Aside from the other videos that deal with customer service, you can tell Matt is a great guy based on his dogs and how they act and how he is with his kids who are not only polite but somewhat knowledgeable already in an off-road environment. All in all, they are the type of family that makes America great!
Kudos for letting the boy get some experience under his belt!! And to all the ones doing the filming!! Thanks for sharing these moments with us!! That trail was breathtaking!!!! ✌🐢
Business owner life. My wife has made comments before, you always wear your company shirt/hat everywhere we go. She doesn’t realize sometimes those dates pay our bills 👍🏻
I didn't learn to offroad until I got my jeep at 17, that kid's gonna be able to take on anything with this experience. Real calm with constant throttle
No Brakes Why does everyone say and think being a dog is so great? That would be the worst. You only live for max if 15 years, eat the same fod, never can take a shower, etc. No thanks I like being a human.
Matt, this is going to sound crazy, but in North Dakota, we could get our drivers license at 14. Keep him driving! Contrary to what a lot of others might say, he is NOT too young to start driving. Keep up the hard work!
My daughter is 10 and I just started letting her drive the disco offroad in a field by our house there are 4 wheeler trails and its mostly flat except for a couple dried out ponds. Had her on the 4 wheeler trails so she could get familiar with the vehicle. After a few she started to learn the steering did pretty good. That was her first time. We didn't exceed 10mph. I plan on taking her more and working offroad into the mix. Bybthe time she is 16 she will be a good offroad driver and then ill send her to driving school so she will learn more than just what signs on the road mean. I want her to be a conscious driver.
Chris, same thing for Nebr. if you are a "Country Kid" You could drive to and from school no problem, but often Dad would send you to town for a part if one of the pieces of equipment was down and he was doing repairs. No problem , most the kids doing that didn't screw around, (the county sheriff knew most of them anyway. I was a best friend of a country kid and on weekends usually was out to their farm. MY friends dad had me in pickup and on small tractors helping when I was 11. Thought I was king of the world. Long before ATV's only 4 wheeler was an old Willy's jeep, we'd take it down to the river, had to walk back to the farm a couple times, only about 2 miles to get a tractor to pull us out. But what fun.
Vinny G yup! it’s a Rubicon, stock and it is a Copart special, as far as I know they are still working out a few bugs. That was also the maiden voyage.
Best place to learn to drive....I remember being tossed into there drivers seat of the old hay truck thinking I was King of the world... Some of the best Father son memories... Good job Dad...👍👍
Ask your grandparents when they started driving or operated farm equipment. You'll be surprised what responsibilities they had at a very young age. It wasn't easy back then for families to survive.
My kids started to drive off-road when they were about 8 in our 1952 M38A1. It gave them so many skills including how to drive a manual. Great channel, keep up the excellent work!
Loved it! Will definitely look for that water fall when I get to your area. The young man driving, brought back memories from 50+ years ago when I was 12. My Dad let me drive the truck for the first time. I remembered the smile on his face, every bump and puddle we had to go though. Thanks for that.
I can't say enough good things about Yankum Ropes! I called Yankum a week or so ago to get a status on my order. I ended up speaking to Alan for some time. What a great guy and excellent business philosophy. After speaking to him, we adjusted my pending order (I ordered too big a diameter for my rig). I just got the rope yesterday and the quality is superb! I'm looking forward to going out and playing with it to understand how to recover with a kinetic rope. So awesome to see Matt, Alan and families out having fun!
Dog1: "These humans are so slow. This'll take all day." Dog2: "Yeah. Those things they ride in can barely get around out here. They're fine for flat places, but this is leg terrain." Dog1: "Silly humans. Why struggle to run over a big rock when you could just walk around the damned thing?" Dog2: "I know, but they got all the food and stuff so don't lose track of 'em."
So excited to see y’all enjoying the XJ while trail riding!! And just enjoying the scenery with friends!! Drone footage was great as always! Hope to see more of y’all having fun enjoying the Yellow Banana besides just using it as a “tool”. Love that XJ!!! ❤️🐞
My new favorite trail. Its a much different trail in May.. We went in high water. I know this trail as rattlesnake gultch to Tocqueville falls. Wish I could show some photos
Nice to see your son 4 wheeling. I started when I was 9 or 10 on a large ranch in an old Ford 3/4 ton with military tires an fell in love with it. I’m almost 66 now and still wheel . He’ll have a good life with a dad and mom like that! Good job young man!
Nice job guys! It’s good to see Matt with his family having some time off. It was nice to see what Allen looked like as he was the one i called when ordering my 1” Yankum! He was very excited while I talked with him on the phone!
I think it's a great thing that Matt is teaching his kids to drive the trails. The skills and confidence they are picking up will help then throughout their lives.
I’m guessing your sons first car he is going to want a Jeep! Your son has some pretty damn good driving skills for only being 12 as well Matt, well taught!
Must add, thanks for all the effort bringing these videos to us Matt and the team, the filming and audio is excellent, so are the drone shots, and of course the hours of editing that go into these productions. Respect, they’re much appreciated.... 👍🏻🇷🇴🇬🇧
Good to see the kid getting some driving time. My dad did this with me from around 11-14 years old. It helped me immensely later when I was getting my license and had already been driving for a few years. Everyone else seemed like they were just learning to drive at 15, and it was terrifying riding with them in drivers ed.
Watching Rhett drive your jeep on the trails. Reminded me of when I was a kid and we would go to death Valley. My grandpa would let me drive his CJ5 on the trails. Thanks for bringing back some good memories. Love your channel Matt.
Another great video, impressive off-road performance for all the vehicles. Looks like a blast and I love that you gave your son a chance to drive some of the trail!
I m so happy to see this channel grow I subscribe when you had 1200 subscribers this was only 5 months ago I cannot believe my eyes seeing 127k I m happy to see this many subscribers
Its amazing to watch all these old videos. You can see how much has changed since then in such a short time, yet all the fundamentals have stayed the same, including Matts kindness and mannerisms, which is important. Proud of you Matt, as well as everyone else. Sad we dont have Trevor anymore, and now.. Lizzy as well. Honestly its really sad to lose those two as part of the team. I hope Matts Off Road continues on for a long, long time. I would love to start up a Canadian version here on the east coast, because I know ill never get to work for Matt himself. I would love to be able to do what he does for others, and expand it to my area. Just really hard to afford to start it up with nothing
It's cool that you are letting your son drive and gain experience. I learned to drive in a 1948 Willys Jeep CJ-2A. When I was 4 years old (in 1969), my dad put me in the Jeep on my knees in the driver's seat. He had a hay wagon hitched to the back. He had bailed hay and dropped the old-style square bales on the ground in the field. He put it in low range, first Gear, four wheel drive and had me drive from one bale to the next while he walked and loaded the hay. If I needed to stop, I just switched off the ignition. When it was time to move again, I just started the engine in gear. I couldn't reach the pedals. When I was seven or eight, I had grown enough to reach the pedals and he taught me how to shift. I drove everything on the farm after that.
t=9:40 Son - "Dad, it's low on memory card." Matt - "I dont know what that means." This is why I love watching your videos. Thanks, and keep em coming!
Your part of Utah is like time traveling back to the 1980's (meant in a good way) in a lot of ways. I'm going to have to start venturing out that way more...
Good for you, I learned to drive from my father who was a farmer by the time I was nine. I taught my daughters in a parking lot to drive while they had to sit in my lap. 👍👍👍
I drove an old Dodge Dart sitting on my dad's lap way back when I was like 6 years old. Never got to drive a rig that nice though. Would have been sweet.
Great video! Wonderful scenery - But it looks like the Border Collie had the MOST fun. The 4 Rubicon door just needs a lift and bigger tires to wheel with this group.
Totally Awesome! Cool you let little man get a turn behind wheel. Super Dad! My daughter was inspired to give it go seeing this. I’ve been working on getting her to build the courage, but needed just another little influence.
I wish I could hit the like button at least 50 times, what an awesome trail ride. What makes even sweeter is doing it with family and friends. God bless you all. Keep yankin them out Matt! 👍
9:36 And how we love Daddy Matt because of it! Hahahaha..... Anyway, the son is or will be very grateful to have a dad like that. We can see that. Hat's off to Matt!
Hi Matt. Seeing your boy drive I was carried back to the 1950s in the Brazilian highlands where my dad had a 1952 Willys Station Wagon. The terrain was quite similar to what you cross in Utah. We had many similar adventures as well. He taught me to drive as soon as I could depress the clutch while seeing through the windshield. I learned a lot about the mechanical end as well.Great memories. It’s nice to see how close your family is.
Way to go Matt. I loved seeing your boy behind the wheel. Get them started young so that our sport always keeps interest. I used to let my daughter drive when we would go out and play in the mud. When she was getting close to being 16 she started begging me to build her a pink jeep for her first vehicle and i had very little concern about her getting herself into positions that she could not handle. It was cool seeing you guys out having a little wheeling fun. Thanks for bringing us along.
MTB R3 we have a video with it wheeling with the man-spot on our channel, working better content. I’m planning on doing a walk around soon! Thank you 😎
Im a huge Toyota fan, been offroading a 75 fj40 since junior high ('84) to my moderately modified 08 Fjcruiser. I was proud to see that Landcruiser. Good job and nice driving skills. Gonna see if you have a channel
Very cool letting Jr get some wheel time. I fondly remember driving my uncles GMC Jimmy out in the woods of Michigan in the 70's. Learned how to drive at 10 years old on the dirt roads up there, learned a lot in the snow as well.
Very nice job everyone. Liked the entire trip, area views and the teamwork. Nice to see young ones learning the ropes too. So interesting binge-watching these vids for days now.
Driving since I was about nine. And I was a legally licensed driver here in New Mexico at the age of 14 because my dad is blind. And he had signed all the paperwork saying that because he was handicapped. He needed to have an additional driver besides my mom. So both my sister and I were both legally license to drive in the state of New Mexico by the age of 14. And so I've been driving for a long long time. I'm not sure I would have driven a vehicle through there, but I certainly would have taken a horse.
Brian Amrhein it does have the decals. They’re easier to see in the previous video. It’s even stated in the last video. You can even see them using the lockers in the last video
Love to see the kid driving. I taught mine when he was 8 years old. Always took him hunting with me. So he should know how to drive in case something happens to me.
Looks like a great day with a great group on a great trail. Want my boys to learn with my 2004 Rubicon just like Rhett. Really warmed my heart when you responded "I don't know what that means".
Fantastic scenery great points of view throughout. Good to see Rhett getting some time behind the wheel. There’s a race class for the banana in King of Hammers
What a great ride! Nice country, nice sound track, nice folks to be with, nice adventure. Thanks for the ride. Also, good to see your boy get to drive.
