You've done this a couple times now, I never noticed you measure valve installed height. I measured all valvetrain geometry on my 4.0 rebuild a couple years ago, and ended up shimming a couple of rocker posts and used 3 different lengths of pushrods to get them all to the same preload. Engine runs great, but still have a little bit of valvetrain noise. I sometimes wonder if I over thought the process and could have just thrown all new factory sized valvetrain and let 'er be. I didn't do a valve grind, but I lapped until I had a satisfactory sized smooth margin on every seat. Figured I must have lost at least a thou here or there. 🤷🏻‍♂️

On this build, I had the machine shop set new valve seats and measure them. There’s some things I can’t do at home. Past builds have worked out really well and I don’t hear any unusual valve train noise.
