I work as an engineer at the company that injection molds those door panels. And also live about 45 mins from Toledo where this vehicle is assembled. It's cool to see these parts which get made right next to my office half way across the world in Australia! Nice review!
For a vehicle with such offroad capability, I really think you need to take it on some more interesting tracks...if you're down in the Southern Highlands for testing Meryla State Forest would be a far better proving ground, lots of options in track difficulty.
Love it the moment I saw it..bought a Diesel JL Rubicon..yes 1 Star Safty sux but it’s safer than most 4wd’s of the 80’s 90’s and 00’s that you see out on the tracks and on road..can’t wait to get it in Dec
Looking at some pictures side by side, I notice some differences in the moulding - but it could just be specification differences. If anyone knows more, please chime in.
I’d love one if these after just recently touring north east vic’s roads around Beechworth of which many are dirt and too rough for a normal suv - the blue of this model but I’d want a six speed manual if available
Hi Tom, enjoyed the video. With a 1 star crash rating, I am not sure how Jeep can look at itself and still sell a vehicle knowing if it is involved in a serious crash the occupants will end up with a serious injury or dead. Car manufacturers have a responsibility to produce the safest vehicles possible, a one star rating is disgraceful . Shame on you Jeep.
It’s not great, is it. No doubt some of the heritage features like the fold-down windscreen contribute. While stuff like that is cool, you’d probably have to lose it if you wanted to score high marks for frontal impact protection.
Magnificent looking and capable vehicles, but absurdly overpriced and unforgivably poor safety rating, so completely impractical and unviable for the majority of people
Yeah, $62k for this spec + the 1 star ANCAP rating won’t wash with some people. For others, it won’t be a problem. Me? I think I’d still have a Jimny at this point.
@@chasingcars Jimny is the way to go for value, I love that little thing and seen some great builds. I think that too is just slightly over priced and availability in Aus is an absolute beyond a joke, but great car if you can get hands on one.
@Antonio Zamudio It makes sense if you are wealthy and can have multiple vehicles but its not a good daily driver, and 60k+ for a littlw 2 door 4wd with 1 star safety rating just seems completly absurd to me. I was going to buy a JK at one point but dont think i could have lived with it very long.
Mate, there is no comparison between a wrangler and an ordinary SUV. Two totally different vehicles. Here’s some food for thought: Everyone that knows anything about Jeep Wranglers know that they’re not the most aerodynamic and possibly not the most comfortable but there has been a huge amount of changes between the JK and JL models to rectify the comfort and general ride. Let’s not forget though, that a wrangler also becomes a lifestyle with ultimate off-road capabilities, so frankly, a small compromise. We have travelled hours and hours and not many complaints regarding comfort.... Secondly, the SAFETY rating, wow! Go and purchase a Korean or Chinese car which has a better safety rating due to having 50 airbags auto braking and pedestrian sensors, there’s 4 stars almost alone! Modern cheap car manufacturers material quality is feeble and really poor so they have to over augment their safety products. I suppose these add up to be benefits and features but let’s not forget that the Jeep is ultimately built for off-road! Unfortunately I wouldn’t rate your opinion of these vehicles. You’re research was somewhat mediocre and straight from supplied material, and you did come across rather negative at times as well.
You’re welcome to “not rate” my opinion, but it’s one grounded in the experience of extensively driving everything on the market. Appreciate you’re a fan, but things like basic safety aren’t really negotiable in 2020.
@@chasingcars I certainly appreciate your response, but the JL series Wranglers do in fact comply with most safety regulations, but please also note that some vehicle manufacturers chose to not compete so much with inferior brands who require all of these ‘features and benefits’ to bring their general vehicle standards up to scratch. It was mentioned to me by a client of mine who just so happens to work for ANCAP, that many cars are not concerned as much with their specific structure of their vehicles, therefore it’s necessary that these manufacturers have to comply by increasing their safety features.... It’s quite bizarre.....
At this price, only for a Jeep fan. I would never buy one, solely because of their hideous reliably issues, poor customer support and expensive parts and there is no modern safety standard there at all. Having said that, Jeeps look great. Pity.
I do agree you need to be right into your Jeeps for a Wrangler purchase to make sense. For those who want a trucky look but don't want to dive into some of the issues you mention, a preowned FJ Cruiser isn't a bad option. They are really holding their value, though!
@@chasingcars I'm a fan of the FJ Cruiser. Fashion dictates so many 4 x 4 purchases. Twin cab for the family on a budget. Landcruiser for those who have a larger income/retired. Range Rovers for those who want a fashion statement.
@Kh2 ESP Yep...it's real funny when you die? Even the Suzuki Jimny has a 3 star Ancap rating. The issue is not off road, it's when the vehicle is on the open road and you crash into something at 80-100kph😐
