@@raymondharding9670 The NBA media *still* gets about five times more excited about the potential of Joel Embiid at the start of every season then they ever get about Tatum or the Celtics. Watch it happen again this year.
Exactly @The2006Scaper you hit it right on the money Basketball isnt just scoring points, what else can you bring to the table to help your team win. What other aspects you great at.
1000 percent, that's why Bill Russell is my goat bc if we're talking about best player and not best scorer, then it's about the whole game and Tatum is top 5 easy rn if you're including both sides of the ball
There's so many athletic freaks in the NBA, I'm convinced it's the mentality that sets most of them apart. Tatum put it all together mentally this year and became whatever kind of player the team needed. Also with the talking heads in the media who don't think Tatum is a super star, lol whatever... the coaches of the opposing teams seem to disagree with their defensive assignments, and I put more stock into their understanding of the game than your average ESPN anchor.
Tatum did what he needed to his game. Exactly what weve wanted. Got bigger, much more efficient at the rim, better playmaker, better rebounder, better decision maker deserving of being the centerpiece of an offense. He lost some shooting ability, probably related to the weight he gained, but hes only 26 and i think that will come back with a bit more work. Hes modified the game the exact way we all said he needed to though, so the hard part is done.
@sendo__ "hE hAs nO AuRa".... Such an npc take. Aura isn't a real thing. It's just something weirdos say to compensate their lack of valid criticism. Pathetic.
Let the casuals split hairs over media driven narratives like MVPs and superstar tier lists. Basketball is all about team ball and JT is the ultimate team player.
Before turning 27 years old Jordan Playoff appearances: 6 Finals appearances: 0 Rings: 0 Lebron Playoff appearances: 6 Finals appearances: 0 Rings: 0 Curry Playoff appearances: 3 Finals appearances: 1 Rings: 1 Tatum Playoff appearances: 7 Finals appearances: 2 Rings: 1 People just don’t realize how young he is. He got his team to the ecf as a ROOKIE. The man is just entering his prime. This will be first of many‼️
I’m still waiting on Joy Taylor from Fox, who went on TV and trashed Jayson Tatum and Boston Celtics all season and playoffs, to talk on air about the Celtics winning. She hasn’t done it. She took a vacation immediately following the finals and has gone on TV since then speaking about everything besides the NBA Finals. Pretending it didn’t even happen.
Tatum is the best American player in the NBA by far... And Tatum is the second best player in this NBA behind jokic... And after next season when Tatum gets his second ring... Tatum will be considered the best player in the NBA and the face of the NBA
AAAAaand he led the team in PPG lol. Your entire argument makes no sense when you have the actual numbers in front of you. He had the most points, assists and rebounds per game. He was putting up the most points on the Celtics. You're right his whole game was great all series long, but he never became the second option on the team. Brown deserved the MVP though, he made some spectacular hero shots and completely shut down Luka "ThE bEsT pLaYeR iN tHe WoRlD" Doncic. That's what's nice about these Celtics, and others will eventually come to realize. They've got TWO superstar players that are going to lock down the NBA for the next 5 years.
Hiw luka is the best player in the world..he didn't even led his team to win a chip..and he played no defense at all..i will take jt over him 24/7 jt is a complete package of a player he is. Unlike doncic that plays no denfense
Tatum shut down Luka more than brown did If Tatum wasn't defending dallas' centers Luka would just run a pick n roll which would have forced brown to switch onto the ce ter and Luka would have a mismatch against horford/porzingus/kornet/Tillman Because after the center set the pick Tatum would be switching onto Luka, dallas' completely went away from running the pick n roll... Playing good defense on Luka like brown did is one thing... Completely stopping Dallas from running their offense like Tatum did is a whole nother level
How much does the NBA media wants Tatum to do next...they keep on undermining him...but those words push Tatum to championships next season...they can't admit his one of the greatest players
Y'all would've traded him for AD anyways. Plus Danny Ainge would've kept the pick and drafted Tatum at #1 if he thought there was even the slightest chance that LA or Philly would take JT.
for me the best player on the team is the one who gets doubled or tripled. he is the only guy whom the defense collapses. and it makes me smile how tatum outsmarted those teams with his passes. even brown benefited from his assists. and he doesn't care, he is now a champion and whatever the critics say, they can't take that chip away from him. they can say all they want against tatum, but to be a champion is all that matters to him. he has done historic things already, so the championship ring solidifies his legacy
The crazy thing is the growth trajectory for Tatum. Back in 2021, I said that if Tatum could learn to pass and be a 5-8 APG threat, he would win a ring and he's grown into that role. What's funny to me is that people talk about Tatum and say 'he's not a superstar because his shot is unreliable' or because 'he doesn't get enough points per game'. Yet most of these people anointed Kyrie as an offensive superstar and the second best player in the series...yet Kyrie's offense was substantially worse than JT's and he contributed very little of the defense and rebounding that Tatum did. When you look at forwards in the NBA, name some that can threaten 40+ points, 10+ Rebounds and 10+ assists on any given night WHILE playing good defense. Prime Lebron is the one that jumps to mind. Kawhi is an elite defender and shooter and can rebound, but generally is not a great passer. Luka is a great offensive player and can rebound but his defense has now become a meme. Anthony Edwards looks great on both ends but is still figuring out the playmaking bit. So really Tatum is almost alone in that category. I think he doesn't get the hype because he doesn't have to try and be a one man show and because he is a quiet guy that doesn't bark back or make waves. Talent-wise, I don't know what else people want. If he was shooting 40% from beyond the way that the "analysts" seem to expect, then he'd be arguably the best player in the NBA. A 40% distance shooter who can threaten a triple double on any given night while being able to defend 1-4 at a high level? Doesn't currently exist in the NBA. Barely even exists in 2K.
Colin Cowherd is one of the most annoying clowns out there, I hate him so much, he pretends he watches Celtics games when it's very obvious he doesn't. So bad.
This is why I say Tatum is top 5 in the league rn, this season he learned how to be the leader his team needed by moving the ball around n setting up the plays his teammates needed and loved getting. N showed that he can get crazy points n crazy rebounds n assists. Ppl love to forget that in game 1 and 2 he was being tripled teamed on each possession, so he focused on getting boards n assists. Jrue Holiday mentioned that in his interview that Tatum was the tru shot caller. N game 3 n 5 he put up 2 30+ point games, resulting in him leading his team n points, rebounds, n assists in the finals. Shìt his stats looked better in the post season than in the regular season, tatums top 5 (only possible swap out is Anthony Davis) if u don’t agree you’re a hater or don’t know ball fr🤷🏾♂️
I would like to thank you for PROPERLY evaluating jt. Jt did exactly what was needed to win this championship. It’s crazy how ppl would give credit to players like jokic, luka, bron, sga if they adjust their game but when it’s jt it’s crickets
Wow, the entire NBA is "humiliated"! It's true. I saw Cade Cummingham hiding under a towel to avoid being asked questions. And Dillon Jones sobbing outside his apartment. How will they ever live this down?
I prefer to be a team player rather than playing as an individual to win a title, but you have some NBA fans out here who prefer stats and hero ball over winning. Then they complain when the role players are not consistent on both ends of the floor, and the star player has no help. But it all starts with upper management, and at times, they fail to put the right pieces around the star players to try and win a title.
This is the problem with excessive media, social media and sports media all the time. They all want players to win it all now. Tatum has grown as a player since I've been watching him. He's only 26. MJ, LeBron, Curry didn't win their first titles until they were 27-28. Tatum is 26. MJ and LeBron struggled early on too but the major difference is that Tatum's growth came at the height of excessive media exposure. That all said, these Celts are primed for another ring or two right now.
since both JB7 and JT are entering their prime right now, it's arguable that the Cs have two complementary superstars, who are surrounded by all-stars: an all NBA defensive backcourt, and the 7'2" unicorn the smart analysts were all asking how does a team guard a 5 that is lethal if you double up on one of them, because everyone can get hot, shoot, drive to the rim, post up, and space the floor. and in 2024-25, they'll be more centered, more confident and playing even better together. now they all know what it takes to lift the trophy staying healthy is the biggest challenge, not getting back to the ECF and eventually taking on the best in west.
Its going to be a ruff new season for these celtics haters. What they gon’say now?????? 😂 glad celtics won. Maybe thel get smarter and not ignore records and analytics.
He needs to start playing like Westbrook & Jokic...what I mean by that is he needs to start concentrating on getting his team involved early by racking up those assist & rebounds then in the second half he can go off so his numbers look like this... (27ppg-10rpg-9apg) that's how Westbrook & Jokic do it
@@MichaelMikeyspags Jokic and Westbrook teams are not overall as talented as the Celtics right now. So JT doesn’t really have to focus on his own accolades when there’s guys capable to help the team win as well. Is a team sport at the end of the day. The whole video explanation went over your head I see. 😵💫
Maybe some of diva tatums criticisms stem from the fact that tatum has played around ten finals games and for the amount of shots he has taken, he has the lowest fg pct. Of every finals player in history! Yeah but he plays greqt defense. You can pick up a lousy shooting defensive minded player for less than half of divas salary!
