@@michaelvangundy226 Jeep 4.0 engines are legendary for endurance and the low rpm performance necessary for rock crawling. Stroking the engine moved the torque curve further down where you need it while increasing fuel efficiency and horsepower at highway speeds. A V-8 is shorter but it's also wider and makes for a cramped engine bay. It's all about which trade offs you want to make.

For a short time I worked at my friend’s shop where he built custom cars. I did not appreciate the style of the cars, in general, but I loved working there. While I hated the idea of a Mitsubishi Montero that would lay its rocker panels on the ground, I LOVED fabricating the air suspension mountsand figure out the shock mounts and cutting and reinforcing the frame. It’s a real exercise in troubleshooting and creativity and seat of the pant engineering. I feel like I’m reliving it watching these build videos. ❤️

Anyone who has used both a jack hoist, and a wrecker, to remove an engine knows the wrecker is better. It's just infinitely more expensive if that's all you're going to do with it. It's just most people can only afford the $500 Harbour Freight jack style since they're probably doing exactly one swap in one car for their entire lives. Mechanics that do engine swaps a lot usually have an electric winch on a gantry crane.

Emmission regulations has had engineers reworking the engine for decades while new owners and conglomerates has brought in t h e i r team to tweak the engine up to the standard of times. ...and the engine just kept getting better, cleaner and more economical for each decade. A great engine, and I an happy that MORR appreciates it too and drops a fresh one back in the bay.

I got an '86 Toyota Hilux pickup. Its got about 480,000 miles on it. Most everything has been modified and strengthened for Rock crawling and over landing. The body looks like it's been through a war zone, it's just missing a gun turret in the bed! Just about the only thing left stock are the short block and the steering pump like Matt's. They're still original! This truck is like a cockroach. It simply won't die no matter how hard I beat it and overload it. It always starts right up even after it sat unused for a couple years.

As a young teenager driving my 46 Willys with a completely worn out steering box and a half a wheel play with a challenge to keep straight driving down the road a friend recommended the Chevy box which has the bump on the side and nothing is flat and replace that got everything hooked up drove it down the driveway and realized that I had put or not put the Pitman arm so you would turn to the left and rotate to the right my brother came home and I let him drive I drove it around the block just once backwards very entertaining time in my life learning about mechanics and what works and doesn’t work I enjoy watching you deal with issues of Offroad it was very difficult and challenging on a vehicle. I learned a long time ago if you want to race car, bike off-road vehicle you got to work on them to keep them in top condition
