Very helpful to those of us who own XJs but are not professional mechanics. Well made video and you're a good narrator of the entire process. Thank you.
No problem, glad I could help. I don’t consider myself a mechanic either. I try to make these videos with beginners in mind and make it very easy to understand without skipping anything. Thanks for watching!
Remember when putting the pan back on, to use a criss cross pattern when putting the bolts back on the pan. Great job on that, I really enjoyed the video!!
These videos are so flipping helpful! Seriously! For what it's worth, in my 93 4.0 Cherokee, I was able to drop the pan w/o even disconnecting the dipstick. I just kept twisting it some and then I dropped it towards the driver's side front wheel and it came out all together. And I don't even have it jacked up. Many thanks again!
After trying to wiggle tube loose and not having any luck, I went straight to this. Some say it makes it harder, but it will work easier than fighting with the tube.
Great video, one tip is to clean and apply just the tiniest amount of anti seize to the dipstick coupler, that will help to get it off way easier in the future.
Another great video as usual! Thanks for keeping me busy, young man! I’m a fan of Castrol so I’ll be using 2+ gallons of their Transmax High Mileage fluid for vehicles over 75k miles to do a full flush on my 2000 XJ with only +137k miles! 😉✌🏼
Small thing but at 12:00 those bottles are actually designed to be poured in the other direction with the spout at the top so you dont get that "chugging" as it gasps for air.
I didn't see any mention of you re-connecting the dip-stick tube. As that was evidently one of the most difficult things to separate, how was it to put back on and surely it's fairly critical or you're not going to be able to check the fluid level and dirt is going to get in through the open pipe. - Not being off, just think it needs to be mentioned. Thanks for the video, all the same. It's a big help.
Personally, I would follow the manufacturers instructions and only use the lubricants that they recommend. My Cherokee has over 360,000 km or 223,694 miles and it still runs perfect.
That’s what I’ve been trying to stick to. Can’t remember exactly what they recommend for this but I believe it was dexron 2 and I used the upgraded dexron 3
Fun fact when you can't get the dipstick tube off and you can't cut it the job is actually doable with the pan in the car you just have to unbolt the dipstick tube mount to let the pan drop another five inches or so
Lol. There is no wiggling the dipstick tube. I actually pulled my dipstick tube through the engine bay and have the whole thing out. Torched it, lube, u name it and it still won't budge
Nice work man. I have a question man. can I use dexon VI full synthetic ATF , or Universal Synthetic ATF, for my 2001 xj. I saw that you usted two mineral quarters dexon III and two full synthetic ATF.
Thanks! I used 4 quarts of dexron III (I bought 2 quarts of the wrong oil and corrected myself later on). I believe the owners manual says to use dexron II but everybody recommends dexron III
Hey man what made u do all of this when I drive my xj 2000 some reason it likes to stay in 3rd gear for a while while driving could this be my issue it’s auto
I did this just to flush out all the fluids right after I got it. And I’m not too sure on your issue, maybe your Jeep just has a loss of power so that’s why it needs to stay in 3rd gear for a longer time, could be a number of different things
how you have 14.3k subscribers is beyond me? I thought you were going to break out your purse at any moment. Get a shop light instead of a flash light. After breaking the bolts (not screws) loose, you had use a gun to remove the bolts faster.
