We are knee deep with the restoration of this 2000 Jeep XJ and you know what? We got rust issues! Lower rocker panel rust to be more specific. And I bet you do to if you’re like the rest of us shmucks that happen to live in the dreaded rust belt. Unfortunately once rust starts it is almost impossible to stop and when the paint starts to bubble well, you got holes buddy. Luckily there are great companies that produce rust repair panels that allow us to cut out the rusty bits and replace them with shiny new metal. When done properly you will never know it was replaced. Now cutting your car up isn’t for the faint of heart, it can be quite intimating, but it can be less stressful with the correct tools and a little bit of knowledge. So follow along with our 2 part series as we show you how to replace rocker panels on a 2000 Jeep XJ. I also should mention these methods will cross over into almost any rocker replacement job. I watched the rocker series. Performed this task on a xj. All went as it should. I did not use the mopar rocker because i researched how to do the task after the purchase. The mopar part would have made things fit better. More experience on my end would have made it look more like the work he did in the videos. I had a local place mix me the color code to match paint and i spray painted the rocker. Great video's thank you

Really very good videos. I’m doing this right now on my 99 XJ. For those out there it is intimidating, but follow the video and be patient. Get the tools on his list. Lot of spot welds to cut and handful he doesn’t show. Thank You

Awesome content and perfect timing. Getting into full on rebuild of 2001 XJ with roached out rockers. Was staring at them wonder how the F to remove them with pillar supports attached. You saved me a ton of time with these 2 videos.

Great video guys you're the only one on RU-vid that has replaced the factory rockers the right way. I'm restoring an xj and replaced most of the drivers side lower sheetmetal. Lots of good techniques and info. Keep up the good work.

Doing a resto mod on a Comanche soon and of course rockers are on the list as well as floor pans. These 2 videos are by far the best and most thorough videos I’ve seen on replacing panels on an XJ. Amazing job.

Great . . . up until the very end where you warn me not to try doing this myself 🙂. I'm the original owner of a 1998 XJ 5-speed manual with 260,000 Wisconsin miles. The outer rockers are pretty much gone. I'll try to tackle this next spring as the Cherokee is now in storage for the winter.

great video, I have 01 XJ and my cross membrane that holds the rear shocks and gas tank straps is shot, do you have a video on how to repair that? I've been trying to locate that peace to buy and have yet to find one.

The little tab that sticks up in the front door area folds over the inner rocker. Probably from the factory to hang the rocker in place until the robot gets it spot welded into place. I got my new rockers from c2c Fabrication and they are excellent quality. Although I did not install mine the same way you did (great job btw) they are holding up quite well. God bless and stay well. PS. I used panel adhesive and self tapping screws as I didn't have access to a welder at the time I replaced the rocker end floor pans.

Came across you guys looking for options to replace the rocker panels since im looking to buy one of these XJs up in Illinois...bound to be rusted through. Didn't like the look of the steel 2x6/2x8s that most people are welding on. Love the OEM look to be honest and really interested to see how your XJ turns out. Keep up the great videos! They deserve much more attention then most of the other ones out there.
