Fun fact: the yellow barrels are not just for a marker, they also increase the floatation of the shark preventing them from diving for very long and tiring them out

Interesting fact: One of the survivors of the real life ship incident in Quint's backstory saw the movie and teared up when the story was told of the sinking. The government had mostly swept it under the rug, and he had no idea it would ever go mainstream.

I always loved the subtle detail of the boat being named the Orca, a species of dolphin that hunts seals, penguins, whale calves, and of course, sharks.

Fun fact: John Williams was at a bar with other composers when he bet with them that he could make a song recognizable by only two notes, shorter than the very recognizable first four notes of Fur Elise. His buds said “that won’t happen.” Then he wrote the iconic Jaws score, which can be recognized by the first two notes.
