The nerds react to Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals between Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics and Tyrese Haliburton, Pascal Siakam, Myles Turner and the Indiana Pacers.
Instead of a loss with the Celtics needing to make adjustments, it turned into a win with the Celtics still making adjustments. This is your chance, Pacers. Get ready for a sweep! The Celtics are the smartest defensive team, and you think they won't adapt? FEEL OUT GAME.
Logan: ”This is not a normal game for them.” And they still somehow got it done. Sometimes you gotta be pleased with the end result and not nag on the process
These nerds would be less confounded by Tatum if they just realize that his strength is his ability to enable his teammates on both ends of the floor and not as a hard carrying scorer with an ego to match. Jason Timpf has realized this lately but these two just don't get him.
The Celtics offense runs best with White as the initiator or in the action. It’s obvious if you have watched this team the last two seasons. Otherwise, it becomes ISO ball.
I thought it was a bit weird that you guys talked for 10 minutes about Horford's defense and never mentioned Porzingis. Are you just assuming he doesn't play at all this series? Woj has reported he could play as soon as game 4. There's Boston's solution to the Horford issue.
Pacers uncharacteristically had wayyy too many turnovers. I thought they would be gassed but their offense is still really nice. I think they steal game 2
This is the kind of loss that could cost them the series... It was already going to be an uphill battle for the Pacers trying to upset the Celtics, and I feel like losing this game cost them any real chance of winning the series.
yeah but he’s saying that if they’re going to turn to tatum for last minute shot attempts, then he should have some sort of volume in the minutes leading up to that as well. he’s not saying that tatum is the only player who should touch the rock in the 4th that would be ridiculous.
I actually feel better about Indiana's chances, not worse. If they can execute like this on the road in Game 1, why shouldn't they be even better at home? Boston hardly has looked like some juggernaut in these playoffs. And how are they going to solve Horford being targeted? They can't exactly take him off the floor with Porzingis being unavailable.
Idk, I mean Siakam, Nembhard, Turner and Haliburton were all shooting lights out and they still couldn't win. I doubt their shot making will be as good the rest of the series. 6 points came off of Haliburton prayers at the buzzer
@@timocruz510you clearly haven’t been paying attention to the pacers than they make shots more consistently and better than anyone else in the playoffs . I thought the same thing but I have excited Indiana is an elite Offensive team they get the shots they want most of the time
The largest lead for the Pacers was 5 at 1:35 left, it was a 1 point lead at 0:57, and people call it a "choke" and a "steal". Can we please stop overreacting to everything and chill a little? Is this the Caitlin Clark effect, basketball fans are losing their minds over her and it's spilling over into the NBA playoff reactions?
I disagree with the sentiment that the series is now over (ie. a MUST win for Indiana in g1) - I think many didn't give the Pacers a chance to win this game and the fact that they threw it away themselves is a sign that they can hang with Boston going forward. I think it'll be an interesting one if both teams avoid TO trouble. Indiana will also be in much better shape if they clean up their foul situation... it wasn't even close. Game 2 is really the must win for IND at this point.
The thing is, idk if the Pacers are gonna keep up that shot making. Sure they hunted Horford, but those were still some tough looks in the midrange. They blew this one and I doubt their shotmaking will be as good in any other game this series
the Pacers fouled the most out of any team this year in the regular season with 1.8k fouls. the Celtics committed the second least, with 1.3k. there's going to be a large foul differential in any given game with those kinda of teams.
@@gavcurtis2994 Maybe you should watch the game. JB fouled Siakam on an inbounds that the refs didn't call, tugged his jersey in crystal-clear 8k which allowed him to stay close enough to deflect the ball which was called out on Indiana. Should've been 2 FTs for Siakam. Haliburton got fouled so clear as day across the arms on a drive that even Doris said it should've been FTs. Pacers had only 6 FTs in regulation because Boston was allowed to grab, hold, swipe, and tackle all night long. Clearly you're a box score watcher lol
Jokic is OVERRATED Not worthy of ANY MVP’s…! Lacks Defensive ability & in a league featuring 2way players crowning a great offensive player MVP is oxymoronic…!!!!

Maybe open up your eyes, hopefully your little brain doesn't leak out through your corneas. The Pacers have the WORST defense in the playoffs, and that's even AFTER adjusting for their gimmicky pace. They are also shot chuckers and don't do anything to create fouls... The Celtics have been the 2nd best defense the entire year behind the Twolves. They play out of the post, slash inside, and take jumpshots.
