The starter for a jku is the same in manual or automatic transmission

I have a 2012 Jeep wrangler with 162000 km and watching the video, I think it's exactly the same problem I'm having this morning. I turn the key, I hear the click, but nothing. Everything works, the battery, no diagnosis with OBD2. Since I'm not equipped to make the change myself, especially seeing how little space there is to remove it, I sent it to the garage. I'm waiting for the diagnosis

You didn’t jack it up on the axle tube did you? Trying to figure out where to jack it to achieve the same results

You ever heard of a 1/4 ratchet and a deep socket, to remove that cable?

Hey, I would like to get your opinion on rear shocks for my 1994 6cyl YJ with only a 2” body lift (so no lift according to the shocks needed). I will be towing a small trailer with many tools from South Carolina to Houston so I wanted to replace my rear original shocks. Tks for your help. -Mike

This is not an easy job and is actually a pain in the ass. Getting the old starter out is difficult on many levels. The room to work is slim. My jeep is lifted and while I could access the bolts, if I didn’t have an adjustable ratchet there’s no way I could have maneuvered to get the bolts off. Then there’s the clip connector. Went to pop up the tab and it just broke. Got the connector off but now no red tab. Then there’s access in the final nut which I think holds the ground connection. Barely enough room to get a socket over it. Used a wrench and no room to use that Becusee of the plastic connector in the starter. Knowing the starter was going in the trash unused the wrench and just broke the connector. The metal piece was so tight that I needed a long screwdriver to pry it off the starter. Got it and then got the starter out. Easy road ahead right? Nope. lol. The positioning pin was stuck in the engine so I had to remove the pin from the new starter. Wouldn’t come out with vice grips. Had to use a torch then it came out. All in all, like anything, if I had to do it again it would be much easier. But it’s a deceiving repair for sure. Good news is the replacement fires right up. My old one was definitely worse. No ticking and it started but there was just a delay in turning over. New one is night and day.

Yah I feel that. 2 bolts and a few wires, no problemo. These are the kind of things that make me want to practice kicking field goals so I can kick the engineer who did this to the JK in the nuts so hard you can hear his ancestors cry. I've had to do this in the dirt on the side of the road then get a ride back home, get more tools, go back under it, and still it took forever and tons of cursing.

this is an interesting job the price of the brushes and the holder is less then half that of a rebuilt starter i have found some good and BAD rebuild-ed starters even if the solenoid has to be replaced and the time to clean and oil the starter i think it is cheaper to rebuild just my thoughts thank you

✝️Romans 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.✝️
