Jeep 4WDing day, one of eleven Jeeps ripping it up at the Glass House Mountains as part of a "Independent's (suspension) Day" run organised by murchisonproducts.com.au By request of the driver: STAR-WIPE ON EVERYTHING!
Thanks mate! Greetings from sunny Australia! We need more people willing to get out there and use their KKs Sadly too many never see outside of the mall carpark! ;)
I am very impressed with mine. I bought an 03 for my wife and thought it to be a little girly for me, however I hit some ice last week and rolled it off in the ditch and once we flipped it back over it took me right on home.
It sure was a fun trail! I believe it's brake lock diff. The diffs don't lock per-se but when traction is lost on a wheel the ABS kicks in, stops it spinning and transfers torque through the diff to the other wheel. In a crew of diff-locked KJ's and Grands I expected to be pulled through sections but the ETC always kicked in and got me through to the amazement of the guys there. It really worked superbly...I'll still get ARB diff-locks eventually ;) It's a 2" Mopar Lift on it also.
Depends on your needs. For a "soft-roader" the KK is remarkably capable with a great traction control package. It's very low off the floor but with a 2" lift and some decent tyres it will surprise you with what it can do. If you want to do anything more hardcore then this track I'd look at a JK Wrangler though. Wranglers have huge amounts of aftermarket support whilst I'll need to custom build everything I have planned for my KK. I love my KK though and don't regret buying one.
Wont see a CRV or Forester doing this. I did a few mods to my 09 KK. 2 inch lift (new heavier springs, longer shocks), new "A" arms, full skids, rock rails by JCR offroad, and front STEEL bumper. Might right stiff but it doesnt roll, got over 10 inch ground clearance and replacing my 29inch tires with 31's next wekend.
i just bought one yesterday, i love it! goes where i need it to and im sure itll perform great in the snow, greetings from America, good wheelin' boys!
I have a 2008 kk manual USA just got the 2.5in lift (spacers) and tires on the way .my cousin owned it since new put 80,000 on it never beaten ive had it over a year a lot of fishing and trail riding but this year noticed my confidence in it was getting to me and bottomed out a few times nothing bad so decided to lift because its my baby that takes me fishing to places my cars can't and since I bought it cheap I'd rather put a few $$ into it than start a build that gnna cost more than I should spend and I enjoy driving it through the city and rainy, snowy days its a manual so drives like a car not a big jeep
I like it! Those things seam to be pretty capable considering the independent suspension and such, they seam to do just fine! Great spotting btw whoever was leading this guy seamed to know what he was doing.
Thanks. Another 2" and some muddies sure would be nice. I'll leave it at this height for a few years as its mainly a "family 4WD tourer"..... then I'll go crazy with it :)
i want to agree with you with just 2' lift and mud tyres but i `d like to add to Michael that KK is so good for off road as few are able to get ahead its capability. Also if sb wants to make it better than you refer, he could install a locker to the rear axle as it has good ''strong'' drivetrain system to support it.Finally a internal winch 8000lb and it`s perfect !!! I love this model and that front grills say it all !!!
As much as I enjoy my modded KJ, I wish I had a JK. The CRD's with a GDE tune from MurchisonProducts are great! Cherokee's (Liberty's) are an underrated beast. But once I get all the life I can out of this one, I'll probably move onto a nice wide 'n' tall Wrangler. See you on the trails!
Thanks mate! it's my car in the vid. I don't have any TPMS valves in these aftermarket AEV rims as the tyre shop couldn't transplant the ones from the old 18" rims into them without damaging them (so they said). I'll prob buy a second compatible set down the line. The TPMS in the car turned itself off when it detected the sensors were missing so it doesn't chime or anything on startup. To keep your mirrors in simply fold them in by hand.... not by the electronic button ;)
I was sure you had a differential lock in the back. 😲😃. Excellent transport. Have you put a differential lock on since then? What can you tell? Greetings from Israel 👍. All Fans 4 * 4
i have cooper stt and i`m glad because are good for off roading. but having expierience by my friends car`s i `m sure about my next choice. BF Goodrich mk2 for 2 reasons. first they have same off road capability and secont are not so noisy as cooper really very important to me .maybe are better for on road too.
really nice trail. you overleap the obstacles nicely but if you had mud tires everything could be easier to you. i think you`re agood driver but cause ihave mud terain tires to my kk,i beleive you would do easy pass... greetings from greece
