Jeep Wrangler 2.0 Turbo 4 Cylinder Ownership Review | Better off-road than the v6?

I wanted to give you a real ownership review of the 2018 2.0 Turbo 4 4 Cylinder Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JLU. I have to say after owning the Jeep I really like the Turbo 4. I thought it wasn’t going to be as good as the v6 but I have to say I’m really happy I got the 4 cylinders. The eTorque system gives the Jeep nice pick-up off the line. The Turbo helps with passing power on the highway, and the fuel economy is decent. Overall I’m happy with my Turbo Jeep wrangler unlimited jl.

I just bought a 18 wrangler rubicon 2.0. Everyone said stay away from them but so far I love it. Plenty of power good mpg. Got a good deal compared to all the other jeeps out there right now. You helped me pull the trigger on it. Thanks man.

When I ordered my ‘21 Cherokee I specifically wanted the 2.0T, because I didn’t want to deal with the Pentastar woes (mostly the leaking oil cooler and some having valve-train issues). Mine does not have the eTorq, but it still rips! So far all is well at 32k miles. It is very fun, and not to mention the gas mileage I get especially on interstate trips is phenomenal. Everyone always calls the 2.0T the “POS” and always gives it a rough way to go, but I would do it again. I don’t recall seeing these motors having any issues since they’ve been out for a little while now. Glad to see someone else enjoying their 2.0T!

Same here brother, got me a 2021 rubicon with the turbo as well. I couldn’t find any two doors with the v6 so I took a gamble with the turbo. 3k so far and it’s a fun drive on the road and off road, really impressed. Mine doesn’t have the e torque system, I think they stopped adding them 2021.

First thank you! I have a 2018 with the 2.0. No problems at this point and have also driven across country. If I am on the highway I have clocked 30 MPG. City is 18 to 20. Keeping my fingers crossed!

A lot people don’t realize that that 2.0 liter turbo is a Alfa Romeo engine and the Transmission is a BMW transmission. This is why it has a lot of torque. Italian engine, German Transmission.

Oh yeah, this engine rocks. Plus the ZF 8 Speed is a amazing transmission. They put it in everything now of days because it’s that good. I say if it’s good enough for a scat pack then it’s good enough for a 2.0 Turbo lol

I got a Rubicon v6 with e torque and that thing can spin some tires, more than happy with its 0-60 but its 60-85 is where it's at. I heard nothing but good things about the V4 Turbo but I got a pretty good deal on my 2018 JLUR. Compared to the JK you can't go wrong with any of the JL options I bet it destroys a supercharged JK any day.

Your lucky. My jeep is currently sitting at a dodge dealer getting engine replaced at 45k miles. Started knocking 😩 thanks god for warranty. Also developed death wobble and computer issues. Never go off roading or run car hard

When ever you put on bigger wheels and tires make sure to do your gears first.

Do you use premium fuel or regular? I am looking to buy a 2023 with that motor but don't want to have to use premium gas!

I've been using regular gas in mine. No issues. I can't say what other people are doing but for me regular all the way

Honestly no, I still love the 2.0 Turbo. I was thinking about upgrading to a Gladiator but when I realized they don’t have the 2.0 turbo in it, it made me rethink wanting to get a gladiator. I really like this engine that much.
