what is important is they touched countless lives and contributed to bring sheer happiness and joy to those fans who enjoyed their magic together - falling in love and never forgetting the true romance of their years together.such memories and emotions are bittersweet when time takes its toll and one loses their partner, such beautiful music makes the tears flow.

I saw Nelson Eddy and Gale Sherwood at the Blue Room of the Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans with my family, when I was a pre-teen. We were friends with John Gary, who regularly appeared there. My mom and brother met Mr. Eddy in the lobby, and got his autograph on the cover of an album she had bought. He later sent me an autographed picture. It's true that Gale Sherwood was astoundingly beautiful, and had a great voice. You could see they were close.

Even without her book,a person would have been blind not to seek the love between these beautiful people, shame they didn't run of together,to he'll with MGM.

@52149atticus I have some first hand info about this whole subject and Sharon Rich is correct. Some people can't handle the truth even when it's well documented. I KNOW this from early childhood. I was brought up around this. Her book has comprehensive documentation that agrees with what I already know.

For another book about a thwarted Hollywood love story, check out "Lucky Stars" by Sarah Baker, a joint biography of Janet Gaynor and Charles Farrell, who made 12 films together and were known as "America's Love Birds". The book is meticulously researched, with interviews with family, friends and co-workers. While Gaynor and Farrell lived into old age (Gaynor died in 1984, having been seriously injured in a car crash two years before), and remained friends, there were forces, some external, some of their own making - that kept them from marrying.

Joan Crawford was not allowed to marry Clark Gable. Her other husbands were not major MGM stars (Franchot Tone was a leading man, not really a movie star). Other MGMers have written that they were not allowed to marry another star -, by Louis B. Mayer. He did not want his strong acting couples to marry and then inevitably break up, then he would lose the lucrative screen team.

@52149atticus Rich is very aware of other books that played it safe and so am I. I know better. It's not a choice just FACT. I LIVED with it. As I said ignore it, and you'll feel better. Enjoy your day. Done with it. Don't waste your time.

@52149atticus My mother knew him before he was famous in films until his death, and I knew him. Go ahead and keep your mind closed, if it makes you feel better. At least I know the truth as well as so many others who helped keep it under wraps. Rich has plenty of irrefutable documentation. Be happy and keep your head in the sand.

Shame on Sharon Rich for writing and here promoting her book of lies. Her claims of an affair between Eddy and MacDonald are pure nonsense.

@52149atticus As I said, go ahead and keep your head in the sand. I'm used to your reaction, not bothering to check documentation, just hide your eyes and cover your ears. At least I know better. Your opinion won't change it.
