How you know Jay is a truly empathetic & caring man was how he said ''let's not use hurricane cause so many are affected'' he was using a metaphor and realised it might be in bad taste or cause others pain and switched to a word that would describe what he was talking about but equally thoughtful of those affected by hurricanes by choosing the word 'pain'. What an absolute gentleman.

Jay-Z always amazes me. He has such profound wisdom. They say "wisdom is born of pain" and I think that it true. However, J's wisdom not only came from pain, but from his ability to follow his instincts no matter what the price. I love the way he speaks of his marital issues and his obviously strong love for Beyonce. They are in it for the long haul, and that is so refreshing.

I am so puzzled that people noticed that I had no time to study his posture. I did notice when he talked about Bey he was careful with his words that's about it. He gave such a nice interview and there are people who took away that he crossed his legs? But I get it on RU-vid people are used to paying attention for 3 to 5 mins tops watching music videos, asking them to pay attention for 35 is asking waaaay too much if it isn't a video game walk through that is😆😆

@blaine4239
@blaine4239 5 лет назад
@captain_ahab I know this is months old, but.... Kenyan runners is due to high altitude. Higher altitude, less oxygen to take it. When they come to other areas, they don't need as much oxygen to take in compared to others. Therefore, they can last longer and push their bodies harder. So, in a way, yeah you can call that evolution-ish. But that's more of growing accustomed to your environment. The Asian thing isn't even accurate though. That's just basic genetics. If you got a specific combination of genes going for being tall/short, that's what's going to happen. So that's just because one person had a child with someone else; not evolution 🤦🏾‍♂️

Notes I took on this interview: -Important to show where you came from, what it took to get here -The best things are invisible, I cant put compassion in your hands -Repeat what those who are successful do, those habits made them what they are -Have the uncomfortable dialogue (on racist business owners getting kicked out of the NBA) -Concealing an issue doesnt get rid of it, you need to diagnose the problem first and that doesnt happen until you talk about it -Most important thing learnt in therapy: Every emotion is connected and it comes from somewhere- "you're acting this way towards me because of this? Im gonna respond with compassion because that thing happened to you." -You can only do the best that you can do and you should be proud of yourself for that- and also recognise when other people do their best -These objects are not the most beautiful things I have, its the friendships, the compassion and the person I have become -Rap is discovery, what do you know thats new? Thats whats cool -Do you wanna be a trend or louis vuitton? -Doing a bad thing whilst being fully conscious of its effects is worse than doing a bad thing when you are ignorant of the consequences

@Davide Lecky People like to think they are good. Its hard to look at someone going through pain and realize that you were the person who caused it. You have to own the person you are and the wrong things you did in order to change yourself for the better. Many people just walk away from their marriages and focus on the wrongs the other person did, rather than see the bad in themselves.

"You don't wanna look inside yourself... so you walk away." POWERFUL. Very powerful. Accurate. That IS the hardest thing. You can walk away from people... but you can't walk away from yourself. It's crazy how the media tries to put artists against each other when behind the scenes it's really all love. JayZ mentioned his love for Kanye, respect for Nas, him going to therapy with Beyoncé and for himself, his love for Solange album and for her. These people are human. They fight, argue etc but at the end of the day it's all love.

I never ever understood "what are you looking at" until now. I always thought it was just a way of asserting and showing power or influence by inciting fear in others. I never saw it through the lens of "this person is looking at me in my time of pain or vulnerability" or "this person can see or recognize my pain or vulnerability...and I don't like that". That's very powerful and very true. Also, "intelligence is not a tribute to color" in reference to "you're talking white"-everything. And also "the hardest thing is seeing pain on someone's face that you caused and then have to deal with yourself...most people don't want to do that. You don't want to look inside of yourself, and so you walk away". I'm very glad to have watched this interview and see him in this light. Not just as a celebrity with money, and influence, and Bey, and a black man, but as a human. I still can't fully put into words all that I've taken from this, because I'm still processing it-and I think that that is a good thing to continue thinking about it and then having a conversation about it and continuing the dialogue- but I'm very happy to have seen this.

I think that that contributes to that thought process. If you think about it, someone showing you that they are unwilling to open up and are uncomfortable doing so or being vulnerable with you (or society) and expressing that in a way that can be threatening or hostile would lead anyone to deter from trying to figure that individual out you know? And even if it isn't in a threatening manner, just the fact that someone is showing or communicating (even if not explicitly or just through body language) that they aren't comfortable to be vulnerable and are unwilling to do so, I'd say most people would be considerate of that individual and respect that boundary so then, of course people don't understand or relate or see your humanity you know? Because that's not even an option yea? It's not even on the table. So then that yields to many people, especially black men, being misunderstood or judged or regarded as inept of having, or at least expressing, human emotion, therefore the rest of society can't connect, so again as you've said, that translates to society not recognizing your humanity.

Yes, this was a very powerful interview. Jay-Z has always had a stillness about him. However, in this interview I can see that his guard is fully down and he's speaking from a vulnerable/deeper place himself. The 'What are you looking at' comment touched me as well. Considering that my brother was 'that person' asking people that question, I'm excited to discuss with him exactly what he was going through at that time. Nevertheless, you've highlighted most of the points that really resonated with me...I'm interested to know if you felt he was 100% honest...still so much to unpack from this interview.
@kennaem6730
@kennaem6730 6 лет назад
You say "excited to discuss with him", does that mean that you will be interviewing him soon? How neat. And to answer your question about his honesty, I actually like to watch and listen to interviews multiple times so that I can get a read (through facial expression, body language, on whether or not someone is being completely genuine or honest in their responses, even if I think it's only part of the truth because they aren't as willing to share the complete truth-and I feel as though he was completely honest in this interview. Though I believe that he held some things back, I feel as though everything that he did say and share was with full honesty because, like you said, he was speaking from a vulnerable/deeper place in himself. It's also just very pleasant to take in all of what he has given to us in this interview, not only because the information is helpful and relatable, but because he's never really been a guy to speak so much or go into detail about so many facets of his life. He's usually quite mum about the inner workings of his personal life, except that glimpse and perspective that he gives through his music, so it's just nice to see him more as another person rather than this mysterious and private celebrity that everyone wonders about or puts on a pedestal or no one can relate to.

Jay-Z and Beyonce will never do a interview with the breakfast Club again. Because they know how immature and disrepectfull the Breakfast Club is. This interview is matured
