Pressing the minus volume button + the bluetooth button TOGETHER for about 10 seconds - until both LEDs on the back (On-Button & Link-Button) flash up in white for a second - will switch to the NEXT sound eq setting. The Flip 4 has actually 4 different modes - I guess they are 4 different fixed internal EQ settings. One is very flat sounding with almost no deep frequencies - and the 3 others all have a slightly different BASS setting. Theres only one of those 3 Bass modes that I really like with very clear and balanced mid frequencies - the other 2 are too bass heavy for my taste.
Well, I did a little further research and it seems there's only really one mode you should use. When you do a factory reset of the Flip 4 - it will go back to the correct mode. The other ones aren't meant for listening purposes. As far as I could find out is, that these additional modes are implemented by JBL only for testing purposes and shouldn't be used for listening. The Flip 4 sounds the best in the standard mode anyway.

There's no such thing as “low frequency mode”. That mode you're using is a debug mode made for JBL to diagnose any issues with it. Listening to music with debug mode active can potentially cause damage.
My friends speaker we used to go to the park together and we both had flip 4s I never put my speaker in lfm because I knew it would break it but he always did and I warned him it would break it and one day he came to the park with out his speaker and said "my speaker died, it doesnt turn on or charge" and I warned him so dont do what happened to him
And even on full it wouldnt blow.The rated wattage of the speaker isn‘t exceeded and if the speakers excurse too much,it will automatically shut off. The stupidity in the comment section is just hilarious. OHHHH YOU CAN DESTROY THE SPEAKER,OHH LOW FREQUENCY MODE NOT GOOD Btw it is not called Low Frequency Mode. You‘re just disabling the DSP (Dynamic Sound Processing).That means the speakers are playing without equalization,and hence sound bad.

Please know that whenever you see anything on the internet that involves our products and claims of putting it in "low frequency mode", this information is incorrect. What is happening is that they are placing the unit in Bypass mode and when used this way at max volume, there is a risk of damaging the drivers or amp. You should not be holding down a series of buttons for an extended period of time. You should refer to what is provided in the quick start guide only. -from an actual JBL staff
