Jeep YJ 2.5 Cold Air Intake

I needed more room in the engine bay for the Brake Upgrade so I added a Cold Air Intake for the little 2.5 L YJ engine.
It makes a little more noise and maybe a little more perky but definitely provides the space I needed.
Here is the knock off kit I used.

Nice! But you gotta wrap the tube in high temp resistant tape, like Newtex Z-Flex, that way the air going in actually is cooler. No point of having a hot metal tube as part of a "cold air intake" 😉👍 It's not expensive, easily available on Amazon

Looks like a good start to a snorkel setup. Also, do you have a video with the newer sound? I love the sound of an engine breathing, and wonder if it would be a sound I want on my 87

I just got an 87 and working on replacing some old parts and fixing the wiring.

@@deandrastevenson6973 I love mine. I actually am in the process of swapping the entire drivetrain to a Chevy V8 with a classic 4 speed. It’s a slow process but getting there. The old 2.5 was just not enough and I found I had a lot of wiring gremlins.

I'd see if you can find a loop + bolt to bolt that black block off wall to that hood support rod. The hole seems to be at the exact right place to give it more stability. Spoke too soon. Seems at 8:40 you installed a ziptie.

FunWithAJ I missed it in the instructions but it was intended to be ziptied to the grill support. It is pretty sturdy that way.

I do worry about dust but in our area it is mostly heavy woods, rocks and mud so the dust is not as common. I expect I will need to change oil more often though.
