Just got both the XB40 and Pulse 3. XB40 definitely more bass, lights on the Pulse truly mesmerising. Damn what a choice, one has to go back and I can't decide.
I actually returned both! Loved the lights on the Pulse3, sound is clear but no bass. XB40 too much bass, drowns out mids and trebles. I ended up getting two other speakers - The H&K Go+Play for home and a really cheap 2nd hand Beoplay A2 Active for out and about. I love the Go+Play though.
a friend has the pulse, and I have two XB40, there is no comparaison, the basses on the XB is insane, to be honest I can't turn on the extra bass mode in my apartment because the pictures frame and plates are literally shaking, it's also very clear. It lacks of treble tho, but you can easily fix this by pushing it to +3 in the equalizer ;)
Cool thing very few people think of. If you want a hands on with these speakers, go to your local store that has them on demo. I went to Target and ended up liking the JBL much more than I thought I would. Even BOSE, was there in some of the DEMOS and I did find out I love a few of their speakers also. BTW, the beats pill is absolute crap.
I just bought the Sont XB40 for $149.99 @BB. Let me say it's worth the $149.99! I had a JBL Charge 2+ and it just blows it away in being loud. Only thing is when the battery goes low the sound goes low and your stuck with that volume till you charge it. If you can get over that then it's worth it!
I love how Pulse lights works, but I have two XB40 and it much more enjoyable, those are like two eyes in the dark, it does a better music sync experience overall and it feels like being in club with the strobes
The pulse 3 sounds a little better but overall the xb40 is the better speaker, it’s way louder, better and way more boomy bass and you can tweak the xb40 from the Sony app to make it sound better
@@torrez8144 exactly, I putted treble +3 and it's perfect for rock / metal / classical music. If you listen only to electro or rap, the default preset is okay
JBL Pulse 3 ....360 deg Lights with 360 deg sound...Tht is super cool, market-disruptive & great innovation by JBL....Sony sucks big time in this one..!
I have had the Sony. I sold it because the sound quality isn't good for me and you said it is better than the pulse 3 !!! I may forget about the pulse 3 now.
Mig K Yeah, I was also surprised when I heard that. In my opinion, the Pulse 3 sounds better, mostly because of the treble. I don’t like the sound of the XB40 at all, it’s only quantity, but no quality.
Otto's Audio then have you heard the pulse 3? Good to know it has better trebles. But still I'm willing to pay just for the good sound quality, and not for those lights. I guess the charge 4 will be quit promising, if you look at the improvement of the flip 4 and pulse 3 from the older versions and also I believe Jbl will not let the coming CHARGE4 behind the rivals Bose revolve + and Sony xb30. I guess it will be bigger than the charge 3. I intend to wait for it and buy too as I find two paired in stereo mode to be very satisfying.
Mig K Exactly! I havn’t heard the Pulse 3 in person yet, but I will purchase it pretty soon anyways, haha. I have heard it in a few comparison videos though, and it performs quite good. But as soon as I can listen to it in a store, I will listen to it there. Even though it’ll still take a while for the Charge 4 to arrive, I am very excited for it. The last few months, JBL really stepped up their game, and I am expecting the same to happen to the Charge 4. I can’t wait!
