Sony XB30 Review Vs Sony XB40 - Should You Pay Double? 

I have the xb30 and I absolutely love it. Sounds amazing and exceeding battery life.

Also the xb40 sounds better than the xb30,cause even when on a low volume with xb mode on,the xb40 will manage to produce the low tones,when the xb30 doesnt do it as well as the xb40 on a low volume level Also take into consideration that the xb30 will rattle a lot when songs with a lot of bass,whereas the xb40 wont,it will keep its calm and play them loud,deep and clear

sony has better sound quality comparin to JBL.

There are 2 methods of connecting these speakers, one of them will allow you to change the volume of both the speakers at the same time using your phone. You did the other method.

The Xb-40 can reach 24 hours with the volume set at 19/50 and with Light and Extra Bass off I think its the same for the xb-30 aswell

These sound great but the main thing that puts me off getting one of these is the charger. I do a lot of camping and festivals so not been able to use a power bank to recharge it makes this unusable for me. Also the forced lowering of volume at 20% battery life is a big no for me. I don't care if it is supposed to help save the battery let it be my own choice to lower the volume or not. Peace

Have only one SRS-30 so I am not sure what I write... there are 2 ways to connect those speakers, if you only will add a speaker (up to 10) as a mono you will have to adjust the volume for every unite for itself.... but if you will connect it to Stereo mode the volume control will be for both speakers ... will test is when I get the second one.

XB 40 has muddy sound XB30 is crystal clear - both out of box suck - the songpal app equalizer is the one to fix this settings XB 30 extra bass on in songpal app equalizer bass 10 mid 0 treble 10 XB40 extra bass off equalizer bass 10 mid 2 Treble 8 XB40 with extra bass on is muddy muffled sound...with or without equalizer! I prefer XB30 it has balanced sound after tweak & sparkly warm tube like sound after the applied settings XB40 with applied settings sounds laidback not as bright but this is the best it can do..xb40 on these settings sounds like any wolfson based digtal dac..nowhere near tube like bright crystal sound !

the xb30 is better i think. For a large speaker i'd go for the dockin dfine or the jbl xtreme or the soon outcoming jbl xtreme 2 :)

I ordered Xb40 .I think it's better than jbl pulse 2. In India we have only few models. I liked the lighting on Sony than pulse 2 also it is bigger and subs .

Hi. Some advice would be appreciated. I have 3 xb30 speakers. As soon as I connect one or more speaker they go out of sync within seconds. I have hardly used any of them,but I am already at the stage where I feel like giving up on them :(

I suggest paying double! As in buy two XB30s and run them in stereo, its way better than running one XB40.

Like really much the good deep bass, so JBL XTREME was a choice to me, but only the bass is kind of good, the sound is not clear. The xb30 has much clearer sound at mid and high. Of course not getting closer to the bass of the xtreme. The xb40 has a bit more bass of the xb30 but the sound of the xb30 appears less distorted.I am going for the xb30 even I like the bass of the jbl xtreme, but there is no right choice, just compromises. I go for less bass but clearer sound, can not live with the distortions the Jbl has.

I kind of always want to get the biggest best quality possible but i feel with portable speakers if there is only a tiny difference in sound quality there are other features which are more important like battery life, volume, connection/s, pairing, phone, water proofness, ruggedness etc etc. I am here because I saw one review where they swore that the xb20 sounded so much better then the xb30 and although you are doing the 30 and 40 I wanted to hear your take on the quality of sound from the 30. If you do read this could you at all comment on the 20 and 30 comparison as they were so amazed that the 20 sounded so much better than the 30 they could not stop talking about it and they were blown away from it. They don't usually review speakers so I am very suspicious as they probably did not setup the sound in the app and maybe it was not calibrated or something or even a dud speaker but i feel like i would always want to go bigger but i feel like I would like to get all three sizes and since they link that could be a good idea and have them at different points with the 40 ben furthest away. I like the size of the 20 but the 30 and 40 have more than the one coloured light which i don't normally do for lights but it does look amazing and changed my mind. The lights make it like a campfire where you just have to look. It just adds to the experience and think it is a brilliant ploy by Sony as if you have to choose and can't that would be the deciding factor for many people. I guess it uses power but its a great feature, especially the in time with music position.,

That's lame - so if I have a 2nd speaker paired in party mode on the other side of my pool I have to walk over to the speaker to turn it down - My phone should control both speakers, period. F that - I'm buying JBLs.
