This was one of the best Duke teams...Jay Williams, Carlos Boozer, Shane Battier, Chris Duhon, and Mike Dunleavy all making the league

That was the same year of the miracle minute. That was crazy, I was a young kid and remembered all too well. I am from Northern Va. and a huge "underdog mentality" Md. Terps fan. That was an awesome year for both teams. The year after MD won the NCAA as well

Right. It was a such beautiful game back then. An inspiration. I remember watching 80s and 90s inside out game with tough def. Then in 2000s it was put all together for about 6 years until the rules change. There was a time from like 1999 to like 2006 where It was middy j's, 3balls, swift passing, excellent playmaking, dunks out the gym, ankle breaking because of and1 😂, Plus tough defense was still allowed. I loved watching the spurs win that title in the 90s. The lakers in early 2000s, and even Philly and detroit. The league literally had plays and sets and the players were smarter and just well coached to where they would just ball out. Nowadays there is no swift passing, breaking ankles, contact defense, middy j, interesting finishing around the rim, ball handling. I watch the game and its literally every team 3 man weave around the perimeter then a 3ball, or iso into a 3 step travel back 3 ball. Everyone from 7footers to 5ft nothing guys. The europeans that came kinda started it like Dirk, and Manu, and Peja, even Tony. They played a more weave and pass motion style in euroball. But what really killed it was the rules change of 2001 or 3 i cant remember when and then Steph Curry and James Harden assassinated it. Resurrected it and assassinated it again. Harden with his travel back, and all his dumb loophole moves to get a bunch of free throws and then curry just pulling up from london all the damn time you literally could not catch up if he went on a 5 shot run and got hot it was all of a sudden a tie game went to 38 -20 in your eye real fast. The league had to get shooters. Statistically speaking you could never catch curry and the warriors if he or thompson got hot. Not happening. Lmao. It got to a point where I would channel flip see a random warriors game on and the score would be like 44 -42 blazers with aldridge cooking. Then I would go watch a show for about 8 mins and when I come back its 75 53 warriors with the warriors chant coming out. Im like welp this games over. 😂 Blazers scored 10 pts in 10 minutes not great but ok. Warriors scored 31 from curry and klays 3s in the same 8 minutes. You couldnt do nothing but watch.😂 Just crazy. So yeah I remember beautiful bball when every aspect of the game was necessary. You had to be a ball handler, you had to be smart, you had to play great def, you had to find different finishers at the rim, you had to have strength, you had to have a jumpshot and be at least competent from 3, you had to have great bigmans, You had to run plays. It was great back then. I remember in around 99-2006 i was trying to get much better at ankle breaking and ball handling, and getting to a middy j and rim. I dont even remember anyone working on stepbacks at all. 😂 At the park or the y. I remember I wanted an all around game like AI or Kobe. Tmac a little later. Nowadays these players rely on lazy Harden loophole moves to get a shot. Which is why theres no ball handling and passing and steph curry chuck ups where youre not even trying to get inside the arch at all just sisde to sude so you can get just enough space to call it a semi contested 3ball.😭. The game would benefit right now from a AI or a Kobe that gets everywhere and has a blend of Dribbling, passing, shooting, and dunking, with the IQ and defensive toughness. I would kill for an all around player to come into the league and show how dominant a two way guy with great IQ can be.
