Nice. I especially enjoy the way you disassembled it by pulling the housing off with the back of the case and taking the gear off instead of the front yoke. Most vids I've seen make it way more complicated. Well done.
when you need to hold something in place while assembling like your oil pickup try a little grease to stick it in place works good on needle bearings too. Good to see the gloves in use.
I know old vid... just a note for folk though..... yes people may want the tail housing you removed (myself being one). Lots of these 242 came with a different speedo set up that does not match their vehicle they are swapping the 242 into. Thus their are a few who need the tail housing; like one you removed, allowing them to keep their dash speedo setup instead of add on option of GPS speedo
Thanks for putting the guide up. Owning 3 x NP242 equipped XJ's, I dream of buying one of these SYE's but last time I checked it was almost $1000 to get one sent to me in Australia.
Man I hope you reply. I'm in a bit of a pickle with my NP242 sye. I even asked Tom Woods and Advanced adapter. My question is I understand the two clips used to hold the speedo gear and the big clip to hold in the main bearing but where does the 4th clip go I don't see it listed in the directions.
Pretty sure it's a replacement to hold the gear stack/differential on the shaft ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oDAP6EM_UcI.htmlsi=Mxo0z3VF80F-Ex_m
