killing a lot of efficiency,the rocks are basically escaping upwards.

Cone crusher is most generally a second crusher in a series, it's limitations is the difference between the exiting rock is and the size of the entering rock. If the rock entering is the size of a soccer ball ⚽️ then the outgoing rock can only be crushed down to a baseball size. To achieve rock like he is spreading the incoming rock needs to be baseball ⚾️ size otherwise it will not fit in the opening to get crushed. In the big mines the first crusher takes rocks the size of refrigerators and reduces them to half the size, the next reduces them to half again and so on. Initially the start up cost is huge but the tons per hour is extraordinary faster than one crusher trying to reduce huge boulders down to finish product in one go.

You might experiment with varying the tire pressure or using a solid wheel of some type. As it is now, the entire machine hops up and down countering the moving jaw, but the input chunks hop out slightly before the jaw bites it. I suspect limiting the main body dynamics will let the jaw decimate the input chunks better. To this end, balancing and or reducing the speed may help too. For the average size chunk weight/mass, there may be a slower speed where the hop intensity works to your advantage. Really enjoying this series, though. I'm surprised at how effective it is. And, you get perfect driveway materials, some combo of sand, pebbles and rocks. It should roll out nicely.

An electric motor sounds like a worthwhile change. I worked at an iron mine down near the Mexican border many years ago. They used the massive concentric crusher driven by a massive electric motor. It could be stopped by some loads of poorly blasted ore. My job was to sound a warning horn when the ore chunks were way too big and the dump truck driver would stop dumping until the clean up crew could move the big ore chunks around and then resume crushing. Suprisenly it was a very quiet process.
